I'm a f2p player, been playing since beta, made some mistakes along the way like DE'ing Grom, VanCleef etc. but I still have an okay collection - lacking some legendaries and epics from Classic and GvG, struggling with getting what I want from TGT because I can't save 100 gold if it depended on my life :D. To start playing HS now, you either have to do it purely for fun - knowing you'll have a rough time getting 3 wins out of 10 games, or spend quite a lot of cash for Naxx, BRM, at least 50-100 packs etc.
So, what I think would be a good move by Blizz:
Incorporate a system that will allow players to choose between playing full or limited collections - i.e. if you're just starting, and you have mostly cards from Classic, limit the decks to Classic only, or GvG only, or TGT, or any combination of those you want/can play. Naxx or BRM should be included in all those modes so they at least have to get the adventures. I believe this way there would be enough people playing all the modes - and newcomers wouldn't feel that overwhelmed by the quantity of cards and choices.
tl;dr: Different game modes, Classic/GvG/TGT only or something similar.
you've been playing since BETA, and have an 'okay' collection. imagine players that will join recently, they will be destroyed, and will lose faith in the game. with every new expansion, the grinding time will increase. thats why naxx should be made free in my opinion.
Don't know about free - I don't want to step on too many toes of people who spent money on HS - but some decrease in prices would probably be okay.
And yes, I don't think I disagreed on that newer players will be intimidated by the quantity of the content and simply decide not to play at all...that's why I suggested limited systems - maybe even with not allowing players who have for example, more than 50% of GvG and/or TGT playing ClassicOnly mode...
Yes, it is too expensive. i say that as someone who's been playing since Beta. Their sheer failure during the launch of this expansion just reminded me how lax they can be when it comes to acting on issues. Also how quick they pull in the money, before even giving release dates or full details "let's sloooooowly drag out the reveals, but keep taking that cash boys!" - I don't think Blizz respect their customers [because that is what you are once you spend a cent]
I think all IAP games are too expensive [doesn't matter if 'you' personally harp on about being F2P ... [there will always be spenders to keep the game going for you] - Sadly this is how this gen were introduced to gaming, so it's all good now yeah? Imagine back when Street fighter first came out. And you had to pay to unlock each character or $10 just to change their appearance!?. You'd have screamed "RIP OFF!!" same with any other game from the 80's, 90's even early 2000's. But last few years IAP has taken over, and people don'y mind throwing $50 at a virtual tank, or a pack of random card packs.

People have been buying cards for CCGs since the 90s, oops.
I had a moment of weakness the other day…I wanted to relive those moments where I would go to the card store and throw a bunch of money at MTG packs. Man those were the days. Bought 15 packs and the remaining wings of Naxx I didn't have yet.
Could finally fill in the gaps I was missing in my decks. I'll probably treat myself every month to a couple packs for fun…The game has already given me more joy than some $60 full release games I've purchased.
You get so much free stuff in this game, compared to other f2p games this is nuts!
1. Free Brawl Booster every week
2. 50G avarage Quest each day
3. Rank rewards
Seriously this is insane for f2p. Furthermore this game provides Arena Mode where you can Skyrocket your Booster income with skill.
Furthermoore this game still features cheap decks like Face hunter and Zoo, that dont need high dust to complete. What else do you want?
Okay you maybe wont archieve a whole collection, or at least its verry hard to get every card doubled as f2p, but must cards you only need for gimmicky fun decks, that are just the cherry on the cake.

go play league XD
sometimes you dont want to play those cheap cancer decks, there should be a way, where f2p players can achieve high end competitive decks that are not cancer, but not a 200 day grind. thats up to the devs to design and tailor the game to everyones needs. league does a perfect job. so far.

Totally agree. Main difficulty new players faces, is they do not know what kind of deck they wanna play. If you know what you want - it's easy to find resources to craft proper deck. There is a lot of rewards when you just start the game.
Why is it that people find this game unplayable without all the top tier decks?
If you want to be competitive you can get a legend capable deck within two maybe one month of playing. People on the forums will hate you, but it has never been cheaper to get what people call "cancer" decks, which is highly competitive. The only thing that gets hard to get for free is the big control decks. If you want the full collection for some reason, then use some money. New players need 1400 gold and 800 dust to play patron warrior, and zoo and hunter is also in that pricerange.
Blizzard has not only giving us better daily quest and free tawernbrawl packs, they also lowered the price needed to get in the high ranked play. The game has never been cheaper to play than it is today, there is 30 cards in a deck, not 698.
It is my oppinion that this game is a hobby and a hobby may cost some money while you enjoy it. Its up to you what you wanna spend at this game. Iff its stupid becouse of what you have te spend, dont play it.
Iff you do your quests every day, you almost open a pack once a day FOR FREE !
Not even close. Play MTG and buy a booster box every month or two plus when you need a card you can't disenchant it... This is no where near as expensive as most TCG's

True, but i played MTG for quite a while and sold all of it (exept a tradewindrider deck). Its not possible to sell your collection when you quit.

This is very true. If you keep your MTG stuff in good shape you can make some serious cash from it.
if you want to be competitive from the go then yes. Competitive doesnt mean only legend, there are many people at low ranks like 15+ that play competitive decks but cnt advance further. Too bad you cant buy a better brain.
For NAX I bought the first wing with gold and the rest with cash. I would not be upset at all if suddenly Naxx was free (or a deep discount) and I think it would be healthy for the game.
I think that reducing the cost of both $ and gold is actually better than making it free so that people who did "just" buy it would not feel duped. Honestly if you buy the expansion and use the cards for three months, then it gets less expensive there is not much reason to complain.
The other method that could work would be to make combo pack deals for both expansions, so that a new player will be able to get them easier and not feel like they have to drop $50 right off the bat if they want to get in there and play competitively.
I work for my money and spend it on cards, I don't really care if a F2Per has to grind for 2-4 hours a day in order to get a good collection. The very fact that they can play this much means they do not even have a job most likely, and they get to play more than I do. Cry me a river.

It is simply wrong that patron warrior can be played for 1400 gold. Death's Bite is a really important card in patron warrior and you need wing 4 of Naxx for that. That and the first BRM wing makes 3500 gold. Still, it's kinda cheap but will require about two months of playing if you can't grind every day for 100 gold (e.g. because real life and stuff).
The game is expensive but it's really nothing compared to other freemium mobile games like Candy Crush or Clash of Clans.
Though, I have to admit that if you don't pay the minimum amount for the adventures in this game that you will have a really hard time. Other freemiums you usually end up paying more but are more enjoyable without paying.
The game is getting expensive, but is one of the best mobile games that exists. You pay for quality. As far as people complaining about things not being free....well......come over and do my laundry for free.....oh wait you wouldnt (think about it).
As a newer player i will say that buying the expansions sucked. but fair is fair.. I do think that after a time naxx should be free if you buy BRM.. I didn't mind buying the expansions though cause they came with fun PVE content. When it's just $50 cause new cards came out.. meh.. but they still got my money..
I didnt do the $50 bucks thing myself. Too many chances for getting piles of worthless cards & doubles that hardly dust for enough to be worth it. I so wish this game simply had a card "shop" where you could just pay for cards you want. They couild limit how many at one time or per month to keep it sane but this concept of grinding, dusting for hardly nothing, and crafting takes way too long and is incredibly inefficient.
I paid for Naxx. I haven't bought BRM yet. Been playing on and off a few months.
I held back from buying BRM because it dawned on me that what was holding me back was I just hadn't got to grips with the mechanics of playing the different classes, rather than it all being down to the cards themselves.
That said I think there are a few things Blizz could do that would help new players. One free Arena run a week, for example. At least discount Naxx too
