So we had about 24 hours to test out all the new cards and decks and I was wondering what you guys thought were the biggest sleeper hits /most undervalued cards.
I start with my own list, I have up to now been playing around with token pala, dragon pala and dragon priest (roughly 40 games in total), also tried out 2-3 games of totem shaman.
Again just a reminder: these arent the BEST cards of the set but rather the ones I believe have been severily undervalued by the majority
1. Murloc Knight: this card is just insane, I have to admit when I saw it the first time it just passed under the radar. In my token pala deck it can so easily snowball out of control if left unchecked its just unreal.
2. Twilight Guardian: I remember some people saying that its just a senjin shieldmasta with +1hp. The truth is its much more than that. Sure one more hp over vanilla stats is already good but the fact that it enables a lot more dragon synergy cards without sacrificing early game control makes it in my opinion one of the best dragons and makes dragon priest especially a T1 deck together with =>
3. Wyrmrest Agent again just an amazing card, against aggro its basically a total shut down in combination with the guardian and the fact that there are now so many good dragon cards out there (chillmaw + guardian) you are nearly always guaranteed the triggering of the dragon bonus effects. In my opinion this is on eof the best 2 drops in the game.
4.Silver Hand Regent This card is incredibly annoying to play against a token pala. you simply cant keep down the flood of recruits which inevitably snowball out of control with all the synergy cards like cultmaster horse trainer quartermaster etc...
5. Tuskarr Jouster I just love this card, as a 5/5 it is a real presence on the board and against rush decks it nearly guarantees you the heal.
6. Holy Champion This card is just amazing. On turn 4 it is a decent body that allows you to contest the board and has soft taunt. In the end game behind big taunts (as is the case in dragon priest) this card just becomes another BIG minion that needs expensive/desperate removal to get rid off, clearing the way for your other big hitters like ysera and co.
7. Thunder Bluff Valiant I remember many people thinking it was to slow, but honestly I think this card actually is the one that MAKES totem shaman a thing, another card that if left unchecked completely snowballs out of control and even just getting one hero power totem out (since it gets buffed aswell as many people didnt realize) is already value.
In general I believe people underestimated the power of inspire => you dont need an inspire focused deck justa little bit to spice up your deck.
So what experiences have you made? I am sure there are also many other sleeper hits waiting to be discovered :-)
“My armor is like tenfold shields, my teeth are swords, my claws spears, the shock of my tail a thunderbolt, my wings a hurricane, and my breath death!” - Smaug
Yeah no inspire decks so far, just people using good stand-alone inspire cards. Most of them basically pay for themselves with one activation, with the potential to just end the game if left alive.
I've mostly been experimenting with Control Hunter (with a fair amount of success, went 9-2 last night) but in my experience:
King's Elekk Great card especially in control hunter, I've won every joust against aggro decks, most jousts against midrange, and around 50% against other control decks.
Powershot This card shuts aggro decks down so hard. They drop all but 1 or 2 cards in their hand by turn 3 and then you clear their board on 3 having only allowed them to push about 4 to 6 damage. Honestly I will likely test this card in midrange hunter when the meta becomes face oriented since midrange hunter has a hard time clearing minions while also dealing face damage.
Yeah I agree, seeing Kings Elekk during the brawl made me realize its basically a 3/2 beast that potentially draws you a card (which is just insane value) and at the very least helps you identify the enemies deck your playing.
@ Jonny Blue I dont agree with lowly squire being good. Why do you believe he was underestimated?

Time to bump all those old threads of people saying this expansion was terrible and laugh.
People just can't evaluate cards. Why people thought a mechanic that gives repeated value every turn, at no cost of additional cards wouldn't be good, I have no idea. Obviously not all of the inspire stuff is good, but the ones that are better standalone cards with slightly weaker effects are for sure playable. The 2 token paladin cards particularly

Because 2 streamers that have never won any large tournaments said the expansion was garbage.
I think the murloc is too slow…if its not behind a taunt it gets removed the turn it plays by a decent player PERIOD. Time will tell. I think most of these cards look good on paper, but are too over costed. Especially when you consider what spots these will take up in your deck. There are some awesome 4 drops…Piloted shredder is STILL way better than murloc in just about every single way because it is an instant effect.
It's funny how Twilight Guardian is "just senjin with one more health". Just like how Belcher was "a senjin with more stats split into two bodies".
Apparently you can downplay ANY card with that attitude.
Dr Boom is just a War Golem with 2 deathrattle wisps. Pilotted Shredder is just a Spellbreaker that sacrifices silence for a random body. Arcane Golem is just a more expensive Wolfrider that has one more attack.
King elek is bonkers in slightly slower midrange hunter, this deck was already really good but lacked a bit of card draw sometimes, elek makes it even better.
Murloc Knight is a 6 drop to get its effect. Most Murlocs are pretty weak for the mana compared to others. Piloted shredder is a beast, a guaranteed effect, top of tier 4 drop that even if silenced can at least trade with Azure Drakes etc.
I just think a turn 4/5 or a turn 6 play just to get a tiny murloc is silly when I could throw out Piloted, Belcher / Loatheb, and any number of way better 6 drops to keep a strong tempo?
There will be rare games where this guy will shine, but you'll already be winning that game in the first place.

Too early to say for sure but I don't disagree. That being said, I don't think many people doubted that Tuskarr Jouster was anything but great.
I think the only card understimated is murloc knight and maybe silver hand regent. The rest give me good impression from the beginning,

Hey man, could you send me your decklist? it looks awesome
Never mind, I just saw you already have uploaded the deck :P

I still want to know how good Pit Fighter is... But I don't even have the second wing of Naxxramas so my deckbuilding is poopy.
Give a man a Murloc, and he'll eat for a day.
Give him a Murloc Knight, and people will hate him.
I got a Murloc Knight from a Neptulon twice yesterday, the card is really good.

Ram Wranglerhas won me a few games.
Mukla's Champion has lost me some, when facing it ... I honestly think that card should have been an Epic!
Yeah this card is pretty bananas

Most of these cards throw your tempo way off.
Holy Champion has been wonderful
