Um....Ice rager is Magma rager with 1 more health, Heckler is BBB for 1 less mana. So all this game balance, fragile stuff is BS. There is also nothing exciting or new about Ice rager or Heckler. Whatever playtesting has had to be done with these 2 'new' (actually old with new artwork) cards would have been done if the old cards were buffed.
Still waiting for a real defense.
The defense is; who the hell cares? They're unplayed cards.
I think they don't buff cards because you can't give players a refund. When a card gets nerfed, you can disenchant for full crafting dust. If a card gets buffed, the people who disenchanted it when it sucks feel ripped off and there's no good fix because you can't say "we buffed this card, so for a week you can craft it for the dust you would get from disenchanting it."

The defense is bullshit too. Either you state that changing a minions stat / mana ratio is to dangerous (Which is what evil heckler and ice rager does DE FACTO), or you say it doesn't matter and you don't care.
If it really does not matter, then why are people so outraged that people want rid of those 2 cards and instead buff the old ones? Doesn't affect you anyway right? Doesn't even cost you money or dust.
<Insert Defense here>
People are outraged because people love to get mad about irrelevant things on the internet? This doesn't effect the day-to-day of Hearthstone in ANY way whatsoever, at all, yet people are finding non-existant reasons to bitch and moan despite every CCG game in history doing the same thing. I can only assume everyone was running Magma Rager...
Trump also had a history with Magic. So unfortunately, as great a player as he is and as smart a person as he is, he is brainwashed when it comes to this aspect.
Kripparian's view is the correct one. Noxious is also good.
Also...you can't disenchant basic cards anyways, so buffing them wouldn't cause any problem.

So because he disagrees with you, he's brainwashed. Maybe Kripp has brainwashed you? I'm fully with Brode and Trump on this one, was before I heard their viewpoints, and I've barely ever played MTG.
I've yet to hear a single actually good reason why "powercreep" on two unplayed cards is a bad thing.
Trust Ben Brode? You know he is head of hearthstone? He doesn't exactly have the players' best interest in mind, it's all about the benjamins to him.
Also many great reasons have been given, the other side has stupid 'progress...yes level up magma rager to ice rager, so satisfying'....or 'it doesn't matter'. Very convincing.

It not mattering is a pretty convincing argument to me because nobody has yet to give a reason why it DOES matter. A new card (from a new pack-type) is better than a card in the BASIC set provided to players. I still don't see why the community is up in arms here.
So your line of thinking is, it is okay if the BASIC set (capitalized in your post to emphasize), is power creeped. So to take it further, if all the cards in the basic set were made obsolete by power creep in newer sets, that would be fine. Or do we draw the line at 2 cards? 3 cards? 5? Is it okay if beginners start with all useless obsolete cards, and have to do their dailies with those trying to eek out wins through a lot of luck? How far do we take this? The classic set is old, do we start strictly power creeping those cards in the future? Will it be by rarity maybe only commons? Or is it okay if a direct power creep of ragnaros is released. He's old after all.

I think the primary reason is the 'slippery slope argument' based on people's previous experince with CCGs. Once card obsoletion begins it can spiral out of control very quickly, especially when there's money to be made, but at the expense of people's enjoyment and hard earned collections. It irritates people that in HS there's just no need for this kind of power creep when the original minion can be buffed. It also takes up a slots on the new expansion where you might have had some nice spicey new card.
I think it's the obsoletion of booty bay bodyguard which is really winding people up as they are replacing it with a semi-playable card. If they would just patch 'pirate' on to booty bay everyone would calm down.
Ice Rager and Evil Heckler dilute the quality of TGT packs. People say they are just commons, use 40 dust. No, I would prefer if there were legendaries. Cause you wouldn't get a million copies of these crappy instant 5 dust cards. So besides the power creep issue, they are flat out useless additions to the expansion.
Anyone who calls ice rager or evil heckler 'power creep' do not understand what power creep is.
Anyone who thinks ice rager or evil heckler is good card design is a moron.
But they a well-designed. They are there to remind us that cards from the basic set won't be vanilla standards forever. Look at Yeti... and look how Piloted Shredder took his place.
Instead of calling intelligent people by the word ''moron'' think twice before posting. That can just help the community.

So you're simultaneously crying that this is a disgraceful power creep and so unfair to new players with their bad cards; AND that it dilutes the quality of TGT because the new "power creeped" cards are "crappy", "instant dust", "flat out useless".
Do you wonder why nobody seems to be much bothered by your whining?
I don't think Ice Rager is power creep. In most cases, for neutral vanilla minions, their total stat points (attack plus health) equals their mana cost times two, plus one. {Take Spider Tank, for example. It costs 3 mana and has 3 attack 4 health. (3x2)+1=3+4} Ice Rager's total stats are 7, which makes sense for a 3 mana cost vanilla card. Magma Rager isn't just bad, its blatantly understatted. It is understatted even with the basic set. Ice Rager is simply how Magma Rager should have been, and I'm okay with that.
Evil Heckler, on the other hand, is certainly of power creep. I don't need to compare it to Booty Bay Bodyguard at all. I think we can all agree Taunt 'costs' one stat point. Frostwulf Grunt is a River Crocolisk with one less health, Ironfur Grizzly is a Spider tank with one less health, Senjin Shieldmasta is a Chillwind Yeti with one less attack. So, a 5 attack 4 health minion with taunt (Evil Heckler) has 10 stat points. It should cost 4 and a half mana (using my mana rule from the last paragraph, 4.5x2+1=10). For every neutral vanilla minion before TGT, they have rounded half mana costs up (Core Hound has 14 stat points, should cost 6.5 mana, rounded up to 7. Lord of the Arena has 12 stat points, should cost 5.5 mana, rounded up to 6). Evil Heckler is breaking a precedent that has been set by every neutral vanilla minion before it.
Don't compare new cards to just one similar old card, compare them to all the old cards. I hope you guys understood my breakdown.

That's a wonderful thing to be reminded of. Then next the classic set won't be enough forever, and on it goes.
Lol, brilliant defense.

I think this would be perfect. Magma Rager would still be shit. But at least it's stat-to-mana ratio would make sense, and it would be a unique card.
Magma Rager is already unique...

Magma Rager should something similar to Son of the Flame 3 mana 6/3 with battlecry.
