Lol you expect 8 hours of maintenance to be sufficient to roll out TGT? The first day will be riddled with failed purchases and server overload, 2nd day will be plagued with inability to log in and auto kick off the server, Blizzard will shut it down on day 3 for another maintenance (fastest response time), 4th day will see the release on EU but NA will still have issues, 5th day they would have finally fixed NA.
So yea, 24th it is.
When you schedule an upgrade for a system you have to plan ahead for how long it will take to readjust the architecture. In this case, a new board, new mechanic and new cards. There will already have been several hundred hours of testing on a closed system to iron out as many bugs as possible. Once the update begins, it is designed to run as smoothly and quickly as possible with extra time allotted to make sure there are tests carried out before it becomes available for general use.
In terms of the 24th, I get the whole system clock forward thing but as this is so widely known as to how you can get a sneak peak at the cards maybe it's a red herring. As someone said earlier, it would simply be a case of changing a few lines of code to bring the date forward. I honestly think they will try to get people in as soon as they can to get their quarterly profits up. There has been a huge demand for the pre-purchase that has definitely sky rocketed since the full release yesterday. People who have already paid is good for Blizzard but then there will be people buying a few more packs on top of those which is where they will really make their money.
Absolutely, they want to make a fun game but profits will always be their ultimate goal - although admittedly in Blizzard's case, they plow most of it back into development. Just like EA.
There's no actual evidence of the release being the 18th except speculation that doesn't fit with actual evidence. It means Blizzard wouldn't tell us until right before release when they've always told us at least a week beforehand. It's considering the way the patch is coming out even though that's exactly how they did it last expansion.
And it's because everyone wants to not have to wait a few more days.
The August 1st rage was based on the same thing. People wanted it early so when it didn't come they got angry over it.
Blizzard will announce the date before the date arrives. Just please wait for that.
The tuesday patch actually means in my opinion that we will see a Tavern brawl in the sense of: all TGT cards are unlocked => have fun! Which is a great way to get you hyped on the new cards by playing around with all the cool new legendaries etc. and will probably make you buy all the more packs if yo dont get the cards you played around with.
I also believe that the cards will be available in Arena first like last time to make you burn some of that pack money aswell.

people need to remember it's software, there will be bugs, it will need to be fixed and patched and things will need to be analysed and any unintended consequences will need to be addressed. This is why the expansion will be patched in on the 18th and everything will be tested with a Tavern Brawl/Arena in a limited and controlled environment to make sure things work as intended and to give people a go at some of the new cards before the full blown release on the 24th, this is how GvG was handled and the statements of the dev team and philosophies they adhere to around adding extra cards strongly suggest this will be the case as it is their deliberate intention to minimise chaos and confusion. This is precisely why there has been a protracted card release schedule in the lead up to tgt and why solo adventures are implemented in wings, again it's in the statements from the devs themselves and really is the best way to approach it in order to make sure things go smoothly with such a big implementation.
If they randomly just surprise implemented this massive amount of cards things would likely not go according to plan.
Too much evidence for 24th/25th release date to assume otherwise. The only precedent for this in the game has them opening up the cards for use in Arena about a week prior to the actual release. The ability to play with the new cards in Arena also happened on patch day last time.
Why would they give us a weeks notice, the ability to Arena them before release, and time after the patch to fix bugs prior to the release the first time, then just drop the release with no notice, no chance to Arena before release and no time to fix bugs after the patch before releasing it for competitive play this time?
I want to believe everyone saying the 18th, but sorry, all previous evidence indicates that we will be waiting another week for TGT.
I guess there will be a last-chance-type announcement regarding the 50packs+CB pre-purchase bonus before the release since the offer expires with the release.

you dont understand how quarterly profits work. I think you have an idea but if you did a little research you would have your answer instead of spouting misinformation like you know a thing or two. They just had their quarter and whether this launches tomorrow, next week or next month, its all going into ATVI's next Q3 report. get your 'facts' straight.
8 hour maintenance on the 18th this Tuesday? Ribbons disappear on the 24th if you set your clock forward hurrrrrdurrrr??? You guys realize that the 24th has just been a placeholder date all along and could have been changed with just a simple value adjustment right? Get your heads out your asses people, its coming out on the 18th.

Oh, still waiting... Maybe if I pull my head out of my ass it would have been released yesterday...
They really should have given an official date now, considering so many spent $50 in advance. For something they have no clue the realse date of! :/ You wouldn't see that anywhere else.

Hmm, that's weird its the 19th.. and no TGT? Looks like maybe you were the one who needed to get your head out of your ass, huh?
I dont think its the 24th. it could be the 31th tho. they want to announce a "last chance of pre purchase" and the release date one week before imo and they have not done this yet. Moreover i tested it with the ribbon again and its still there on the 24th/26th. Hopefully im wrong but it could be, couldnt be?
Yup, it's highly unlikely to release it before they make an official last-chance-announcement for the 50 packs.

Is 50 packs enough for descent part of tgt collection? I'm F2Player and i have only 5000 gold. Should I bye 50 more packs?
18th will provably just be TGT arena and possibly tavern brawl. You can provably open packs on the 24th.
I didn't have a signature so Flux added one for me.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
I also believe it will be the 24/25th

24/26 ;).
as expected TGT brawl before main release

these issues have been fixed and there is no reason to believe that it will be a problem on this next release.
