My guess would be that the effect on Shaman would seem to be the weakest, then turns out to be the better, if not the best, of upgrade.
The fact that it is a battlecry and not a persistent effect only if the minion is in play is already huge. The "you can choose" add with "can summon multiple copies of the same totem" completely seal off the problem with the Shaman's HP.
But then, it is still just 1 out of 30 cards....
The more I think about it, the more I realize it's a shaman card. Shaman is getting a whole ton of reasons to spam their hero power. They are also one of the classes that naturally go past turn 6 (think fire elementals). The new minions so far are attempting to give them an early game that can also be used in late game (early game to fill up the board and make good trades, late game to combo with buff cards). Meanwhile, how many times have a shaman's life banked on getting just the right totem. We have videos of games where getting 5 taunt totems in a row or that spell damage right then meant the shaman won the game.
So we have a class that is now synergizing their hero power similar to what we saw of quartermaster/muster, then a card that boosts their hero power and eliminates the biggest things holding their hero power back, RNG and the 1-totem limit, on a class that traditionally plays a slow game.
The only other class I can see this card working for is control warrior. Everyone else either goes too fast or won't get enough use out of him. Even warlock doesn't need him since the deck that needs the hero power most, handlock, doesn't exactly care that much about preserving their life total and doesn't exactly have a lot of room for a slow setup play like this.
People severely underestimate how strong options are in this game. Having the option to 100% reliably get spell power or heal your minions for one to put them out of a specific range or put up a taunt at a specific time is a very very strong ability. Any of those three things can single-handedly win a game in some not-too-uncommon situations.
Stop looking at the totems themselves and look at their effects and realize you can choose one at will any turn and apply it to the situation as needed. The utility is off the charts. You will rarely ever find a turn where one of those three effects isn't helpful.
I dont see this in Shaman at all, in fact it is the weakest out of all the replacements. You can all ready control to a point what totem you get anyway. Its kinda unfortunate. I would of like to see like totems having 2 more stats. Like taunt is a 4hp, Heal heals for 2, Attack has 2/2 that sort of thing
You can. just summon 2 of the same one. Two heal totems = 2 hps. Two spellpower totems. The thing not only lets you choose what you want but also lets you duplicate.
Personally, I'd MUCH rather have a 100% chance at a spellpower totem than a 25% chance at a 2/2 searing totem.
The text does not say you can summon 2. Only that you can choose the summon. So if it summons 2 thats better. However I am going off what the text clearly does not say. We assume that because everyone else get pretty much double hero power that it is the same with shamon. But it does not clearly say so
Seems strong. Looks like Sylvannas won't be holding that 6-drop spot for long.
I doubt that, sad to say. Sylvanas Windrunner is 5/5 and if not silenced, steals something unless played around. Justicar Trueheart is 6/3 which dies to a 3/2 and in this fast meta, many games don't make it to turn 10 anyway. Also there may be some super taunt yet to be revealed that's superior to Sunwalker.
Just kidding people! But thinking about... Against a face hunter! The taunt totem can save your skin or against a grimp warrior the storm can clean easily. I like this, since shamy plays confortable to mid and late game! (Sorry for my poor english)!

There's the fact that Trueheart's ability is a battlecry, which makes it literally unstoppable. The 6/3 is just a bonus body.
People are underestimating these improved hero powers.
I think this is definitely one of the strongest hero powers. I can't tell how many times I needed to get a specific totem to win or to stay alive. Being able to choose is a huge buff, I'd say way more so that getting 1 extra damage like the damage classes are getting. You can always empower your spells if you need that extra burst, you can always put down a taunt to protect your board, you can always get the heal to get your minions out of range for your opponent...

You mean the weakest right? The other hero powers have way more impact on the game. Shaman still summons one totem. Yeah you can choose but its not have the impact as the others.
Thanks for the glasses... now I can summon the totem I actually want like I should have been able to do in the first place. Also, you already have a 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% chance to get what you want anyway, without a crappy 6/3 for 6 body.
I would be much more impressed with a 6/3 for 6 that makes random totems that draw from the next-tier of totems... mana tide, flametongue, totem golem, vitality totem. While I'm not a fan of randomness, I think this would be worth playing and in line with the current thinking with rng based shaman.
People, Shaman got the second worst upgrade, the worst being Hunter. Let's say, you and your opponent have similar RNG, and got Justicar out on turn 6, because if you got better RNG you would've won, and true vice versa. If your opponent is Mage/Druid, they can just clear your totems with hero power EVERY TURN. If it's Rogue/Paladin they can out-value your totems. Priest and Warrior can stall until fatigue, in which they'll just out-fatigue you, and Priest can use Auchenai Soulpriest to deal 4 damage to your minions as well. Warlock will just out-card you, in Shaman-mirror omg looks at those Stoneclaw totems staring into each other. Even Hunter will just out-face you.
Please, just realize how bad this is for Shaman, because Shaman only got its RNG removed, while all other classes are getting PURE VALUE.

yes it is worse for Shaman. But that doesn't mean it is bad for shaman. Just because their upgrade isn't as good as others doesn't mean that it won't be an amazing card in a shaman totem deck. Or that this is bad for Shaman.

We're not assuming things. Check the earlier posts. It was confirmed by blizzard via twitter. You CAN double up on totems.
Note that the game has a habit of not specifically detailing EVERYTHING about a card in the text. Blizzard goes by the 'nothing but the truth, but not the whole truth' in card text to avoid 3 paragraph complex cards. Thus why cards like this has to be followed up with a lot of twitter questions.
but yes, it's confirmed that you can only get the 4 hero power totems, you can choose them, and you can get the same one multiple times.
And yes, it makes the power awesome, especially when they are pushing a totem-based hero power spamming shaman build.

It doesn't say choose a totem summon 2 of them. It literally says summon a totem of your choice. Blizzard saying you can double up on totems simply means that you can have more than one of the same totem on the field at the same time which was not previously possible by just using your hero power. You would have a max of 4, 1 of each of searing, stoneclaw, wrath of air, and healing. Now you can have duplicates up to filling your board, so you could summon 7 stoneclaw totems. but it doesn't summon 2 of them at the same time at least not from the card text i'm reading. i apologize if their are any grammatical errors etc.

unless they want to be the best they can be.
If this you can choose summon what the totem you like it would be a strong one

2 mana on demand spell power than stacks every turn if they don't kill them off. Sign me up.
this'll go well in midrange totem shaman.
Shaman got the short end of the stick in my opinion. This is great, but its WAY too slow to gain value.
People say Justicar Trueheart is shiet on Shaman. But guess they are wrong.
I just tested this on my Inspire Shaman, and won 3 games out of 5. Thunder Bluff Valiant makes this hero power so valuable.
