like with other MMOs around I'm interested in your opinions on the end game content of Hearthstone.
You can collect two of each card (1 for legendarys) and then build the theoretically best decks. Gaining missing cards is pretty easy since you just can craft them. I wonder if blizzard will be doing tournaments or a ranked ladder. And how they will rebalance certain cards to weaken"the best decks" everyone plays with.
Maybe they will gradually expand the card-base, maybe by adding themed expansions. The also can add more game mechanics - but I disliked some of those added mechanics in other TCGs.
I think eventually they will probably end up doing arena ladders/tournaments. It seems like nowadays with any competitive video game the end result is some kind of e-sport. It will be interesting to see if that will happen though, especially since the card game format is very conducive to that kind of thing.
I have been playing TCGs for several years know, I like some tournament formats especially like sealed deck etc. Since the luck but also the knowledge of each player factors in. But when I look at the current variety of cards spells and abilities within hearthstone I'm inclined to think that the game is way less complex than e.g. MtG was when it got released. And if you campare the current MtG with HS, HS just needs some more love :)
MtG is a different beast with more options because it's done manual and in person. MtG also has phases which create a different dynamic. For example, we will most likely not see any Instants in Hearthstone anytime soon, Blizzard has said they want to stay clear of those kinds of things because they slow down the gameplay by having to wait for the player to decide to play the instant or not. I'm sure with time that the card database will grow larger, and we'll see some new mechanics eventually overtime that add to the dynamic of Hearthstone.
Also Blizzard isn't targeting the hardcore TCG/CCG community, they are targeting casual play, with the potential for hardcore play. Therefore, they are looking to create more simple gameplay.
It's going to be nigh impossible to directly compare the support of Hearthstone to Magic, a game with a 20-year history and tens of thousands of cards available. And although Magic is currently experiencing its highest player-base ever, there were times in the past where its future was uncertain as well.
That being said, there will almost definitely be tournament support in some fashion, and very likely expansions every now and then to add some more variety to the card pool. They have a large amount of untapped source material to use in the Warcraft universe for future releases.
More items from the shop. There was a another thread on this a bit and I said that I think it would be cool if they added different heroes that you could buy.
You might be right, and I also like hearthstone being aimed at a more casual player base. MtG has some twists and effect-combos that make it even hard for veteran players to figure out what actually happened and who's won the game.
Instants and Interrupts might be possible - there are plenty of offical TCG computer-games out that implemented those functions very successful!
I hope that they keep Hearthstone casual. It's a lot more fun when you can play these quick games win or lose. I still think the possibility of e-sport, arena draft tournaments are going to happen. It might not become a huge thing but it will probably depend on how much interest there is once the game comes out live.
Interesting question. My first thought is continue adding cards and hero characters. However, the thing I'm liking about this game is it looks basic and accessible. If they add too much I'd probably be scared off. I've never played any card games like this before.
So, where do they go in the end? Off the top of my head I don't have a good solution. Maybe they can create a "custom game" area where people can create their own custom mods for it. Maybe the arena is where all the action will be and it will stay fresh for a good amount of time because there's a big luck factor.

I'm almost 100% sure they will add more cards if this game turns out to be a hit, which it seems like it will be. It will be interesting to see how they keep it simple and casual when they start expanding the # of cards and mechanics.
Using "end game" in meaningless for hearthstone since people will have very different goals. Many will be playing their "end game" from the beginning (arenas), some will feel "finished" after collecting every card. Some will want to craft gold versions of every card (without spending real life money this will take forever). Some will just log in and play casual games with no real goals.

I can see both sides of the argument

There will most likely be a ranked ladder, given the fact that there is a ranked system.
