And that's why the first thing that I do, always, after mulligan, is right click the opponent hero and slick squelch. I am looking forward for Blizzard to introduce this as a setting. Most useful.
The responses in this thread are pretty indicative already, I'd say.
I didn't expect anything else to come out of this thread. People love to tell other people "Get over it. Be more thick-skinned. Don't be so butthurt." It makes them feel a hell of a lot better about themselves being assholes. They want to be offensive, but they don't want others to be offended by it. Except they're often offended when others are offended. Should people be offended? I don't see why not.
Since when did people stop being offended when others are mean-spirited? Is that so commonplace now that people think it's normal to act like that? God I hope a lot of people here aren't parents teaching their kids that. There are lot of things people find offensive that they shouldn't, but being cruel to one another is definitely near the top of the list of things you should be offended by, even if it's not happening to you. Being a dick doesn't make you a good person, and being "thick-skinned" isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Playing arena game, I was 3 and 0. Go up against another mage and he drops Fel Reaver. I have a Fel Reaver in my deck too, but I didn't draw it. He wins the game and says "I'm sorry." I friend request him. I ask him, "Why did you say you're sorry?" He responds:
"It was an easy game and you suck" "LMAO" "Sorry" "Sorry" "Sorry" "Sorry"
Then unfriends me.
Yeah... what a great community this game has.
So, one guy acts like a jerk against you after a random game, and your conclusion is that the entire community is bad because of it? WOW man, you are no better than that guy...
Based on how many people spam emotes to BM people, even streamers doing it intentionally, it's a pretty good conclusion. I've played enough games in my life to know that when people are anonymous, or rather, they don't know the people they're talking to, they say and do really stupid shit.
So, with your last sentence you are saying that ALL people, when they are anonymous, acts like jerks... first, it is sad that you think like that, and second, why are you complaining specificaly specifically about the Hearthstone community, if it is mostly composed by anonymous people too?
You're extrapolating "all" from his comments. He actually implied a trend towards it with his comment, not that it's the only way things go. And certainly has some pretty strong backing. There heave been multiple studies done on the effect. You seem to like to jump to conclusions man.
For me, every time but one that I've been friended by someone after a game, it's so they can insult me and unfriend. There has only been one time that the person actually wanted to talk about things. Of the numerous times I try and friend someone after a particularly close match to commend them on their victory or discuss some of the decisions made throughout the game, the vast majority of the time they come back at me with insults and then unfriend. The rest of the time they just don't accept my request.
That being said, it doesn't seem any more hostile or toxic than any other PvP community I've encountered, and the boards certainly show that there is a mix of personality types here beyond my personal experiences.
That kind of player is probably frustrated from something like a losing streak.
I think there should be more emote that encourage fun playing. Like “Outch!” or “Laugh out loud”. Cause there’s lots of goofy and unbelievable situation happening in Hearthstone and not always a way to express it.
But, I have to give it to you, it’s annoying when players use the emotes to give you a hard time by using it negatively.
EVERY Multiplayer game is toxic - you will never get away from it these days. Dust yourself off and move on, or, like most people, ignore random friend requests and Squelch your opponent in the beginning. If you are still bothered, quit the game and come back after you are no logner frustrated with it. These threads pop up all the time - nothing will change.

I disagree a lot with this comment and I made a thread about it, called "A lot of nice and polite people play Hearthstone", some time ago... you can check it here (if you want, of course):
At moments like those, I find it helpful to remember that HS is to a very high degree played by guys who can't get laid to save their lives, yet somehow still believe they are smarter than everyone else.

To specify, I have no problems with Emotes (aside from the very rare person who just spams "Sorry" every time they play a card). I understand that there's too much room for interpretation, and I just concentrate on trying to come across as polite and respectful as I intend. Besides, you can always squelch/be squelched. My observations were based solely on post-game friending/chatting, and like I said, it's my personal experience. Maybe it's not representative of the bulk of HS, I'm just reporting my experiences, but they do seem to be echoed by others.
I'm sure there's plenty of nice people who play HS. I'm sure plenty of the people I have not tried to friend, and probably even some of the ones who never accepted my request, are perfectly nice and respectful people. With a population as large as HS's, there's bound to be anyway. Your other post you linked to certainly implies as much (and thanks for that). I'd just love to experience those people more often and the rude ones less. If your experiences have had different results, I'm pleased to hear it.

I do this all the time, I friend request people to call them bullshit and trash.
There's just no other way to provide someone feedback about face hunter, secret pal, or aggro druid. I can only communicate that they are ruining my gaming experience and that they are FOTM pieces of shit.

I see nothing wrong with this.
Then you have a problem..
Seems like you don't really enjoy the game, only flame..
let me guess what you play? dragon paladin? what majestic deck do you play? and tell me why that deck is better than any meta deck in any way so hypocrite, probably just a handlock or control warrior and you think you are so mighty..
just so you know I add people like you for the laughs like anybody will feel offended from salty losers.
When I add someone it's to ask them a question or something I ended up adding actual friends who I enjoy spectating and disscussing just from long games we had or just from curiosity some people I just remove to not overload my friend list..

I play many decks, practically all classes, but I play decks that require a player to make decisions and adjust to my opponents' play. I have only been playing this game for a short time, 3-4 months, but I've seen it drastically take a turn for the worse. I do not know how else I can contribute to this problem other than communicate my opinion about deck choices and style of play to my opponents. You would surprised how many times someone will except my request and immediately begin find with "sorry", and say "piece of shit meta, can't beat them join them"

I play face hunter all the time, I take the deck online to beat people and gain gold/rank.
There's just no other way to provide someone feedback on how to play against face hunter, secret pal, or aggro druid. I can only communicate that this is part of the gaming experience and that (if they want) they can throw a tantrum like a piece of shit.
I got my first add and complain yesterday and to be honest I felt sorry for the dude.
Was playing in casual with a Mech/Rouge Im working on. He told me to fuck off and go play ranked with my legend deck and hes only playing basic cards. I really do feel sorry for new people, to be honest if I started the game just now I would give up quickly cos its no fun with all the net deckers around.
Sometimes I add someone after a particullarly fun and interesting game. Like the one where cho dropped out of a shredder and neither of us did anything about it. Just played until both boards were filled with hexed frogs. Heh. Good times. I sometimes add people just because they play the decks that are cool and interesting. (Mill Rogue against me will instantly get you a friend request)

Well met!
Why would you add someone to question why they sent an emote though? This seems like a personal problem.

I returned to this game much like how a recovering alcoholic can relapse.

That’s where the” Squelch” comes in.

Said some people, only to act like d-bag in this very thread.
