I've been saving gold playing only dailies for the last few months and recently started playing more often, I am tempted to buy 35 normal packs because I want cards like Ysera, Gromash, Harrison, but at the same time I want to wait for the next expansion. Anyone know how soon it might be and if it's worth hoarding gold for it?
Considering the new game mode tavern brawl has been announced it's safe to say that a card expansion won't be coming soon.
On another note do you have all of NAXX/BRM?
^ Assumes there is only one Hearthstone team and definitely not a design team and a development team. Ya know, something standard amongst game companies.
You could get 20 packs ans save the rest. If no new cards are coming out with the new content you will still have time to save some more. Also with 20 classic packs you have a good chance of getting some nice cards and will have a lot of dust to craft some.
I had the same question for days. Right now i'm only playing to finish my quests, since i already got 500 wins for the classes i have a complete deck. I want to play something different, but Druid with no Lore, Priest with no Auchenai, Paladin with no Equality and Rogue with no Prep seems wrong, incomplete.
Thanks for the input everyone. I don't like to play arena and there aren't any GVG cards I want, so I bought 35 classic packs.
Opened vancleeve, hogger, leeroy and TBK (wanted him too). DE'd the first 3 and crafted Harrison/Ysera, also crafted a pair of the 7 mana Druid epics to get everything I needed for ramp druid. Happy with my collection now, just want Grommash and maybe Alexstrasa someday.
I'm waiting until an announcement before spending any more gold. I'm around 3,300 saved right now. If they are going to announce an expansion for July, I should be able to buy 50-60 packs straight away. I'm still missing a few legendaries that I want (Toshley, Hogger, Baron Geddon and Foe Reaper are at the top of my list) but I have enough to make most competitive decks so I'm in no rush.
Can someone explain to me the benefits of banking your gold? I save up for what I want and then buy it. Arena is definitely the best value and acquiring the adventures is important if you haven't already done so.
You needed roughly 270 packs to complete GVG. So I would save up 27,000 gold for the next expansion.
I've opened half that many and I feel like my collection for GvG has been finished for quite some time. Most of the class epics and legendaries are unplayable. Once you craft Boom and have Naxx/BRM you're good outside of a couple key legendaries you should have a enough dust to pick up as you go.

There's literally nothing I NEED to craft. I can't really play more than a handful of matches a day due to job + family, so while technically I'm losing 30-40 gold per arena run, I more than make that up in dailies. I'm banking gold in the hopes I can avoid paying for anything besides adventures go forward.
So wrong. If you do not save gold, you basically will not have any new cards when expansion is out. Would you rather have all the new cards on the first day, or spread out the process over a few months? The answer should be clear.

my collection is still very shallow I have 3 decks fully built and they are hunter, zoo and grim patron, I only miss tirion for a mid range paladin and I want it ASAP.. so I don't really have a choice if I want to get tirion or another stample legendary or epic I am missing..
if I get grommash and rag + 2 shield slam 1 brawl and like 3 rares I got a control warrior ready (F2P player :P)
you are right.. though I should make a 2K reserve really but I will start when an expansion will be announced though.

If there is nothing you need than sure. If you are still needing cards or adventures the gold should be spent as soon as you have enough saved up. You collect no interest on your banked gold.
I started a month ago and after doing about 10 arenas I have decided to get all wings for both adventures. It will be a long 2 to 4 months but there are many good cards in the adventures that are necessary and cannot be acquired through other means.

1.5k gold right now, fighting to not buy packs...

Sounds like you got a good deal there!

As a devoted f2p Hearthstone player you should always hoard your gold. The cap is 20k so you still have a long way to go.
Is it wrong to buy packs every time i reach 100 gold? or should i just save it up and splash all in one go?
How the hell do you even save that much??? Once i get 100 gold i buy a pack :3

lol how can you save gold? every time I get to 100 gold it goes to a pack (as long as my current arena run is 4+ wins.

I just spent 5k gold the other day on packs just so I could craft some Golden's. #Likeaboss
I'm glad you bought the packs and congrats on your result. I hope you enjoy the new cards! :)
