So, the pricing for the new hero skins is confirmed at $9.99 (or foreign equivalent), with no method of purchasing using in-game currency.
Obviously, that rules out die-hard FTP players from ever having the new heroes on their side of the board. I've generally not been shy on spending money on Hearthstone, but somehow feel a bit disappointed by this release - I might pass completely but I haven't ruled it out yet.
Is anyone else put off by the cost for these? Or are there fans out there just champing at the bit to part with 90 USD for the new heroes and show off their willingness to sink pocket money into the game?
I'm F2P, and will remain so. Zero interest in these. Not sure I'd save for them even if I could buy them with gold, TBH, unless I had all possible cards.

I do not see myself spending 81€ just on different look for all of the heroes. It is very expensive. I might buy one or two in the long run, but this is definitely not something I jump on immediately.

it isnt 81 it is 89,97 :D also gta V cost less than that
It depends on the currency. I live in EU and I would pay Euro instead of Dollars.
I think that the whole set of new skins will cost 9 euros. As a blizzard Addict,i will buy one or two for sure, but if it is 81 euros for the whole set it's toooooooooooo much
Edit:I just read that each hero will cost 9 euros so i do not believe i am gonna buy them all.As i said,Rogue and Warlock will be my first 2 buys.
This is a really good thing. This will make a new income source(micro transactions) for Blizzard within Hearthstone, and this will allow them to be more genorous about other stuff liek rewards and new game modes :) Also, even for players who don't buy then, they can still appreciate to have the new heroes as opponents!
I don't know where people get this from, but there is no reason to believe that microtransactions will allow them to be generous with anything. You can't look at Hearthstone in a bubble, there are other upcoming games that need funding.
And yes, people will enjoy seeing the portraits for sure. I can already see the twitch chat going wild when Trump faces the mighty "P2W WARRIOR kappa"
I might buy Warrior and Mage. But not until I have a full collection of cards. I'm sure they have run the numbers and that this price point is something they feel people will pay. I would however have liked the new skins to be the opposite gender of the ones currently available.
Superjewmode activated! They have to make money too, i wont spend any real money on HS but atleast they can put some rly high gold price like 3k gold or something. Also how more deckslots will confuse new players but second hero icon wont do it?
Finally! A way to easily distinguish P2W'ers from players who have just invested a lot of time and effort into the game! This will give me an edge in the mind-game factor of the game.

Stop being so ignorant. Even if this won't change anything with the game itself, this is only a good thing. If people think it's too expensive, fine, don't buy it. But it gives people who wants to buy stuff like this more options. Some people are affected, and some not, but how can this be a bad thing in any way at all?
I didn't say it's a bad thing. I'm saying that the thought of [microtransactions >> generosity elsewhere] is incredibly naive.
7$ for a wing in blackrock or naxx, with a cool adventure, and some new cards.
10$ for a simple skin. this should cost 5$
Cardback too! Still not worth it 10$
Heroes should be priced at $4.99 is reasonable. They would sell more if they made the heroes cheaper. I wish you could even just pay that for the hero with out the card back or the background. Most of us change to the new card back each session, so for me it's not worth paying for a card back or background.
What it comes down to, to summarize this thread, is: "I'm too poor for these skins, i cannot afford them", but ofc rewritten in a more hidden way. Cuz let's face it, if you had unlimited funds you'd buy the skins.
<Snip>
People are mostly complaining about the ridiculous price for a mere skin. Most of us can afford such pity sum, but most of us also value our money in a different way. And, in that way, we feel that charging 10 bucks for a piece of 2D animation is ludicrous and a pure cash grab.
Notes: Let's keep this discussion on-topic, shall we?

Haha, if each new hero had come with their own additional deckslot then a couple of these would have gone straight to my debit card

Way too pricey, I won't be bothering.
81 EUR not USD

No this is racist.

Skins are for idiots, so they are priced for idiots :D

Sounds fair. I'll be buying a few.

If they would give you two more deck slots per hero purchased then we would feel like we are getting more value.
Those "idiots" are paying for your free entertainment, as well as any other upcoming f2p Blizzard game (hots says hello). You should be grateful.
That said, it's worth it to keep a very close eye on the direction of the game.
