As long as GP warrior is not nerfed by any means, I would not really aim to hit legend(plus here in UK everybody are busy having exams)
I've been successful to reach pre-legend ranks in the past few seasons, using mainly anti-meta decks. However, I'm really getting bored doing so. I'm not saying the anti-meta decks I uses are boring, but that frustration when you once switch to a ordinary deck and come across 3 face hunter or GP warrior in a row, that really breaks my heart.

Playing the meta can be favorable to any decktype.

Used to be a proud Handlock player.
Legend 17 times.
Still flirting with the ladder from times to times with Renolock.
I probably wont reach it this season unless I end up finding a fun deck that beats the meta. Too little motivation to try hard, and already got the cardback.
Summer vacation just started for me (WOOO!) so I'll probably be able to soak a lot more time into HS. I'll probably use control warrior, oil rogue, and control hunter. If I find a fun and for some reason competitive deck (cough 5 mana+ minions only ramp druid cough), I'll use casual, and that'll take precedence over my climb (cause the game's about having fun right?).
Not sure if I'll push again for legend this season. I got to the high ranks last season for the first time using an early game Zoolock deck with some personal preferences of mine. Highest i got with this deck was Rank 1 with 3 stars:
Also seeing as we're talking about the time it takes to get to legend in this thread a bit: I got to rank 5 with 10 days left in the season and hit legend on the 3rd to last day of the season.
I have Golden Hunter a very long time now. Before the current Face hunter existed. I used to play a lot of mid-range/control Hunter. Yes, it once existed.
My advice is: don't play too much HS. Month or two ago I had "a Hearthstone Day" when I just played Hearthstone for about 5 hours. In those 5 hours I think I played about 50 games and won 30 of them, so win ratio was pretty good. BUT after that I got really bored of Hearthstone, I think you can call it an overdose. Now I don't even want to play Hearthstone, I just do quests from time to time to get more cards and stay "competitive". So learn from mistakes of mine and you will be fine.
I make that mistake all the time, spending the first two days of the season laddering until I reach rank 10-12. Then I get bored, stop playing Hearthstone for two weeks, decide to play again, conclude it's not worth it anymore to try to reach Legend, play Arena for the rest of the month, aaaaand repeat. I would advice to play it about 2-3 hours a day max.
I expect the new Tempo Mage to rise to the top in the early field. It has a good matchup against Hunter, Druid and all variations of Warrior. I'm going to play it for at least the first few days of the season, and I antipate getting to Rank 5'ish with it. After that point, I plan on reevaluating and either teching it up against the mirror or switching to Zoo, which is probably its best counter.
That's why you have to reach Rank 5 in the first 15 days.i learned with the hard way..............
If you can't reach rank 5 in the first 10 days, you are not good enough to reach legend.
I disagree. You can skip the first 20+ days in a month and still get to Legend. It's also easier to rank up later in the season when you are not playing all high skilled/Legend players in your matchups. My friend went from rank 3 to Legend in 3 hours last season. If you can play against the meta and use a good counter deck, you can ladder up very quickly in one day.
I finished last season on rank 3 4* and thats my 1st month to try get legend(never passed rank 10 before) but i didnt have much time coz of university. This month i will try harder coz i will have more free time. :)

Doubt I'll get legend again, I am the nonstop rank 5 mediocrity.
Good luck to everyone trying!

Eventually hit Legend from rank 2 by switching over to a more mid-range version made by Sigma as seen below:

Rank 5's not mediocre, don't sell yourself short!
Unbowed. Unbent. Unbroken.
As Blizzard said Rank 5 to legend is the 2% of the players

Legend Player Every Season
I'm gonna try to hit legend with Shadow Priest this time. It'll take forever.
Have a great deck that's really, really cheap? Help the new players out
Check out my deck from Last Season to Legend. It's good against most control match ups, especially if you're facing Warriors and Handlocks.
