Hello everyone. I have been a forum lurker here for about sic months, and I have been playing Hearthstone for about ten months, I Have been consistantly hitting a wall around rank 15. I need your advice, I would like to hit rank 10. However, I am a FTP player, I have naxx, most of BRM and a solid collection of most basics, commons, rares and a few epics and legends.
I have listed above all my decks that I am currently running. I also have a zoolock, Secret Hunter and cancer aggro rogue, these however were netdecked. I do not feel I can claim them as my own.
"They wrote in the old days that it is sweet and fitting to die for one's country. But in modern war, there is nothing sweet nor fitting in your dying. You will die like a dog for no good reason."
"There's many a boy here today who looks on war as all glory but it is all hell."
I'm no Handlock expert, but Leeroy and Ogre Brute just seem wrong here. I would replace them with Ancient watchers and Defender of Argus maybe. DO you have Thaurissan?
Yeah, I had the watchers in there but I just didnt work. With all the tempo and aggro I was seeing I needed to get something in there that could do damage control. Leroy, and the dual power over whelming is a 14 dmg bust on a charge, it has saved me idk how many times. I pulled both of the defenders for two hellfires
"They wrote in the old days that it is sweet and fitting to die for one's country. But in modern war, there is nothing sweet nor fitting in your dying. You will die like a dog for no good reason."
"There's many a boy here today who looks on war as all glory but it is all hell."
Cut a siphon, cut Leeroy, and both powers. Add in 2 defenders, another owl, and ancient watchers. The only legendary I would absoulutely reccomend is dr. Boom because its dr. Boom. Watch other people play handlock and use common sense and rationale while making decisions.
Cut a shadowflame and add Emperor Thaurissan. Lifecoach's favorite deck is handlock and he plays it all the time on his stream. Eventually you'll figure out your own playstyle and learn to play the deck. Other people can probably help you better, I got used to the game pretty naturally because I played Yugioh before albeit theyre completely different.
Add Zombie Chow to your handlock. One or two depending on how often you face aggro decks. This card is absolutely amazing when going second and having the coin. You know how sometimes on turn three it gets really awkward managing your hand size and sometimes the best play is to pass? playing a chow on turn one gives you that extra card later and makes Mountain Giant cost three on turn four and allows for a coined Sunfury Protector if you need it.
Just play the GP warrior, or Simply the legendary Face Hunter deck. And mate, you can't even be serious to tell me you're not playing Face Hunter with Leeroy Jenkins, craft whatever card you have to since you've already got the most expensive one. Aggro decks gets you up to rank 11 really quick.
Alternatively you can run Deathlord-based Priest decks to counter all these aggro decks as I usually do at the start of the season.
I'm no Handlock expert, but Leeroy and Ogre Brute just seem wrong here. I would replace them with Ancient watchers and Defender of Argus maybe. DO you have Thaurissan?
Old style handlock used to do Leeroy/PO. They don't anymore. There's a combo warlock that does which looks like handlock but really isn't.
As far as the OP and watchers, they ARE made for the early game. AWatcher + taunt. Watcher + owl. Watcher + Shadowflame. Works well vs aggro.
Chows can work. So can Earthen Rings.
The raging warrior deck is.well... that's Grim patron warrior. Honestly just look up some of the 5000 decks out there for ideas there. Grim Patron is a #1 deck but it's not always easy to use.
THe healing priest, firstly drop the warden, get Light of the Narru. Same Warden + awesome card for many MANY reasons. Overall though, you're missing a good key epics in priest to make it work. There's no bigger bite that you have. It's all reactive cards to hold back a force. Might want to put that one aside for now, especially since you have Patron warrior as is :P.
Oh and I KNOW you have Emperor since you have Grim. BOTH DECKS NEED HIM!!!
So yeah, tweak up the handlock and grim patron and study up on how other people use the deck. Those are NOT easy decks to play and a lot of what you normally do doesn't work well with them. Thus you want to do alot of research if you want to learn how to use those decks. Still, they are top of the heap so it's well worth learning it if you don't mind the struggle (and you have zoo/hunter for when you need a pick me up).
LaStly, not wanting to netdeck is fine (myself I never cared and run both equally but everyone is different), but DO compare your decks with other decks that are similar and other players. If you want to craft decks, you should be studying HARD from other deck makers. Instead of, say, netdecking grim patron, go find out who are making that deck (well those decks, again there's 5000 versions) and learn from them. WHY did they do what they did. What are they working on now? Learn and master their technique so that you can use it in your own creations.
Aka, instead of netdecking the deck, netdeck the CREATOR!
*mindblown*
(sorry, the joke fit there. But seriously, study up on them. It'll help you out.)
You should cut light warden from your priest deck. It's just not good unless it pops out as freebie from light of the Naaru. Other than that it seems fine, and should get you above 10 easy. Your handlock isn't ideal, but it should get you past 10 easy. You really need to scrutinize your play. Whenever you lose, you need to think about exactly why/when you lost. Was it a card, was it tempo, could you have tried another line of play and if you did how would that have panned out etc. And of course it's not always going to be something you did, sometimes your opponent just has the nuts, but if you're consistently hitting a wall at 15, I guarantee a lot of it is coming from your end.
I've been playing since beta, but I started playing on Europe around november, less than 10 months ago, and I pretty much only log on 2 or three times a week at most to clear out quests and play an arena here and there. My card pool is tiny, I'm playing super inefficient decks, and I'm not playing that much, but I don't think I've ended the month below 13 since I started the Europe account. Hopefully I'm not coming off like a dick here, that's not my intention. My point is that while the card selection suggestions of previous posters are totally sound I don't think they're going to help you a lot until you clean up your play. glhf
I'm no Handlock expert, but Leeroy and Ogre Brute just seem wrong here. I would replace them with Ancient watchers and Defender of Argus maybe. DO you have Thaurissan?

As far as the OP and watchers, they ARE made for the early game. AWatcher + taunt. Watcher + owl. Watcher + Shadowflame. Works well vs aggro.
I know that, I'm playing since Beta. Seen many, many changes over time to various popular decks. But since Leeroy's nerf nobody uses it in Handlock anymore. Agree on the rest. I think you'd be mad not to use watchers. They're so cheap and versatile. They help create a cheap stalling wall, which often becomes an offensive one with owl/shadowflame.
"They wrote in the old days that it is sweet and fitting to die for one's country. But in modern war, there is nothing sweet nor fitting in your dying. You will die like a dog for no good reason."
"There's many a boy here today who looks on war as all glory but it is all hell."
Okay, thank you all very much for the help! This is what I need, I belive what I will do is tinker with my handlock I will try and create all the diffrent Variations that you all have proposed. I will set aside the priest, and focus on my warrior deck.
A quick think about the warrior, it started as a raging wargan combo 24dmg burst deck. I tinkered around with it a lot, but then when the grim patron decks showed up I started adding them into the deck, the deck is more of a aggro combo rather than a pure grim patron. That is why i have the axe flingers, I use the grimpatron as a board clear. If you guys would like to add me and help coach me for a few games in both of those decks I would be abliged.

After 10 months of playing ( even if only half an hour/day ) and you are stuck at rank 15 ( even with the most basic of cards ) tells me two things, either you're trolling or you just need to find another card game as HS prolly is not for you.
I mean you play just for fun or to have fun, but being stuck at such a degrading rank so far into the season is in no way, shape or form fun. I hate to be 'That Guy but someone had to say it., i do however wish you the best of luck on your climb, cheers.
If your goal is to rank up in general, you should consider looking up some of the decks that others have recommended.
If your goal is to improve your own decks and rank up with those, I totally appreciate that, and I'll offer some general advice.
Handlock:
As someone else said, this is sort of a mashup between a true handlock and a combo deck. You said that Ancient Watcher wasn't helping you versus aggro, but it's a staple in the design of a handlock deck. Consider changing out your combo pieces for the "essential" handlock cards of Ancient Watcher and Defender of Argus, and some other tech cards that will help you versus aggro, such as Zombie Chow and Earthenring Farseer. Or go full combo-oriented with Arcane Golem, Faceless Maniuplator, and more stalling cards (Twisting Nether?!).
Raging Warrior:
I appreciate your inclusion of Raging Worgen and Axe Flinger. These are 2 cards that I think are really fun and make cool combos. Unfortunately it seems like they're sorta mashed into a typical Grim Patron deck, which makes this deck a less-well-tuned version of Grim Patron. Consider going more aggressive. Axe Flinger is widely considered a bad card, but if you consider a situation where your opponent is very low health when Axe Flinger comes out, it can be dangerous to remove it. I think it has a place in a deck where you pound your opponent's face. Add more charge minions like Kor'kron Elite, and remove control oriented cards like Gorehowl and Brawl with things like Arcanite Reaper and Mortal Strike. I had a fair amount of success above your rank before BRM with a similar deck, built around Charge + Raging Worgen + Inner Rage and aggression in general. So consider adding Charge if you want to go all out for the Worgen combos. The extra 2 damage over Warsong Commander becomes 4 extra damage on the Worgen, and helped me finish a lot of games.
Healing Priest:
It looks like this deck is strong against aggro but will peter out quickly without lucky Northshire action against everything else. Consider moving the mana curve up and add some heavy hitters like Ragnaros and Dr. Boom. Your deck needs a finisher. Even if you don't count the Northshires (which I don't think you should), you have four 1-drops, which is too many. Consider cutting at least one Holy Nova since you have Auchenai + Circle. Also, I would cut Thoughtsteal. People seem to think it's essential for Priests, but I would rather draw my own cards that I know have a place in my deck. Consider Power Word: Shield instead.
The first time I hit rank 10 I played Handlock exclusively, but that was when Naxx just came out. If you dedicate 3-4 hours a day minimum and learn to make smarter plays you should hit rank 10 in a week or two. It's a good idea to stick with one or two solid decks with different play styles (eg. 1 agro, 1 control) and I hate to say it but in this meta that usually that means a Face deck and an anti-Face deck.
Benjoigami, yeah honestly. I would like to make my own decks work, but I am not opposed to creating a pure handlock. I can try and improve my warrior deck, I think I will drop the priest. I just do not have the staple cards that are needed.
okay, so If we say three solid decks. Control~(handlock), Anti-Face (grimpatron), and aggro.. Either rogue or hunter...
how would you change my warrior deck to make it more anti aggro, I have had success against aggro with my warrior before. So what needs to be changed?

Hey OP, just wanna your decks look normal, so the reason you're losing is not your decks. Normal balanced decks like your can usually carry players up to ranks 10~5. I think you need coaching. No matter how I look at it, your decks are fine, so it's you. Ask for people to watch you. A second perspective is always good :)

If you're happy and you know it... well that's good :)
IMO, would maybe drop one Shadowflame and one Ironbeak Owl in favour of 2 Hellfire. It allows you to control the early board state a bit more effectively in matchups like tempo mage or zoolocks, plus gets you a few steps closer to dropping a Molten Giant. If not 2, maybe just drop the Shadowflame and add in at least one for sure and keep the 2nd Owl, depends on if you feel like the second owl gets played frequently in your matchups.
I play grimwarrior and am 12/13 pretty easily with little time to play. Your decks are fine and you could play to legendary with them.
Personally i would recommend watching some streams of good players and analyze the plays they make. Some times they make really random ones that are great that you would never think about considering. Try to think about what you would do and why they did something else, and then how would of your plan of played out if your opponent did the same thing they did. It is really eye opening when you start doing that.
When you win or lose a game think about what happened and how you could of played better. Sometimes it wont matter what you did you will just lose, but 95% of the time you lose because of your mistakes.
Think your plays out at least 1 turn ahead, try for 2, more than that gets hard at times and is pretty complex to do and understand properly.
before you make a play, think about the worst thing that could happen if you made that play and how that effects you, chose what the best option is at that point. Playing 3 minions on turn 7 against a mage and having an empty hand probably means your getting flamestriked and lose on the spot (not all the time depending on the deck they are playing)
think about what your opponent might have and what they might play each turn, then once they play something think about what that means for you and your future turns. you can use bate cards (bad for your opponent to deal with, but you have something better to play if they can deal with the bate card)
Understand tempo- who has control of it and what are you trying to do
these are some basic things and can get very complex at times, but you really should know and try to do these things.
If you always jump on the salt train after you lose and blame everything else but your game play you will never get better. Good luck man
Oh, see if you can get ahold of TideofTime, he does coaching for like 100 bucks an hour, its totally worth it. I have watched him coach and i think he does a great job at it if he can fit you in.

Alright, due to everyones suggestions I have decided to make a few new decks. Details and the deck lists will be forth coming for review.
I decided to make my warrior deck two distinct decks, one aggro grim combo warrior and one standard grim patron warrior.
I also decided to make my handlock deck over from scratch. I added a few cards to my handlock, but I also made a new deck that is more traditional.
