Is there a card similar to sludge belcher (in terms of meta) in BRM? As in, it's gonna be an extremely useful card that won't die out in popularity for a long time? What do you think will be the big in-all-decks card of BRM?
I would say Thaurissan and Chromaggus, but they are legendaries. Don't know if there is a card like Sludge Belcher in BRM (and no, Hungry Dragon isn't it)
I don't think BRM has a Sludge Belcher. Or a Loatheb for that matter.
While naxxramas introduced a bunch of neutral cards that fit in the majority of decks, BRM introduced a bunch of cards that decks had to be built around, or that synergized with cards that decks had to be built upon. Instead of cards like Sludge Belcher, Zombie Chow, Loatheb, Creeper, KT, Dark Cultist, Death's Bite and UT that fit in almost every deck of their class or every deck period, we get cards such as Grim Patron, Flamewaker, Gang Up, and Imp Gang Boss that fit specific decks but are no less powerful.
Therefore I don't think there is a generic put these in every midrange deck card like sludge belcher was a put these in every control deck.
Maybe no Sludge belcher, but, cards like Grim Patron, Gang Up, and well, maybe others give brand new archetypes. Or at least breath life into old ones.
I think that was the idea for BRM, more diversity in deck archtypes.
only thaurisan will be a staple in a lot of decks i think. volcanic drake seems nice on paper but i believe it sucks, we'll see. patron is great but only in warrior so we can't give it sludge status.
I do not see hungry dragon being very good. I havent had good experience. Giving a free minion to an enemy is quite irritating and loses tempo, This may work in a paladin deck, but in priest dragonkin sorc is much better. Volcanic drake I do not see being useful, unless only 1 is run per deck.. too situational being a 6 mana and only 6/4. If it were a 6/6 id say otherwise.
Drake and the other dragons work well in a dragon deck, but Sludge worked well OUTSIDE of deathrattle decks. you could put him almost anywhere. Note, is Drake in ALL of your decks, or your carefully made dragon deck?
I don't think there is a Sludge of BRM. Emperor is more Loatheb. All of the other cards that are viable are either class cards or cards that fit into very specific decks. Hungry gets the closest but...meeeehhh.
When comparing Sludge Belcher to BRM... we don't want to compare it to a Legendary where Loatheb and Thaurissan are the similar archetype. Legendary (one of), impactful as they enter the board and a mana cost that makes them affordable for both the Control, Combo and Midrange deck archetype.
Sludge Belcher is more of a add-in by default card that we might consider for the 5-mana drop for a long time. On the long run, the ''Sludgie'' of BRM would be Hungry Dragon. I had some reserve about this kind of card, but I've been a bit proven wrong those last days. Some decks can actually exploit the drawback in a fashionable way. I do believe that 4-mana spot which belonged to the good ol' yeti, is now contested by some solid neutral minions. Piloted ShredderDefender of Argus are two neutral that are often seen in many decks. Like Hungry Dragon will be. I'm not sure about this prediction, but so far, that's what I'm seeing. As Piloted Shredder involved some RNG, so does Hungry Dragon. That's why I believe the competiton between this two ''value'' minions is insane. Both are good. One with a strong capacity to stick on the board and to trade. The other one to trade efficiently with more valuable minions while living at the same (Sylvannas, Thaurissan, Lautheb, Belcher are all popular drops in the 5/6 mana slot where Hungry Dragon can trade positively for the player having the Dragon on the board first, thanks to it's lower mana-cost then those popular drops.
To sums it up... Hungry Dragon = Belcher = Piloted Shredder
Thaurissan = Loatheb = Dr. Boom
In terms of card comparison with the expansion set as the point of view.

And I think that is healthy for the game.
Thaurissan is definitely Loatheb of the BRM, but I don't which card is a Belcher of this adventure.

Volcanic Drake might be it. I think the draw of it is more the class cards tho.

My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.
Staple cards.
Emp Thaurissan, dragonkin sorc, grim patron, blackwing corruptor (if a dragon deck).

unless they want to be the best they can be.
