I think face hunter gets played a lot because it doesn't need a lot of expensive cards and it generates a lot of gold quickly. Usually when I do my quests, I play whatever will get me the wins fastest. I think the playstyle is fine, but it would be nice if we could have more decks/classes that could do the same thing at the same dust cost.

Yep this is it for me exactly. I just came back to HS after having taken a break since beta ended, and I've got a lack of good cards. So I want to build my gold up quickly, and face hunter lets me do that. It's a cheap deck that I can make that wins quickly. I plan to leave it behind eventually though as it's not my cup of tea in terms of fun.
Most people play card games to test their creative skills in deckbuilding or analytical skills in making complex decisions.
I was always under the impression people played cards games just like every other sort of genre, to have fun. Guess I was mistaken.
Anyway,
It's so abundant since most 'viable decks' cost 5k+ (note, I said most). So it's hard for F2P and new players to truly compete without going down the FaceHunter route. At higher ranks 5+ just going face can often lose you games from what I've seen and done, you actually need to engage play for auto-pilot. Even if it had a much lower win rate the fact games are so fast would still secure their position and popularity in the game. The deck in essence just highlights a weakness in the game and how players are designing and running decks, much like Zoolock did when it first came out. People have already started to adapt and tweak decks to help secure some form of early in order to stall out for their stronger mid/late game. It's good since it induces progress as a whole within the community.
I'm glad that aggro decks are viable and I'm only worried about the power creep in the expansions/adventures.

The first mistake the op is making is asking Blizzard why they can't balance this game. Blizz can't balance ANY game, period.
From someone who climbs using either Face or Midrange Hunter, Hunters are a bit overpowered (and also why I'm climbing with Hunter). Face Hunter is a good deck to play in the current meta precisely because Zoo is coming back:
Face Hunter is good against Zoo
Zoo is good against Druids and Warriors
Druids and Warriors are good against Face Hunter
More Zoo players means fewer Druids and Warriors on ladder
SMOrc can do SMOrc things to the many Zoo players and farm ladder points
Bizarrely, Blizzard nerfed Soulfire to nerf Zoo – to allow players to "have more interaction with the Warlock class". They just gave Hunter a Darkbomb with an additional perk, which is good in aggro decks. They didn't nerf Hunter this patch, they buffed it, a buff which encourages taking it to the face and ignoring your opponent's board.
In terms of health of the game, it's certainly unhealthy in terms of interaction with the opponent's minions, but what it does do is that it keeps ultra-greedy decks that your normal, say, Control Warrior (e.g. matchups vs Shaman with Ancestral Spirit, Kel'Thuzad, Sneed's, Sylvanas, Rag and Boom; Paladins with Ysera, Alex, Rag, Boom, KT, Sneed's and even Foe Reaper) can't win in check. Otherwise it's just a case of who has the greedier deck. Although, if decks like Face Hunter get nerfed we could see OTK combo decks coming into the meta to combat greediness – aggro beats combo, combo beats control, control (unless ultra greedy) beats aggro.
No I think the deck is fine. i do dislike the "RNG" match making system though. for instance...I will be playing mid range pally and get nothing but face hunters. so I'll switch to control warrior...and what's the first deck I see? DrooD. Sigh.
This topic is constructive opposed to others. So don't rely on it getting deleted in order to defend an imbalanced class. This time you'll actually need evidence instead of just a report button.
I'll be honest, I hate Hunters at the moment. It seems they are at their worst style ever. They make me salty when I loseat TURN 4. So I do have biases towards the deck.
Yes, incredibly constructive. It's obvious that this thread was made with lots of thought, and isn't just some salty guy whining on the forums. This thread is the epitome of constructive-ness, shining above all others in its unbiased views. /s
I just love how any for of criticism is getting defamed as "salt".
He literally says he's salty. No joke, it's right in that quote I linked. This isn't me defaming him, it's RIGHT THERE.
Hunter is great for the health of the meta. It keeps zoo and combo decks out, and is probably the easiest deck to tech against. If you want more anti-aggro options, you're delusional. Just search Taunt and throw a few in. Maybe an Antique Healbot if you want. In terms of game health, it's probably THE deck that will keep Hearthstone from slowly dying over a few years. It's cheap, and powerful. Without it, Hearthstone would be too punishing for new players, and people would quit after a week of playing.
This thread, on the other hand, is bad for the health of Hearthpwn. It's a pointless, nonconstructive thread with an OP who admits to just making it out of aggravation, and mods who refuse to take it down. Hunter isn't even that good of a deck, and it stopped being popular a couple weeks ago. But this thread has 8 pages of people who won't admit that they're salty and go to the preexisting thread for venting.
1. This is definitely a complain thread. It is hilarious how many people try to veil their non constructive hate as legitimate criticism. If you are going to criticize give reasons, analysis, not negative emotions. To all those complaining about face hunter....tough, and get good. Sorry if your deck does poorly against it. You don't see face hunters complaining about control warrior do you?
2. I'm a druid player, but I can't stand whiners. Such fragile egos, I lost cause hunter is cheap instead of I lost cause I got outplayed. Name calling (huntard, hunter is brainless, can be played by chimps). It's just pathetic.
3. Nerf this, nerf that. You could nerf everything and the people asking for them would still suck and lose. So save your breath and learn to play.
If BGH didn't exist alot of the 7+ minions couldn't exist from a balance perspective.
And if BGH didn't exist this board would be full of salt complaining about how this 7+ minion or that 7+ minion was a "I win" button.
and if there was no one damage source, I could run Magma Rager causing much QQ. and if there was no way to deal face damage directly I would run Majordomo Executus and everyone would rage, but the point of this thread is to question the problems that the game HAS, not what it might have under the circumstances of "what if"s.
Face hunter is useful in that it forces certain cards back into people's decks. The problem is that it take several of these cards to counter it, and many of them are actually bad if you aren't going up against a face hunter.
I don't really think "it punishes control" is an accurate description. Lots of aggro decks punish control - but they don't punish everything that isn't anti-them.
But I'll be honest, the main reason why I dislike face hunter is because any counter to face hunter will also be good against other aggro decks, while counters that work for other aggro decks won't always work on face hunter.
Also, now is a particularly bad time to try using anti-face hunter tools since most of them get actively punished by Grim Patron.
A few weeks from now, you'll all be bitching about how all these slow dragon decks are ruining the game, and a giant control meta isn't healthy for it. You people are never happy.
I fucking hate this game when I try to play on ladder and literally play against facehunter game after game after game over and over again. Losing to the exact same deck and trying to play counters (priest decks, fatigue mage etc.) It just makes this game so boring. There is no strategy involved anymore. You're just behind right from the fucking beginning of the game all the way to the end, UNLESS you draw AMAZINGLY and he draws terribly. Otherwise you just lose. Its one thing to lose, but its another thing to lose and just know that you had absolutely no chance of winning simply because he is just overpowered and thats it. Thats when the game doesnt become fun anymore. Losing and knowing there was no point of even playing at all. I love playing hearthstone and losing in a good game. I hate playing hearthstone when I see a face hunter. Everything about them is cancer and if you play facehunter and bm, troll, talk shit. Please do us all a favor and say "Farewell, Traveler" and go fucking kill yourself.
I think you forgot to add "Kappa" to the end of your post, man. If you genuinely do think Priest and Fatigue Mage are hard counters to Face Hunter, you're wrong. Druid and Warrior are the hard counters.

So quit the game. Cause people like yourself are the cancer, spreading negativity and complaining about everything. *sob, sob* BGH makes everything unplayable! *sob sob* grim patron is too crazy! *sob sob* Emperor allows double force of nature combos, and it happens every time! Lol, if people like yourself were in charge the game would suck cause every card would be weak as hell. People like that will always find a class, deck type, or card to complain about.

You know nothing, brettpagan. In other words... you clearly overstimate the power of the Face Hunter. The main struggle about this style of deck is the vast majority of players who can't stand the fact that they hate losing fast...
Let me tell you something... Face Hunter is all about this. Winning and losing fast.

Basically, the game would be like the BRM mage class challenge, except instead of having 30 Unstable Portals, we'd all have 30 Wisps. Perfectly balanced!
Face hunter is annoying as hell, and I take great pleasure every time I beat one of these scumdogs (which requires a somewhat lucky opening hand). I mean honestly, it's by far the most no brain deck I've ever seen and I've played HS since the beta. If bots were allowed and people were writing scripts to compare for different decks, the script for a face hunter would be the shortest amount of code by far, because it involves very few decisions, and almost no interaction with the opponent's board. I don't see it as good for the game and I think that adding the card Quick Shot was a big mistake, just giving them another top-deck win condition. It is very consistent and you NEED a good opening hand to counter the continuous damage output or else you're dead sometimes before you can even cast an Antique Healbot.
