I played ~35 matches with Grim Patron on the ladder, won 25. The problematic matchups are Shaman and handlock, also priest is kind of annoying but winnable. I don't think I ever won against shaman though.
My Control Warrior has had an easy time with them so far. I see Warrior and I think here comes the mirror, nope Patron again. You have to keep the board clear. You can usually see it coming,. It looks a lot different than Control pretty much right away. Once you see it, as mage, just hold a Flamstrike, it's fun to AOE all their work away.
The deck usually needs a turn to set up. You can see the combo coming pre turn 8 if the warrior doesn't use up his Death's bite axe. This is where you pray to the lords below that the 1 flamestrike you put in your deck pops up. Once you see the combo coming youll be able to counter it a lot easier. The guy above me has it right with the deck dieing out once people wise up.
As someone who has been playing some Grim Warrior decks since it came out (though i don't run Warsong), here are the things that WRECK me when they're on the board.
Even a single silence can be enough. Stock one in your deck since it's good even against non-warriors.
When facing Warriors, hold on to your 3-damage cards if you suspect Grim Patron. I've had several games where a good Frostbolt or Lightning Bolt has stopped me.
Don't play anything with 1-2 attack if you suspect Grim Patron will come around soon. Otherwise you're in for a world of hurt. I've had 2 games where a Paladin mindlessly called up a 1/1 dude, only to let me kill it and get another Patron.
Even though you never see it on ladder, Chillwind Yeti is a solid counter. Trades 2-to-1 with very little difficulty.

Building Quirky Decks Every Week, Loving Life at Rank 15!
I honestly see this deck as just a slightly more effective reboot of the old Warsong - Raging Worgen deck. The deck sort of beats itself. Warrior has the tools to maintain control for 8 turns, but it doesn't have the draw volume required to achieve consistency. That will always, always be the problem with this deck unless and until Warrior gets some sort of unconditional draw power. Adding more and better Worgens does not help.
The resulting perception is that the deck is better than it is. When you lose to Patron, it looks god'like. But when you play against a Warrior that looks like standard Control, and they're sitting around with 2-3 dead cards in hand as they lose, you don't notice it. People will post some inane losing % against it, with extremely low representation, becuase that's what they see from their seat. You will notice the inconsistency if you are the one playing it.
If you really must tweak against it:
Harrison Jones - Good in the meta some of the time, and a very well tailored response to snipe the deathrattle they need off Death's Bite.
Lightning Storm, Blade Flurry, etc - Mass removal makes the deck look silly. I have honestly not lost a single game to Patron Warrior as Oil Rogue. And that is saying something, considering that Control Warrior is one of Oil Rogue's worst matchups.
Not leaving any 2 or less attack minion on the board, have AoE, have belchers, and hope you have everything you need by turn 7-8. I really don't think this deck is that healthy for the game overall and it is one of the few decisions I have to disagree with Blizzard and the dev team on fully. It isn't interactive and it doesn't improve anything about the game. I even had a GP deck designed the instant the card was revealed and play it, so it isn't salt, just honesty.
This is just the kind of card that wins you a game if no answer, but loses it if there is. Nothing bad about it. Awesome if winning, but frustrating if loseing. As someone said it is devastating when a Flamestrike or Hellfire just vaporises your 4 Patrons that you used three cards in a turn to combo. Then again it is very satysfying when you have 7 Patrons flooding the board. I have a deck I use and it is cool. The fact is that I was never able to have more than 4 Patrons unless the opponent made a mistake (throwing in an Annoy-aTron to stop my advance is a bad idea). Just be ready to throw only creatures with 3 or more attack after turn 6 and you are ok.
Hey everyone, get in here! Anyways, the combo here isn't nearly as non-interactive or devastating as druid combo, especially now that thaurissan is pumping it out harder.
Title explains it. every match is patron warr. :(
Pref to play mage. but if its a rough matchup then any class works.
Link deck please :)

Easy, never let the game get to turn 8! (for the Grim+Warsong combo)
Shaman. The End.

Fatigue Mage wrecks them if you recognize the deck before they start their combo wombo
Any deck with a 3+ damage mass removal plus some spot removal for berserkers should be safe.
I think this deck will either have to evolve or it will die out once people stop getting surprised by it

If you prefer mage, just tech in Flamestrike and enjoy the easy wins.

countering grim patron is easy with oil rogue, midrange shaman, handlock/demonlock, standard control priest...
as rogue main, i'm liking the grim patron warrior meta, because control warrior is very demoralizing for oil rogue...
Beating them to turn 8 is what I try and do. If turn 8 is coming up, dropping a taunt with 3+ attack is a good idea.
Control Warrior, Midrange Shaman and Handlock/Demonlock.
Beat them all the time with Demonlock. Hellfire their hopes away.
I AM THE ESSENCE OF MAGIC Print/T-Shirt
Think the only time I've lost to it has been when a priest stole my grim patron and proceeded to wreck me with pyromancer.
What kind of shaman??
This is the deck I was using when I got legend during the season TGT came out. I was rank 4 when I started with it and was 31-11 when I got legend.
