I love that the Hearthpwn community is so tight-knit. It reminds me of the early days in WoW where everyone on the server practically knew everyone else. In the past I have posted on forums of the games I played but very rarely did a game have a following that allowed it to stay so tight-knit. I am hoping down the line these forums don't become like the league of legends forums or mmo-champion forums, (Sorry curse guys, it isn't your fault) where you as and individual have almost no forum presence.
The only way to really have a voice in those forums is to:
A. Post something ridiculous.
B. Post so often you are literally on the forums more than the game.
The Hearthpwn forums and even the Hearthstone forums feel like a community, I often see posts from some of the people on this forum on the hearthstone forums. This is what I hope the forums stay like.
But seriously, having a good community is an often overlooked thing. Having cool people to talk to and share experiences with can make a bad game good (though I don't think Hearthstone will have this problem.)
I've played a lot of crappy MMOs, or played ones well after being burned out, just because I liked hanging around with some of the people I played with. Its unfortunate that there isn't better in-game communication for Hearthstone, but heres hoping that places like Hearthpwn, /r/hearthstone, etc, can fill that gap.
I certainly understand where you are coming from. I must agree that the Hearthstone community at this point, is incredible. For the most part, we are all about helping each other, collaborating on projects, as well as sharing original quality content and ideas simply for the love of the game.
That being said, we ultimately have limited control over the community. The Hearthstone/Hearthpwn community will be what the players want it to be, it will depend on how "the people" in general act. Granted we can moderate things to a certain extent, a good thriving community is always moulded by the leadership of it's members.
I think it would be safe to say that the community will inevitably grow, and this is generally a good thing to look forward to, with lots of information flow.

Well we aren't 100% sure there won't be an in game lobby of some sort, but yeah probably not we will have to rely on Hearthpwn!

I certainly hope it grows, but I hope it also still maintains it's community feel.
I really hope we can play with all the friends we made on the forums. Most people I know aren't from europe so I'm worried the actual game might move us further apart.
Have to agree, the community is awesome. I'm usually not one that bothers writing and just stalks around forums. Heck, even when not writing I still read more about games than playing them. But as for Hearthstone I really felt that I wanted to be a part of the community so I joined up.
I'm really concerned about the region split as it might remove the opportunity to play with people from other regions. It seems that I'm not alone in the feeling that most of the community are from EU so it would really divide the community. Might have to make another account and put that second monitor in good use.
I am new here.. the reason i started participating is the community of course. The community will increase after all the game aint even in the beta phase in europe so we dont have many participants. The game will be a huge hit and bring lots and lots of people here!
Lets hope it will be for the best, and also hello to all of you!
I've had some great discussions with people here, mainly in the Arena section, where although some of us strongly disagree with each other, the tone remains courteous, and the feedback constructive.
Long live the Hearthpwn community! May it last a hundred years! (ok, I may be getting carried away a little)

I'm was worried about the same thing, but Zeriyah's recent post made me hope. I could've sworn one of the early FAQ-s it was adressed, that the servers will be region locked, but now: "We can't talk about this quite yet, but it will be addressed." - if they didn't intend it to be globbal she could've just outhright said so. I think they're trying to come up with the solution to use the battle.net yet be global.
I've never ever been interested in CCGs/TCGs but something about Hearthstone has just captured me, and I think that it seems like such an indie game, even though it's being made by Blizzard that the community surrounding it would naturally be a bit more enthusiastic about getting involved.
I definitely want to friend request you all in game to have those friendly duels for fun and to make ourselves better as players.
I really like the idea of setting up weekly/bi-weekly tournaments for Hearthpwn and HearthstonePlayers (xdega's website) that is a double elimination set up. I would volunteer with any help necessary to start this or keep a current tournament rolling.
For some reason I can't stand official forums (Endless rants?). Now if there ever would be something interesting that ain't an employee post it will pop up on other forums as well so I won't miss it.

True, i'd love to participate in different kinds of tournaments besides Arena.
The Battle.net friend thing can be useful to do that. But we would need an expectator feature for that? (i mean without Cockatrice, sorry i can't stand that),
Well, the important thing to remember is that there's nice people out there even IF the community gets more fragmented due to different reasons, different sites and simply sheer influx of random people coming in when beta/live happens.
Even on big forums you can still find sub communities. I wouldn't be surprised if (like WoW) the sub communities eventually settle down in class specific groups. Those usually have big attraction and retention of people, and recognition of leading voices, where as general discussion are more prone to getting lots of random people drowning out any regulars.
I'm glad HS community has been this good so far, but I wouldn't want to bet on how the community will evolve. The important part to remember is that as long as you are part of that community, you can help shape it. :)

True, the community in this site is very friendly, a lot of nice people. I don't speak english very well but will try to add you all and play.
As the official forum, don't like so much, too many Mod-Wannabes there.
I'm a Mod-Wannabe ... oh wait!
