Reaching legend ain't easy. It might look like it is due to almost every forum member says they did, but hey its the internet.
Find or create a solid deck, stick to it, sacrifice time and commit. Of course, you need to have the experience and analytical skills to prevent miss plays.
+1 to this. Also I've noticed lots of people posting decks that they used to get to legend, stating: {legend shockadin s12}, and in fact they mean:
'Played Hunter up to rank 1 until my eyes bled with facehitting, then switched for 3 games to random aggro and was lucky enough to win'
Just like you said, it's the internets. Take it with a pinch of salt.
I haven't made legend yet, I normally end around rank 5 (some seasons rank 7 other rank 3).
I've made this rule for myself, after 3 loses, no matter if they come in a row or 4 games apart, I need to do something to get away for the computer for a couple of minutes, Take out the thrash, do some push ups, Make coffee (and wait for it to be done), watering the plants, etc. Just to avoid tilt, or nerd rage. And it have really helped on my focus.
Also when you play Hearthstone, play hearthstone do not watch TV or go on youtube on your opponents turn etc.
NO, you don't have worse RNG than your opponents, look at a salty person like Reynad, he is constantly whining about things when they don't go his way, but he never mentions when its him that gets the Arcanite Reaper from blingthron. It will only make you salty and loose focus.
And as several others have mentioned, play a few decks, and learn them really well, what to mulligan, when to "turn the switch on" and go face.
My advices are very similar to all the other good advices beeing given in this thread.
First: You need to know your deck inside/out. This is very important! I like to estimate/calculate the odds of me drawing what I want in for instance the next two turns and such. This also explains why people suggest building your own deck. Then you will know all the cards and know what to expect.
Secondly: Focus! I cannot express how important this is. Turn of the TV, play in fullscreen mode, remove all distractions. Once that is done you need to focus on the game. Look at their mulligan, look what cards they are holding over, try to guess what it might be. Assume the worst, think more than one round ahead, learn your opponents deck and so on. Also remember not to start raging when you go on a loosing streak. (it is very hard sometimes, but you will not play better when you are raging mad. I know this for a fact.)
Third: Once you are prepared and focused. You need time to play enough matches to reach legend. It does require a lot of time and dedication.
I don't know it other people can do it, I just can't focus when I'm watching TV at the same time. Some people say they can't listen to music while playing, I can't play without. Buts thats because the ingame music is so annoying I've muted it, and it will be to quiet if I don't have anything to listen to.
I really don't know how people get stuck rank 10 and under. I have played for 3 months don't even have all the legendarys required to play my decks (I substitute) and I've managed to end this season at rank 8. If I play later today, I will likely go up because I'm at 4 stars.
Nuba obviously you won´t admit because arrogants never see it themselves, but 100% of your posts are filled with arrogance and self-indulgence. Change that attitude, it only makes you look like a fool. Arrogance is actually disgusting. People don´t admire you.
If you think hitting legend is easy, look at how many top level players are still between rank 1-5 the last week of the season. Sure, there are people that do speed runs to legend, but the majority of people that hit legend do it in the last week, and not for lack of laddering.

I have a friend whom is a mathematician in training.
He told me, that with a winrate of 55% or above you would reach legend if you play enough games.
So when you see people hitting legend "fast" they are most likely just playing a lot. Some of the top players would play more in two days than most would the entire month..
"easy" is just a word to describe "a large time investment"
Not sure you need to be a mathematician to solve that complex puzzle.
I feel like legend players are akin to wows vanilla tier 2 raiders(Sorry not tier 3, you wish)
They're just the top tier of this gaming community . Dedicated skilled players who play waaaaay too much.. But do it well...
Despite all the bs from people who have never hit legend/barely hit it one time and say it take forever, i decided to reply to that post.
to put things in perspective, I am a normal player, not a pro or anything, hs is just my only video game. I have a full time job, another real life hobby (padi diving instructor). I watch streams at work because, why not in an office. But I don't play too much by any means.
I have hit legend 9 times since beta, i did it this march 2015 during the first week. It is about time only if you don't actually have the skill level, and I rly wanted to point that out, I don't play too much, at all. Once you know how to play the 2-3 crucial decks that complete each other that u need, and don't do missplays over missplays, nyou will win, and get over 60% winrate is NOT HARD AT ALL. All you have to do is practice... if people do it in 2 days, it is not only because they spend a fucking stupid amount of time playing, it is because they actually WIN a lot more than they lose.
please check xixo's winrate. It is not a stupid 55%, by far. 55% is rly sad...
Time and reading/adjusting to the meta at each major hop in rank. Yes, you do need to play precisely and make the correct plays when presented with multiple options but those are learned pretty quickly along the way and if you watch a lot of streams you will figure them out. The biggest issue I tend to see with people hitting a brick wall is that they are using old data and approaches from a season or two ago that may have worked then and trying to use them now unsuccessfully. It is all a function of time though, as long as you can get to around a 60% win rate you just need a lot of time and patience. Don't forget luck. When you watch streamers at legend playing, most games are fairly straight-forward and only occasionally are there any surprises. Mitigate RNG, have some luck, spend a lot of time.
Z's Legend Grind Advice (Haven't posted this in a while) - Pick a deck that has been proven can make it to Legend and stick with it. - Track your wins/losses against popular decks (ex. split Zoo & Handlock, Mechmage & Freeze Mage) this will allow you to not get discouraged and worry if you have a tough time against a particular deck you will know it. - Watch a popular streamer that uses your deck and mirrors your play style. - If you feel you need to change your deck to match a new rank meta only change two cards at most at a time. To many changes can drastically alter your effectiveness and win percentages. - Realize that RNG giveth and taketh away. - Work on what cards your opponent could have to derail your plan. Try to think your moves out at least one extra turn ahead of where you are at. - Have fun! Enjoy the journey. This is a game and getting mad or frustrated doesn't do anything for anybody. - Watch your win percentage and realize how many more games it will take to reach legend. Prepare for the grind and it won't grind you up!
Hopefully this helps some people. See you all in the tavern.

Design your own decks and players has hard time to play against you since they are too used to "assuming" what the enemy plays on higher ranks.
You can get easily to rank 5 by just playing your cards and not holding them, since enemy might hold their card backs by playing "well."
Ironically it works against them.

Some people have RNGeesus but I'm still living in the dark :(
I wish I could wear my bans as medals.. I live on the edge. 2 strikes baby. 1 away from gone for good.

And all your Control games ended in less than 6 minutes. I believe you. You should edit your post one more time :)
