So, for the past few seasons, aggro has been very prevalent, and we haven't seen very much control.
Of course, control cannot always (or perhaps often) slow down the game. This leads to control losing a huge amount of health early game, and just before they get going, they die to whatever finisher aggro has in store for them.
More recently decks have been moving away from pure aggro, but have stayed in the area of aggressive, simply because control is not often played. I personally am not aware if anyone even plays warrior anymore, one of the classes better known for it's control decks.
So what's the problem? Well, if you look at some of the bigger card's release discussion threads the phrase you see most often is "it is killed by Big Game Hunter". This phrase is often a condemnation of uselessness. So perhaps the reason control is not considerably more prominent is not solely it's lack of early game suitability, but also that it's partial win condition of big minions is suppressed by the Big Game Hunter.
If this is so, how does one play around this?
Perhaps I am crazy. I am not sure I entirely understand what I am talking about, but I would like to know what the rest of the community has to say.
In summary, I wonder if control would possibly be better if it could play around BGH better, giving it an opportunity to play minions that could dominate the board and still be effective when finishing off the opponent, because while six attack is very high, seven attack is just on another level, one brought down by the man with the beast in his sights.
It's not about control. Dr. Boom and sometimes Ragnaros nowadays appears even in aggro decks. So BGH always has work to do. And after exp it's not gonna change.
PS. I am playing oldschool wallet CW and enjoying it with acceptable winrate around 8-10 rank.

Ah, good to see CW is in better shape than I thought. Anyway, you seem to misinterpret my question, I will make an edit.

I'm not simply looking for big cards, because big cards are cool, and good, someone will always play them. I am looking for a specific deck archetype that, according to what I have seen and heard, has fallen out of popularity in hearthstone
Control Paladin with ysera tirion and troggzor doesnt even have bgh targets.
Also the entire: OMG I CANT PLAY WARGOLEM BECAUSE OF BGH - argument is starting to get annoying.
ANY big minion dies to removal = Hex. So if people complain about bgh, then next we remove ALL removal from all decks. Then we will be happy and can all play big minions... right? RIGHT?
See! Valid points! I obviously don't know what I speak of. I suppose you saw through me a little (I really think Nefarian and Onyxia are super cool, but are just a little too bad), but this was a genuine concern of mine.
EDIT: wait, no, I'm getting off track, id there any way to safely have a minion with 7+attack in a deck? do you need 3? that sounds bad...

There are lots of late game cards that don't die to BGH. Ysera, Tirion, Sneeds, etc. The reason why control is getting less and less prominent is because minions are simply just faster and more efficient. Naxx and GvG added a bunch of really powerful minions while adding maybe like only one or two good control cards. AoE is now slow and inefficient, removal/answers are clunky and a lot of the times unreliable, and on top of that, you have to draw the answers at the right times or else you lose. There's also the influx of Deathrattle, meaning once you kill something, you just have another something to kill. BGH doesn't really affect control's viability. It's just a really good tool against some of the late game minions that control decks tend to play.
Tell me about it. Consecration is useless nowadays: Everything has 3 hp. In the early days of zoo you could at least board wipe at t4. Now the only thing that happens are some deathrattle triggers.
They tried to add cards like Scarlet Purifier but... did they even test with that minion? It doesnt kill anything! Besides eggs, which you dont want.
You wot mate? For hunter alone it's more then worth it. Also Purifier works. I tested it in StrifeCros Paladin, got legend with it. Sometimes it kills stuff, but it is a 4/3 body which is interesting on itself. It kills all the 2/1 DR minions of mech mage and hunter and kills everything else in those decks with the body.
