Sylvanas is probably one of the trickiest legendaries in the game. I tend not to yolo her, although it isn't bad as a 5/5 at all. It also depends which deck you are playing, against which class you are playing, do they have minions on the board, also try to remember has your opponent spent their removal/silence.
If I play against it, I might sacrifice my whole board if it consists of 2 creatures for example. If I have 5 of them, I tend to sacrifice the strongest one that doesn't have any particular board effect so my opponent doesn't get that one. If I have silence, I'd rather not use it if I don't have to. It also works great as a silence bait.
If I play her, I like to drop her against a Rag. Also, sometimes I ignore her and go for the face or other options. I think that it really, really depends on lots of things how you should play her or play against or around her. Mainly the type of deck, board state and your hand. Also, she might be a little bit slowish nowadays, but it's still one of the best legendaries imo.
There's two ways of playing Sylvannas: proactively and reactively.
The latter is easy; your opponent plays a nice bomb, and you respond with Sylvannas. This is a bit slow in most cases, but not a terrible play by any means since it forces you opponent into a tough spot. This is especially effective against certain cards like Sneed's or Rag.
The former, however is more interesting. Sylvanas is a 5/5, which means she is able to trump most minions that cost less than her. This makes her a solid threat on her own if you have nothing better to play. Another interesting thing is, if you know your opponent might play something big that might loose you the game (like Tirion), you can play Sylvanas prior. This discourages the opponent from playing anything big until they can deal with her.
And of course, Sylvanas can e played for her effect in combination with other cards like Shadow Word: Death or as a set up with Brawl.
You can also do stuff like cast a damage spell on your own sylvanas, or use something like Fire Elemental's battlecry to kill her yourself if you can steal a big minion. Only do this if the combined value of the spell and what is left of your Sylvanas is less than your mind control target.
I was actually wondering about this myself and thought about starting a similar thread. I always feel like I make at least one major Sylvanas blunder a week (usually entered around a double Sylvanas board position).
Enemy plays a Rag, and on your turn you play Sylvannis + PowerOverwhelming, at the end of the turn, Sylvannis dies, steals the Rag, but he doesn't shoot. Rag then gets BGH'd next turn, but at least it wasn't yours.

Hi,
i don't have a good idea about when to play my own sylvana.
how does the board or game state inflicts the play?
i guess if my opponent has a full board it's mostly a good idea.
but what about if my opponents board is empty, he has 3 cards in hand and is on 15 live? just yolo for the 5/5 body?
another thing i have no rule of thumb is how i should react on an opponents played sylvana...
when to attack sylvanas, when to ignore, when to flood the board with creatures...
how do you use or fight sylvanas?

A Sylvannas dropped on an empty board is not going to efficient.
However, if she managed to steal something, you'll get value. It's a tricky Legendary. Try to get the most value out of her.
Used to be a proud Handlock player.
Legend 17 times.
Still flirting with the ladder from times to times with Renolock.

Not if she's out on board from the previous turn
so most value cases to play sylvana is after opponent plays a single hugh thread and then wait a turn or if possible to kill her...
how much value does she provide against dr. boom or a zoo deck...
i believe if playing aggainst aggro hear steal ability isn't that usefull isn't it?
this brings me to the next point: how to fight:
unless i can silence her (even then) i should look for board and game state.
beeing aggro i ignore her in most cases.
but if i'm controll?
i think it is possible to do a matrix for her:
variables are
- archetype of my or opponents deck or lets say the actual role i or my opponent has since sometimes even a controll deck will play the aggro role...
- number of cards in hand and graveyard
- number of creatures on the board
- maybe live total?
have i missed something?
I was actually wondering about this myself and thought about starting a similar thread. I always feel like I make at least one major Sylvanas blunder a week (usually entered around a double Sylvanas board position).
FYI - I learned this the hard way
