I'd like to ask for a little advice. I am at a bit of a cross roads as to whether I should aim to complete the classic card set for myself. I went through my collection and have found that I have 9 epics and 9 legendaries still to craft.
Legends - Hogger, King Mukla, Lorewalker Cho, Captain Greenskin, Elite Tauren Chieftain, Leeroy Jenkins, The Beast, Gruul, Al'Akir The Windlord
9 epics = 3600 dust. 9 legendaries = 14,400 dust. Making a grand total of 18,000 dust.
Before GvG I had decided I prefered to craft golden cards which I could enjoy using in games rather than bother crafting cards I felt I would never use. Sadly I can even remember even having 8 of those 9 epics but DE'd them for other cards. However now they can't even be obtained in packs I'm starting to wish I had a complete set.
I am what I'd call a semi FTP player in that I bought Naxx, one 40 card pack from classic and one 40 card pack from GvG. However I will not spend a single cent more until the release of the next card set. I have gotten at least 90% of my cards though arena playing - I'm a fairly solid arena player. Nothing too special but I can run infinite no problem and hit a 10+ win every 4-5 runs. However that being said 18,000 dust would take a long time to get. I'm on just 5600 currently.
Did you decide to complete the classic collection? Are you in a similar position to me? Let me know what you think I should do. Thanks.

Yeah... no...
Cards of value you might want to craft from your list: Hogger, Leeroy, Greenskin and Al'kir.

I was really unlucky with opening classic, I do miss more important classic cards than GvG cards which is retarded. So I'm buying a classic pack once in a while but otherwise I only craft, when I need to.
Craft all the cards you will use. Don't bother with any other. Some of them may become viable in the future, but I don't consider murlocs, pirates, kidnapper and twisting nether worthy enough to give them priority over many gvg legendaries and epics.
It depends on your goal. If you want everything, craft them, but never buy classic packs anymore. If not, stick to useful ones that you need. In this case, it is good to sit on a dust stack, just in case!
Or if you are crazy like me, go for full golden playable collection, but that might take forever :d

Well I think everyone deep down has that dream haha. Having a complete golden collection in hearthstone is kinda like wanting to be a millionaire eventually. I've set my goal as 1 complete golden deck. Although since all I play is control that's easier said than done.
Thanks for the input ppl. I think I will hold off on trying to complete the classic set as it is pointless at the end of the day compared to better GvG cards I don't have yet and I can always go back and craft them one day rather than now.

This is a very personal question. The only reason to craft "bad" cards like Hungry Crabs and Kidnappers is if you are going to derive real personal satisfaction and happiness from completing your collection. That's not something anyone else can advise you on - only you can know that.
p.s. I did chuckle at spending $125 on a video game being described as "semi FTP". :-)
Collecting cards in a collectible card game is just a personal choice. Do it if you want to complete your collection, nothing we think of it matters really.
Leeroy is a lot less useful since the nerf. I wouldn't craft any of these unless they show up on a decklist you want to play. You might, conceivably see a good deck that runs Al'Akir or 2 Doomsayers, but the rest are not terribly competitive legendaries.
I'm in similar situation. Around 14k to complete the classic set. Call me crazy, but I'm actually going to craft them before crafting any gvg cards. I get my packs mostly from arena and completing the classic set first goes a long way to prevent the disappointment of pulling a legendary I just crafted from a pack.
Of course this is a personality thing. I'm a bit of a completionist and never in my life got anything easy, so it doesn't even feel like a big thing. I just play, enjoy my time and the collection fills up eventually.
Hidden bonus of not crafting the new hot legendary straight away is that it forces me to learn to play against those cards without the latest and greatest to help me. I really feel that this has made me a better player.
You're crazy!!
Don't groan. You provided the set up.
The issue is always making sure that whatever you are doing you are enjoying doing. If you enjoy focusing on getting the entire classic set before GvG then go for it. Myself I prioritize flexibility first: I get the cards that give me the most options for new decks, which is why I won't be crafting Tirion for a long, long time.
As for your goals, especially since you focus on arena, I believe your plan is a good one. Arena will give you most of the GvG cards as is, but will rarely give you a Classic card, thus your dust should focus on Classic. After that, you'll want to focus purely on GvG legendaries until the next expansion hits. That's probably the best use of your dust.

I'm pretty sure arena will NEVER give me a classic card - unless you can get them from rewards - I never pay attention to the cards I get from arena rewards really though. I'd assumed they would always be GvG cards now.

I don't see any reason to use hard earned dust for crafting cards like Hungry Crab. It would be better just to craft GvG cards or if you have everything that you need just keep the dust for the next expansion, so you won't have to buy packs with real money.
If they were physical cards I could maybe understand, well ... at least that some are a bit OTT about collecting. In a virtual card game ... meh, I have dusted many golden cards, I couldn't care less about them. I've dusted legends and epics that I knew I wasn't using any time soon. I see people say "Never dust this, or that" and I'm thinking ... why not? They just add to the amount of cards you flick past while creating decks

I never understood the urge to collect all the cards from a set, what's the point?
As long as i can play the deck that i want, i couldn't care less about cards that i don't play.
"Put your face in the light!" - Tirion Fordring
Craft Al'akir, Doomsayer and forget the rest unless you want to play pirates.
