For me its very annoying because in a competitive game like starcraft or dota it is extremely bm to say stuff like "gg" before you have won. Usually only the player/team that loses says it first. The guy who is winning to say it first is basically saying "get out scrub".
Losing team says GG = Good Game
Winning team says GG = Get out, scrub
May i know where i can get this unique MMORPG dictionary that you are using? Thank you.
Not really for mmorpgs, but if were to play any hyper competitive game with its usual toxic community you would see :P
I don't find the emotes annoying. I find them funny. Of course you can squelch them if they bother you. If you could actually type messages to your opponent during the game I could see people being angry. It's just silly to me.

for the record, well played =/= GG. Still no idea how players can assume the worst out of a simple "well played" emote when there is no in-game chat function to communicate with your opponent.
It's funny that once you guys lose, all the common etiquette that your opponent emote upon you is seen as hostiity. It's as if you guys are kids pouting after a lost match thinking "yea you won just go away, don't talk to me and leave me alone". Now THAT's BM.
I just squelch everyone at the start of the game. Just look at all these interpretations.
I can get away from sarcastic thank you's and avoid coming off as BM by just skipping it. If I could disable the red highlight over hero portraits I would.
It's not even that bad, but I've found that even when used "politely" they add nothing to my gameplay.
Um, no, sometimes you do have to think even when playing an aggro deck, like predicting whether or not a minion will survive if put on the board. If it won't, then obviously hero power is better, sending 2 dmg to the face. And I myself make dumb mistakes if I try to play my turns quickly, and I've learned to take my time especially in ranked, with good results. 3 seconds is a short time, btw, and even the most mindless turn might take longer than that.
How many people dont emote anything when they lose, but when they win, they're like "well played"?
To me it shows they dont really mean to be mannered, else they would say "well played" as well when they lose. If a well played is not a sign of good manner, it's a sign of bad manner right?
I also think that if you're a really mannered player, you should be aware that some if not most people see a 'well played' from the winning side as bad manner, because, well, most people (including me) always get a little anrgy/frustrated when they lose a game. So, to not salt up the wounds, the real manner attitude would be to only say well played when you lost or when you won and the other guy 'well played' you first.
There's also all sorts of things in a match that can make you feel the bad manner behind the other's guy plays when he didnt even emote. A hunter is taking 3 seconds to make his turn and go face every turn? Cmon, he's just sending you a message how easy and mindless face his deck is. That same hunter plays chargers every turn "arcane golems etc." and he emotes well played before double kill commanding you? How could that ever be good manner?
In some of those situations, it's not being oversensitive to perceive about any emotes as bad manner. The hunter could say "hello" or "i'm sorry" and i would still perceive it as bad manner personnally, and I dont think i'd be wrong to do so.
As other examples that comes to mind, some players that took some extreme risks, won (such as not respecting equality combos or molten giants) and say about anything could also be perceived as bad manner.
And, once again, if you really mean to be mannered, you should respect everyone's sensitivity and, as the winning side, dont emote anything unless the other guys said well played. My 2 cents.
What does BM stand for? Bowel Movement Emoting? Because that's just awkward. Although I do know a few that play Hearthstone on their iPad from the toilet.
When winning, saying "gg" is the digital equivalent as running over the opponent's pet dog with a Humvee, if you take what you see on the forums literally.
When I play just for fun/troll decks I don't care at all, and usually don't care even when playing serious business on ladder. Of course you must be a very childish and inmature person to get so angry that you go to a HS forums to whine, but without reaching such extremes, it certainly can annoy you when you're working on your way to legend and you're having a losing streak and then a random mentally disabled but lucky guy comes spamming emotes.
When I play ladder I always squelch everyone after rank 5. Emotes can be fun, but if you aim to win every game and take this children's card game too seriously, they only distract you from the game.
I don't get how "Well Played" at the end of the game has become BM, "Hello" at the end of the game is BM. Still waiting for Blizzard to address this nonsense, just create a setting to automatically mute players and refuse friend requests especially when the trolls start sending friend request after friend request where you have to now decline them repeatedly. The "communication" in the game exists for nothing more than pissing you off at this point, nothing intelligible is communicated so fuck it entirely.
So which of the following emotes can be used before delivering the lethal blow and not be seen as BM?
Well played?
Greetings?
Oops?
Sorry?
Threaten?
Thanks?
As simple as: nothing.
Have you ever saw a real life sport where winning opponent said sorry just before wining and it didn't consider bad sportsmanship? No, you haven't. Can you imagine chess game where the winner is like "Oh, Im sorry" just before he makes a wining move and not considered a d head? No, you haven't.
