Well if we'd keep the 30-card limit for ladder / arena and add another custom mod where you could change things like deck size, it could add some diversity to the game.

I used to be a control player like you, then I took a quick shot to the knee.
I would honestly like the choice of cards between 30 and 40. Personally, I always feel my deck of 30 is great, but if I could just have 1 or 2 more slots to put a card or 2 in, it would make such a huge difference. It will create a huge variation of decks in the meta, and I think the strategy of decks would be greater in numbers for competition instead of us all seeking the 2 decks for each class to rank up.
I kind-of like the 30 card deck. It is much different than many other card games, and it makes deckbuilding extremely difficult. Of course, you can netdeck and make it easy, but one reason why I love this game so much is that you can start with a deck, tech it, remove cards you do not need, and then tech again for the meta. It is so desirable to me and I really enjoy building decks, and knowing that you have to cut out on some cards, and making the proper decision as to which.
I think games like magic and Pokemon and lands and energy which Hearthstone doesn't have so thats one reason 30 is fine. Another is that increasing the number of cards above 30 for control vs control match ups would lead to absurdly long games.
Hearthstone was designed to play with a 30 card deck and having more than that would likely ruin it.
I don't see the devs changing this anytime soon in the future if ever.

They could take the MTG route. In hearthstone terms: your deck MUST consist at least 30 cards. You can have more than that, up to certain limit. Even with this change, I bet that the "best" decks would probably still have the minium amount of cards in order to make the deck more consistent.
That aside, I am fine with 30 card limit. Makes deck desiging more interesting.

No. That's the point of tech cards. Being TECHs... not some cards you add out without having to think what to cut for.

Hearthstone is designed and balanced around 30 cards, and in every other card game where that's an option people go for the bare minimum for consistency, so there's no point in it for casual or ranked. A Brawl or extra game mode would definitely be a lot of fun though.
I would love to see a constructed ladder with a higher mandatory card count parallel to the already existing 30 count. Players would self-segregate to the length they most enjoyed.
I really like the idea of a side board in which you can take out specific cards dependant on the matchup: (Example: I'm playing against a mage so i swap out my harrison jones for a kezan mystic)
Magic may have 60 cards, but 20-25 of them are usually land cards which are already incorporated into HS. So in terms of the number of actual 'real cards' there isn't that much difference.
Plus the game is balanced around 30 cards, I can't think of any good reason to change it (a few players would find it a bit more fun for half an hour isn't a good reason).
Having a 30 card minimum rather than a limit would be interesting. Yes, it would help against Mill decks but it would also dilute your own deck and make your card synergy and combos less effective.
However, I can not count the number of times I've tried to create a deck and just can't decide which of those last one or two cards I need to exclude to reach the 30 card limit. Allowing me to add those cards without going overboard with deck size would be a great relief.

I've actually thought for a while now that 30 cards was too limiting, and as more cards come out, it feels even more so. I am in favor of raising to 40 just to increase the creative space of deck design. I also think that increasing maximum non-legendary cards per deck to 3 would be suitable in such a case, but not necessary.
For me i think 30 is perfect number, i just think sometimes it makes it really hard to make deck decisions. I need to add 2 hellfire into my deck, but i have no idea what to take out :/

But it wouldn't increase the creative space of deck design. Magic has no deck size limit and yet 99% of competitive decks have the bare minimum 60 cards and most use less different cards than the average Hearthstone deck.

I'd think a Tavern Brawl with extra cards would be an interesting way to try it out but I think 30 is the right number.

It's too early to increase the card slots in the decks and I don't see them increase it anytime soon.
I was thinking about it though that with this expansion they might do it but it's more convenient to increase the deck slots than the card slots.

I definitely think they should do a brawl where the deck size is increased (or even decreased!). also a brawl with life pools higher than 30.
as for seeing something like that in actual play? yeah, I don't think that's going to happen.

Keep it at 30 + 3-5 reserve cards those being the tech ones
