I have a mostly complete Wild collection. Today, I bought 50 Wild packs in an attempt to get some dust. My "Dust extras" amount went from 2,120 to 2,170. How is this possible?
I know it's related to Legacy and Core format, but I don't understand how.
Did your Wild Packs give you a lot of Caverns of Time cards that you didn't technically have? Something like Jade Swarmer and other "reprints" technically have two versions. If you opened CoT versions and you didn't have them before, they would count as new. And they also wouldn't automatically dust using the button since that looks at the original version and the CoT version as different cards too.
Check your collection and sort by CoT set to see if that is the issue. Otherwise, no idea.
Yes! You just need to dust them manually. I usually do that with any CoT cards unless they are original to that set, or I don’t have the original set version, like Acidmaw and Dreadscale. Never had them and got both in CoT packs, so unless I open a TGT version some day they stay. Same with some old TGT and GvG epics.
The only instance where not keeping CoT versions “hurt me” so far was during a Twist season with only Common and Rare cards from certain sets. Legacy and Core were excluded, but CoT was included. Despite having Mana Wyrm, Snipe, and I think one other Hunter Secret that should have been included, I couldn’t use them because I didn’t have the right version.
Blizzard had said before that no matter the version, any legal card should be usable in an format where it’s legal. So my Legacy Mana Wyrn should have been usable despite Legacy being excluded since it was part of CoT. But I guess that feature was broken? Likely won’t ever address it unless it causes a major issue.
Another note, I don't think the "extra" search will show you something you have 2 original set copies of and 2 CoT copies of. So if you have 4 total copies of Explosive Trap, 2 Legacy and 2 CoT, the collection manager doesn't think of them as being extra.

That's exactly right, tons of Jade cards. So now I have two copies and can dust the CoT versions, correct?

as a side note, remember to use the 'extra' keyword
this will show you every card that you have more than 3 copies of but will count all the versions - normal, golden, diamond etc
the dust button only counts the stacks of cards that are 2+, normal and golden are considered separate stacks in this case
Another note, I don't think the "extra" search will show you something you have 2 original set copies of and 2 CoT copies of. So if you have 4 total copies of Explosive Trap, 2 Legacy and 2 CoT, the collection manager doesn't think of them as being extra.
