Delete if this is considered common sense but my gf and myself have been playing HS for about one month now and while I was pretty quick to craft a cheap shaman elemental deck and later mage elemental (don’t crucify me pls) my games usually end with me winning between turn 5-7 or losing after turn 10.
That results in an avg match length of maybe 7-8 mins?
I’ve reached Platin 3 in Standard so far and think I can reach diamond but now there’s the a catch:
My gf just reached legend in wild with some weird druid deck that puts out taunts early game and ramps to god know how much mana with guff (last tone I’ve checked today she had 25 mana crystals) and plays kiljaeden in the end when her deck is empty.
Her matches are sometimes 40mins.
Since I’ve never reached legend before I just want to ask:
Is this normal? Are decks like this required to reach legend?
no, u dont need to play very slow decks to reach legend, in fact i think the faster the better so that is why i play some proactive deck most of the time, this season in standard ive played elemental mage and got to legend quickly. my games were 3-3.5 min on average, some games were longer and i lost most of them but won a few of them... (i can only win late game with the fire dmg spell combo with this deck)
I have nearly always been playing priest decks. Needless to say, I like long and control archetype matches. well... that's unplayable now.
So I went to aggro shadow priest in Wild and matches are usually over by turn 4. Once I reach legend I just quit until the next month, as I don't really like those brain dead games. It's just impossible to play high level control decks currently. But that's just my opinion.
My deck would most likely kill your gf's deck in a matter of a few turns, as this deck doesn't require to do direct damage to hero's. I can just attack her minions and the deathrattle of my minions in combination with shadow spells will kill her.
There's a huge difference between Wild and Standard meta games and player quality due to how many more players play Standard and how wildly (pun intended) the card base available for each is. Playing in either is going to be a very different experience. Not to say one is worse or better, but they are different. Your GF reaching Wild legend with a slow deck is not comparable to you playing a fast deck in Standard.

I try to make a match as long as possible. Thats right I am a control player. I won't rest till your deck or hand is empty while mine is full.
