I'm 37 years old, I've been playing since the beta version of the video game. Always free to play. The game has degenerated more and more as time and expansions have passed. However it is absolutely in line with the absurd and inhuman times we are living in. With the deviant, corrupted and plagiarized mentality of the young consumers of these products who obviously represent the majority.
you people are saying you've been playing since beta, yet you still haven't learned that there was literally at least one broken deck at the release of every expansion
the meta is unrefined, the decks are unrefined, every deck is in a testing phase
at the same time I'm not saying quasar rogue isn't dumb as shit, ofc it is, just saying that complaining about it now, 2 days after expansion release, makes no sense (also the deck doesn't even have a 50% winrate) and we know that if it actually becomes too oppresive they will nerf it to the ground
I can pretty much agree with everything said. It's gotten so out of control that most of the time the game is basically over on like turn 5. And if not then something like Kil'jaeden on 7 with larger and larger Demons seals the deal within a few turns. And I try to play with my funny Yogg Mage generating and Discovering random spells or with Rogue random stuff from other classes...
To be fair I never really liked decks that were "competitive" but I would at least like to have a decent chance at it. Already the past few years with those types of decks I like to play I had to get lucky with the perfect card so often to even have a chance... with a lucky Yogg... Nowadays... the same except I need to get the perfect card every single time basically.
Yeah, the game has kinda reached a point where it all feels rather pointless. Because what I would need in order to just stand a chance I think I wouldn't even like to play. It kind of reminds me personally of Legends of Runeterra actually. At first I was rather excited but after trying out some stuff I realized that even if you "do your cool thing" it's just gonna steamroll your opponent and the game just ends. I remember how it was also rather rare to get to max. Mana. Something that nowadays is also true of HS, isn't it?
I still think HS could be such a fun game. For example focusing more on the actual act of just playing cool cards maybe? I would really like to see something that feels more like Slay the Spire. You constantly get cards to play with and you need to figure out how to make the best use of them. With more reoccurring cards and play patterns throughout the game until you can forge your way to victory. Well, maybe that will always remain a dream of mine but... yeah, that's what I would like to see. And if you compare that to what we have right now... I mean you have pretty much infinite value everywhere but basically the moment the opponent can't turn the tides immediately with some broken shit it's over for them. And that's just... so lame... Why am I even playing the game? I wonder that more and more every time I keep coming back to play a bit...
Just recently I discovered a new game that just launched into closed beta and I'm having so much more fun with that at the moment. It's called The Bazaar. An autobattler but you're also on an adventure with PvE encounters and Events, not just one Shop where you constantly just press the reroll button. Imagine HS getting some good new adventure like Dalaran Heist or Tombs of Terror at their time. Nah, doesn't make enough profit. Well... understandable, have a nice day.
I will stick around for Battlegrounds Duos because I really enjoy that. But other than that, I'm not so sure anymore. Playing with friends can still be fun but... I don't think many people play the game that way so... that may remain very difficult. Especially with no good social functions. And if anything it really feels like the game becomes less and less social year after year. I don't think this is a good thing.
Yeah, with no major changes to HS and if The Bazaar continues to be as incredible as it currently is I might eventually drop HS entirely for good. Maybe HS has just become a game that I do not enjoy anymore and that is okay. The only thing I would miss is Yogg.

Yes, meta is unrefined and already deck that is massively oppresive is getting more and more refined and people learn to play it better and better. I don't care if it will be nerfed to the ground, I care that game is UNPLAYABLE now, 3 days after expansion release and nobody knows when will it be playable again. I don't care about winrate if I lose turn 6 at best and turn 4 at worst consistently against this abomination.
Mage is overtuned so is Hunter or pally - cheap cards without downside - make the game dumb, just play whateva and win or lose after couple of turns thats what it is with some nice animations.
I'm playing the bare minimum to complete my quests. I only play Wild, and while the game has always been a wee bit broken there, now it's beyond broken. And I am so tired of 100 point Holy Wrath plays. It's stall, stall, kaboom!
I was also trying a deck with Quasar and Mauler and till I figure out I saw the Warshacks deck. It sure works though I feel the comments here after playing with it some matches. In times I draw Quasar my opponent usually had no chance to counter and in other times it was just turn 4-5 concede. I still think the card is fun but it shouldn't be like this I agree
dont know because i havent played the game, ive only watched my enemy play 80 cards on their turn and kill me within 3-4 turns while doing their own thing and never having to interact with anything other than their own combo KEKW
An expansion is fun the first day. Afterwards, the meta settles (or start settling) and deck diversity quickly dies. Having starships with Reno makes no sense.
Decks I already hate playing against:
Fire mage
Meteor shaman
You have to play on the first day of the expansion because after that the HRReplay scum just F5 until they get that deck they're looking for.
I am surprised that you have problems with the meteor decks.I have found them truly underwhelming.
To slow and if you opp has minions on board it negates the damage to your opponent>
I understand that's what Meteor shower is for but that in itself is slow....
Plus,I couldn't tell you how many times i have 15 or more asteroids in the deck and simply not pulled them.
I know it can win but it depends on too many cards drawn at the right time.
Unlike the spell mage and other decks which are able to go off a lot sooner because of the damage they do
And don"t get me started on Nebula decks....real slow, although I have won a few games by going off early.
But not consistent enough...would just like to play with the new expansion in my decks without being crushed by mage druid..or whatever the flavor of the month is.
When you say "meteor deck" are you discounting the rogue deck?
It can easily wipe your board and kill you from 30 health on turn 5/6 - each meteor is doing 4 or 5 damage due to spell power. They always draw all of them (pretty much) because the deck can draw it's whole deck very easily once Quasar has been played.
An example from a recent game of mine - Rogue is at 8 health. I am at 28 and have a 5/5, 3/4 (taunt) and 4/5 on board. Rogue starts his turn 6 and draws his entire deck, wipes the board and kills me. Much fun!
So I have a fun story to share: I'm a Big Spell Mage playing against a rogue. It's my opponent's turn 6, the rogue is sitting at 1 hp left, only ONE card in its hand, no minions and a halfway heroic power weapon, there are 5 minions on my side, I'm 27 hp left. I lost the game that turn.
The rogue manages to buy an absurd amount of 0 / 1 cost cards, boosts spell dmg 3 times and nuke me down to zero.
Just what you can expect from players fixated on winning + company fixated on profit. They make each other happy by increasing sales with pack purchases and boosting win rate with broken cards.
Some fun, some frustration as always. I tried new versions of old archetypes like Nature Shaman and ultimately climbed to legend with Wheellock. Yes, new decks are disappointing so far, but I don't think you can expect a lot from a 3rd expansion of a year, it's always going to make some old builds that were already strong even stronger, but will struggle with introducing new builds. This will be even more obvious with mini-set. What I hope for is that this expansion introduced some tools that will be more available after rotation. And we could taste what the meta after rotation might look like with recent brawl - Warrior domination - which I hope will not be the case.

I was strictly talking from the shamans point of view. All these new cards to play with and the best shaman deck to play is Rainbow shaman...so far.We shall see what happens after the half-assed nerfs they do.

the expression I would use is:

I hate it with a passion and I suspect this is the final nail in the coffin for me and this game.
It's almost ironic that they made "Startships" at the same time that you can literally die to a rogue who plays every card in their deck by turn 6.
More than ever, this game is OTK or some scam based victory. For me it isn't fun.
/end...

Dependable loan sharks since 1960. We sink our teeth into every deal we make.
watching gameplay highlights is not a good metric to judge the consistency of a mechanic
I havent found a deck yet which is enjoyable to play. So far i faced only mage, rogue and DK.
The games are over to quick to experiment with a deck. And a control board doesn't help much since you die from face dmg.
I won some games against Quasar rogues, since ppl obviously copy paste the deck and then misplay it lol.
i dont

Developers' inability to balance is one thing; players choosing to abuse it is another.
