I'm a dad of three kids so I play hearthstone at various times of the day. I'm in the US on central time, and I've noticed that skill level of my opponent's varies wildly versus the time of day. During normal play times, say 8am to 10pm, I face very skilled players. I usually go 2 wins and 8 losses. However the later at night I go and the game matches me with players from around the world, the skill changes rapidly. I've been up since 2am since two of my sons have chicken pox and I swear I've gone like 7 wins and 3 losses. Has anyone else noticed ced this trend?
I've played at various times of the day and haven't seen any difference. You are [supposedly] matched against a player of your skill, based on W/L ratio
It's a definitely a thing. I notice it particularly in arena.
When I play throughout the day, I usually go over 7 wins per run (of course it's based on draft). In the evening, and especially Friday evening, my runs are a lot shorter and average around 4-5 wins. I've been playing since launch and I've started to notice this several years ago.
I love how you casually drop “I lose 80% of my games“ lol
I’ve never noticed that, but I hardly play late at night or in the morning. But in the last 9-10 years on hearthpwn, I’ve read about it many times. people sometimes even recommend laddering late at night to take advantage of that.
there are 2 common explanations. 1: people are just tired and suck. 2: bots whose “skill“ level is sub par. Do you see a lot of plague death knight? A lot of bots use it.
I don't really notice to be honest but of course there is going to be some variance right? Perhaps the good players have jobs or schools? Or the good players are live streamers and are playing during normal working hours? That sort of thing. Im sure there is a stats you could track but its honestly coincidence and irrelevant. You're being matched against the closest player to you AT THE TIME OF HITTING PLAY.
Why hide it? I have 3 kids and a house hold to look after, I play when I can. I don't have hours and hours a day to practise and git gud. I play when I can and if I get annoyed I stop. Simple as that

I have serious doubts about your statement. Arena is so unbalanced currently that if you don't run Death Knight or mage, it's very unlikely you will get more than 3 wins. The discovery cards of Death Knight are just too powerful and the Mage nage spell is also insane and hard to deal with.
I play ranked silver and it matches me against platinum players often. I know this cause people send me friend requests after matches and I send them as well if it was a good match. Dunno if there’s a silent MMR for that, but I typically find I lose most of my matches when I’m playing people with all gold and diamond cards more than when it’s prime time.

I have thought about this many times. For me I feel that I get easier games in the morning and harder ones at night.
it’s weird that I randomly think of these things and come onto this websites and someone has posted something I’ve thought about.

Skill? Which game are you playing again? Cant be Hearthstone.
Personally I didn't notice anything either.
