Yeah I think they might have jumped the shark with this expansion. It's good timing for me though because I've been playing since 2017 so I'm really ok at this point taking time away from the game. If they right the ship and lure me back then great. If not then I reckon I'll have moved on. The game was already teetering on the brink but the state of it now is just sheer madness. I spent $$$ like a madman on this game when I was first getting into it so I suffered from sunken cost fallacy for a long time. But even my blubbery whale ass has gotten my money's worth at this point. It's a painful job just completing quests...and that's when I'm auto-conceding against Warrior and Druid.
It's just not fun. It's just not. It's a hard thing to accept because I've been playing Hearthstone almost every day for almost 7 years. It's hard to let go but bro...if you're like me then be honest with yourself when you know it's not fun anymore. Change is hard but sometimes you gotta move on. Good luck to anyone else who's reached the point I'm at.
We also expect people to give reasoning as to WHY they feel a Meta is bad or needs change. Just randomly saying "I don't like it" is not a basis for discussion.
Why is this Meta bad and what would YOU change to make it better?
Freedom of speech. Why is it people need to give reason for not liking something but don't have to if they said "this is the best expansion". I see this on reddit subreddits all the time. All criticism of whatever the game the subreddit is for is pretty much banned even if it's high effort truthful criticism in some cases.
It's basically censorship and propaganda at that point like a tyrannical government. Providing reasoning would be logical but at the same time you don't ask for reasoning when Hearthstone is being praised. That's all.
Personally I think this meta is one of the best for creative deck building ever so I wouldn't call it the worst meta. The high amount of OTK decks, and some problematic cards such as Zilliax Deluxe 3000 are my only cons but its whatever if I really wanted legend id just play the broken decks.
Salt thread complaining about the meta just a day after an expansion drops. SSDD .
Part of what makes Hearthstone great is that nothing stays the same. You must figure out a way to beat the top decks. Sadly most of those complaining netdeck. They try one deck and lose, then another, and another, rinse and repeat.
Learn how to build decks, and if you cant, at least how to adapt decks to your play style. Then play it until you master it. Because a player who knows how to play a deck can win against the vast majority of people who netdeck.
You're just wrong.
I doubt that. In the end the answer is to learn how to beat the top decks. If you cant its likely not the fault of the game but pebkac.
LOL, That's only half the game, the other half is your deck not being naturally hard countered by the opponent's deck, with a pinch of RNG
What is bad about this meta? Are you joking? Every second game playing against Druid or Warrior with their bullshit endless removal or endless immortaliax? This is bad about this meta.
Agree 100%
The main problem is Zilliax. The version played by control decks (lifesteal; reborn; etc) is insufferable.
Nerf Zilliax, Nerf Reno warrior, Nerf lamplighter, and whatever

and then we'll complain about priest after everything is nerfed.

So you can build creative decks but you actually need to play with meta decks to achieve anything This is literally definition of bad meta.

That's literally how Hearthstone always is but I think there is a better chance to get to legend on a homebrew deck than ever before this meta with all the deck building options there are this expansion. Every meta feels bad tbh.
If people say you can homebrew in this meta, can you please say what deck your thinking of then. I don't think you can homebrew, this meta is filled with hyper power level already.
Criticism implies criticising something ergo giving reasons why something is bad. Saying something is bad doesn’t provide any criticism. I agree with you that we shouldn’t have to say how WE would make it better: we’re not employees at Blizzard or game devs. You can criticize a product without knowing how to fix it. I can say I’m not satisfied with something I bought without knowing how to fix it myself.
This is a discussion forum however so I assume reasons need to be given for the sake of sparking an exchange of ideas. It doesn’t have anything to do with freedom of speech, it’s just being practical. Also, freedom of speech doesn’t apply on a private forum. They can steer it the way they want to.

Free speech. People can criticize hearthstone however they like. If they dont want to provide reasoning they don't have to. Not providing a reason doesn't mean they don't have a reason.
Demanding a reason is what will make me not give you a reason, im not going to do something that is demanded of me.
and as I said I never see anyone asking for reasoning when someone compliments the game. So there is a double standard there so even more reason not to provide reasoning.
Who could have guessed that giving Warrior mana ramp would be a bad idea? It has always been difficult for Blizzard to manage ramp in just one class: Druid. Now they added it to another class… one which was already great at control, with the weakness of getting their big cards later in the game. Now they can lock everything down a couple turns earlier.
People said this is meta is bad, as they said expansions back, back and back again.
Still a lot of people continue playing.
Yet, I think this season reaches a break point in that either a fully aggresive deck wins or an otk mechanic arrives for almost all classes. Leaving this game a strange stage of solitary game. I keep playing HS for a lot of time since the Street of Gadgetzan, and I have a lot of fun, but the cheers and fun fact of it has been decreasing fast.
In fact this expansion I didn't buy nothing new, neither the season pack, neither preorder and don't play any game since last tuesday. Why? The charm is gone, this expansion is awful in term of artwork (my personal opinion) and thematic. New cards that encourage otk mechanics are not fun and aggro decks are.... hmmm fine I guess? I don't know.
What would do to fix all of this? A lot of playtesting before they release an expansion, and I don't mean playtest with developers, let more skilled and tricky players test the mechanics, each card and let them see the good, the bad and the ugly of each combination before the release. They may notice a combo that may be abused, another may notice a card that may shatter the play state and so on.
For now, I will take a break and leave this expansion out of my sight and focus in other games.
I just was browsing the collection and saw Spikeridged Steed in the core set. I remember feeling like this was impossible to get through. (as a F2P player in my first few months of the game at the time when Un'goro launched)
Now I see 40 reborn Divine Shield Ziliax and wonder if theres a way out haha

They should start a thing where they implement emergency tech cards into the meta for free, uncraftable.
Could use Smothering Starfish right about now. Seems like a big lack of tech cards rn. No armor tech, no secret tech, no good neutral silence cards...
That's a good observation. I tend to play Wild, where the impact of new sets is much reduced. In the majority of cases, there are tech cards available. *gazes fondly at Hex, Plague of Murlocs and Devolve*

Wild has barely changed.
Though i see time to time druid OTK on turn 5 with new cards.

This space is intentionally blank.

Yes. And the lacking tech cards are intentional as well.
I figured. Though instead of Starfish I would love a cheap single target silence minion. 1 mana 1/1 Silence a minion. Starfish might be too strong.
That's a good observation. I tend to play Wild, where the impact of new sets is much reduced. In the majority of cases, there are tech cards available. *gazes fondly at Hex, Plague of Murlocs and Devolve*
It wasnt different for a long time. As soon as you see your opponent, you basically know if it's a win or a loss.
Some matchups you can concede right away, since its pointless.
