Ok, so 20 Billion dollar company, I took a break for a year from the game hoping they would somewhat realize they need to balance the game more often and add some more flavorful cards to the game.
I didn't expect much but I was still disappointed.
Am I the only crazy one who thinks that they should nerf and buff cards way more often??
The meta is somewhat diverse which is good. A good number of classes have decks in the first two tiers. I don't really see the problem, but I can see how it can get tiring for people who play too much.
I think the flavour of the cards is still very good.
But there is too much burst damage, charge damage, mana cheating, and drawing and not enough class identity. It's a bad sign when you have to ban cards in wild, but it's even worse when you have to ban cards in standard.
And personally, and despite playing it myself (or actually because I played it myself?), I think Showdown was a mistake and should have been changed in terms of its mechanic, not its mana cost. Paladin and hunter are too strong and too explosive imo.
Playing fun and meme decks in wild or grinding achievements is honestly more fun than playing actual constructed.
The main problem is the time between expansions is quite short. And sometimes it takes a while before good decks get discovered and a meta settled. In order to balance around that you sometimes would have to wait..
I don’t think nerfing and buffing more often is gonna be healthy for the game, I would like they nerf faster when a certain deck is very strong/overpowered compared to the rest. For example the Druid deck they nerfed few days ago. And an example of a deck that went on for way too long: Reno warrior.
What they could do is release some cards randomly between expansions to stir up the meta. (Like Marin for example)
The ideal number of balance patches would be zero,. Failing that, the minimum number required to address broken decks in a timely fashion, which seems to be what they're doing.
The balancing is much better than it used to be, the flavor is about as good as it's ever been although it's getting increasingly wacky. But that's probably fine the Alterac Valley year was very serious and very boring.
The game's just super old now, many of us have been playing near 10 years, it's really hard to make stuff that feels fresh.
I am going to say no. Some nerfs didn't make sense. But what gets me is we can go a long time with some terrible cards that need balancing but they take forever to act or not at all. Then there are cards that can be exploited and those get nerfed right away. They show they have the ability to nerf something sooner but are selective. So for me I think they could do better. There is always improvement. The true goal should be testing before a release.
You can play every class and do well which rarely happens in HS. There are decks that are better than others but that happens in any game. If you keep losing to something you can counter it in a pretty reasonable way. Never understood the amount of rage and crying that goes into people not being able to win. People seem to hate any amount of RNG (it’s a freaking card game) until they get the better of it. Only thing I will say is I’m underwhelmed by the newer cards but I’m sure it’ll be great fun. It doesn’t seem like ridiculous power creep like people always complain about but I’m sure they will anyway. Just play the game, have fun.
I don't mind the current state of constructed. There are still some non-games depending on match up, but right now it feels relatively balanced particularly after the whelp ban. I don't play aggro, so I don't know how viable this archeype currently is though. You don't see it too often on ladder though which makes me think that could do with a change.
It's going to be a shit-show once the expac. launches though. Some of the new cards just look like they'll be broken and the tourist mechanic is (imo) really shitty. Don't get me wrong, I really liked the idea when it was announced. Now that I've seen the cards though it seems like a cynical attempt to make you require more legendaries. Pain priest cards - oh you mean the DH cards with priest colours? Priest basically gets half a set, but most of the hunter cards are rubbish for priest. It won't matter though because I think it's going to be druids and warriors all day.
There's definitely going to be cards that get nerfed because they can be abused by the tourist class but not by the actual class - that's going to feel rubbish.
No its complete trash and there is almost nothing they can do to fix it. The only thing they can do is to nerf the global powerlevel to make the experience a little bit better. Maybe 40 card decks so you can't always predict every play your opponent does.
Remove Leeroy from Standard and it would be better. Leeroy just cause problems and OP decks. As long as handbuffs are in the game Paladin will be tier 1 for the coming year and anything that is strong enough to beat it will get nerfed because its considered to powerful.
A strong tempo deck should never ever have access to a combo finisher its just to strong.
the meta is look fine maybe paladin and DK are in the better position right now and shaman the worst moment for control decks reno remain the strongest card and hunter is a middle deck ,rogue have some decks i play rogue usual and mining is ok. Always was something like that one class doing good and other struggle.
I think there should be LESS expansions, 2 in a year is enough. a miniset in between does well to give ideas and adjust decks.
So that playes can acquire cards, buy decks now and then, study the meta, as not everyoone can buy all offers, and some have limited budget.
Also LESS nerf ! they should be kept to extreme situations only and after few weeks where statistics will show abnormal usage of them.
Each class has upsetting cards for other classes, some get better new ones in expansion but is changes every expansion.
This means that after expansion - player can improve old deck in wild, enjoy twist, and have dynamic build/change his deck in standard, after learning, planning the current meta.
Always we will have the dilemma whether to use agrro fast deck of slow one, whether to build dedicated deck to our class or include counters and healing, which may turn very helpful or dead cards. But that's the fun in HS !
This is one of the worst metas in a LONG time in HS. The reason why imo is because control decks are far too oppressive and strong. Not only that, but they all play the exact same and use mostly the same cards. People still whine about how 'aggro is no skill' and 'aggro is too strong and control decks are too weak' all over the forums, but that's because the wallet/greed control players are the most vocal and they've had their way for so long that everyone else quit. So now we live in a world where board clears are so stupidly broken and common that it's IMPOSSIBLE to win using early-game minions. Hard removal is insanely overtuned too. You cannot play any strategy that involves planning to have one of your minions live for a turn. So every deck is designed to be 'low-synergy' and be full of high individual power-leveled cards that solo the game with no synergistic cards. Cards like whatever your class's titan is, Marin, the Manager, Flint Firearm, Yogg-Saron, Prison of Yogg-Saron, Zilliax, Photographer Fizzle, Reno, and one or two other class legendaries. On top of that, every deck runs hand/deck disruption like Dirty Rat (one of the worst designed cards of all time, but loved by toxic whale players that infest the forums).
It gets really old when only one strategy is viable (greed control/ legendary spam) and it's extra bad when half of the cards that are broken are neutral cards because it makes every deck and match feel the same. And also, one of the worst aspects of this meta is that games take 20 minutes and nothing you do actually matters. Whoever draws better will win because all of the best cards are ones you just play on board with no set up. No intelligent thought has to go in to playing your titan. You just play it on board when your enemy's board isn't going to kill you. To fix this meta, they need to nerf all of these stupid neutral greed/lifesteal cards, board clears, and most importantly: NERF TITANS. AND STOP PRINTING CARDS THAT SOLO THE GAME WITH NO SETUP. AND STOP PRINTING HAND DISTRUPTION. But theyre not going to do that. They love hand distruption because the whales ask for more of it.
I, too, prefer the meta when my favored play style is the strongest, and counters to that play style aren't viable.
I have no idea why blizzard won't STOP PRINTING CARDS I DON'T LIKE and NERF CARDS THAT ARE BAD FOR MY GAME PLAN.
Unfortunately the game is infested with toxic, low-IQ individuals who aren't me, and Blizzard is stupidly choosing to make cards that the majority of players enjoy, rather than accommodating my specific preferences.

I still think this game needs several massive nerf patches to artificially nuke the power level.
The meta is somewhat diverse which is good. A good number of classes have decks in the first two tiers. I don't really see the problem, but I can see how it can get tiring for people who play too much.

I don't see any issues with the meta.
There were always just a few classes with Tier S decks and some other few with Tier A decks.
There was always at least one class bad in the current meta.
This is the situation at this point. If your old deck is not good anymore it is because the meta changed. So you should also change the deck.
As long as the Tier S decks have at least one deck that destroys them, the meta is fine.
Your favourite hero will not always be on top and at some point he will be at the bottom of the meta. accept this!
The main problem is the time between expansions is quite short. And sometimes it takes a while before good decks get discovered and a meta settled. In order to balance around that you sometimes would have to wait..

And many Buffs for old cards.
Like Hir'eek, Drain Life, Runespear, some of the Schemen cards, Lightwell.
Something like that.

It's kinda sad that I am making this poll instead of blizzard
It would be so cool if they made polls for the community either to buff the card / nerf it or keep it the same.
