There are lots of bots in lower ranks these days, but why you consider that a bad thing? They offer free, fast wins, and you can get your quests done more easily.
Some people would actually like to have some interesting and engaging gameplay instead of just "free, fast wins" to "get your quests done more easily".
That said though how the entire game developed in recent years I can see how a lot of players might be more on your side. I personally really don't get it. Just play to get "easy wins" and "complete your quests"? What's the point in that? Where's the fun? I don't get it. But sure, if that's fun for people.
It certainly isn't for me and there are at least some other players out there that also would rather like to play a "real game" instead of just "playing to collect free fast wins and get quests done". And yeah, for those people facing bots is rather annoying.
At best we would have better social features so it doesn't matter as much since as a F2P game it probably will always be a problem. Imagine Fireside Gatherings but everything online and like available to all. But of course they removed Fireside Gatherings alltogether instead of making an improvement like that. Well, at least for now; maybe there's still hope.
Seeing as you’re being upvoted on this, I need to know.
Where’s the enjoyment in winning without any challenge? I’m referring to those easy bot-wins. Suppose you reached Legend or high legend facing those bots, what have you achieved?
Let’s take things one step further. Suppose the community is looking for easy wins, why not cut out the multiplayer element and focus on everyone just facing the same third-party bots which use the same A.I. strategy?
Suppose we were to do this, how long would the game survive with this kind of mechanic? Would people find that fun?
I’m talking about the third-party bots here, not the more elaborate Blizzard bots.
Here’s my take: nobody would play Hearthstone if it was only about winning against bots for quote “easy wins”, not even people who don’t see the issue with bots. I’d say the real question is: when did winning become important than overcoming a challenging opponent? It’s more a psychological thing than about the game itself but that’s certainly a rabbit hole worth exploring.
I hope this gives you a better understanding as to why the “but bots are just easy win” mentality isn’t healthy when it comes to a competitive game. Interestingly, the obsession to win is also what fuels bot-users and the third party bot-economy. Again, this is more a psychological/cultural issue than something Hearthstone related.

It's hard to believe that many words were written about a case that does not happen. No bots are ever gonna be anywhere close to legend. In fact for me they disappear well before I hit gold. The Blizzard ones I have never faced except in my first games of twist. Don't worry, your perceived sense of self-satisfaction is well protected. I swear nothing is worse than people who need to feel good about winning in a video game.
I swear nothing is worse than people who need to feel good about winning in a video game.
But isn't the point of games to have fun? lol
Although I personally of course also care that the other person - or like if I would be on the other side - would also have fun. So for me it's certainly not about "winning". For me it's mostly about a lot of cool and awesome stuff happening between the beginning and the end but also about having a "fair" game where anyone has about the same chance of winning. And bots playing with boring basic decks that often also don't even stand a chance to win realistically it's... just unfun. Yeah.
But I guess your sentiment fits the "pro bot argument" of "It's good because you get free fast easy wins to complete quests". It seems rather strange to me, but for quite a decent amount of people the game seems to be more of a job or annoying chore than anything else. And somehow that is "fun" for those people? Yeah... I really don't get it, but if you're coming from that angle the argument kinda makes sense. It's just that I don't get behind the premise at all. Just too weird too me.
In the end I think we can maybe agree that for some people those bots are not as bad if not even good, but also for yet other people it can be really annoying. And the best would be something like modes for specifically easy bot games maybe on one hand and on the other better social functionalities to easier get to games with guaranteed real people.
Rarely post in forums but yeah, I think > 50% of my matches are against bots. The pattern I notice is robotic play mechanics such as near zero-length playtime decisions, or exactly-timed intervals between play gestures. Hovering over hero power is another reported bot behavior tho I never investigated.
There are tons of deathknights bots.
My estimated ratio of bot opponents is anecdotal but I would bet confidently I play MORE bot accounts than live humans on the other side of the screen.
I love matching with bots, real players take like the whole turn every turn to do nothing, while the bots actually play at my speed. I would play against only bots if it meant not being roped every single game.
If you are stuck in bronze/silver rank playing against bots and you feel trapped and cut off from the "real challenge" you have to find a way of outsmarting those bastards, think like the bot. I'm sure you'll find exiting games very soon if you spend less time here and more time beating those little devils. And if you can't beat them, join them ;)
side note: Not trying to discredit critique of the matchmaking system or people tired of AFK players. But isn't botting generally just a problem if you are an experienced player with no MMR and no time to play?
There are tons of bots in Bronze and some in Silver, after that it stops completely as it should as it is always a free win. If you are stuck there...ouch.
As with those that don't appear in your last played list, I think these are actual bots from Blizzard that are used when no matchup is found fast enough. Still only appears in same low ranks.
The bots you don’t see on Recently Played are Blizzard bots. Implemented to help raise your MMR and give you experience. Since you said you’ve never really played Standard, you’re likely facing a bunch right now because the game doesn’t know exactly where your Standard MMR should be.
I concur. There are certain times of day that standard is unplayable, because every opponent is a token death night. It’s eight out of 10 games are against the single bot type.
this with the news they laid off a large chunk of the team I am guessing this game is pretty much dead and will funnel what’s left of its user base to the new blizzard mobile game coming out in November
There are so many bots because the top decks are auto-pilot, skill-less Bull crap. This is a FACT. Druid, Warlock and Warrior along with Mech Rogue are the easiest decks to play in the history of CCGs. Hence, you can bot them easily. If theyd fix the game then bots wouldnt be so prevalent and do so well. Another FACT.

These "FACTS" sound like "bears, beets, battlestar galactica" to me.
Bots are not doing well. The bots are all stuck facing low bronze players because they can't win. If you spent the time to read this thread, you would have noticed that the only people who face a large amount of bots are players who have not played standard in a long time, meaning they have very low internal MMR.
Third party bots usually rely on Death Knight , I’ve never seen anything else. Warrior, Warlock and Druid aren’t as efficient I would imagine and require more versatility (even Druid). Death Knight bot strategy is always fill the board and then buff for lethal. It’s simple, quick and efficient. Druid is similar but slightly more complex (talking about the drums one).
The bots situation is better now than before. I used to face bots all the way to platinum. I wish I could find the screenshot but a streamer reached legend on bots iirc. Don’t believe people telling you it’s a bronze thing, it’s not true and disinformation.
I’m not saying playing Odyn and then armor up for lethal requires a lot of skill, just that as far as I know, it’s not a strategy used by bots. Bots are trained for quick matches with quick resolution and death knight seems the way to go. It demonstrate playing aggro requires very basic skill however, since Death Knight used to reach platinum by using the exact same strategy regardless of the opponent.

So your take away is that bots don’t make it to legend and are therefore not a problem.
That’s not it. Try again. You can do it.

I only play standard though, platinum rank so my MMR shouldn’t be low and I am ONLY facing bots the last 24 hours.
It is the end of month so who is still in Platinum at this point beside bots?
Thanks for that jackass comment. Lots of help.
