New mode yada yada. No star bonus since gold. How are you expected to aim for legend when it just takes too long to ladder. My suggestion: have one star bonus across all game modes. You carry your best one every month.
How are you expected to aim for legend when it just takes too long to ladder
I played Twist for about 2 days. I won a lot (80% or so) but around Diamond 10, it got terminally boring with opponents competently piloting samesy decks over and over again (which is what I was doing too).
I found I would rather do something else than play more of the mode.
I think the answer is that you would get bored of Twist and decide to quit playing it before you would hit legend.
Streamers will play a mode if they are having fun doing it. All of them quit Twist after a day or so.
So I doubt you have the superhuman endurance to make legend in Twist ... no human in a non-Chinese country has the stamina to make legend.
The Chinese players are fine with Twist, they are making money playing the game --- it beats working in the shoe factory and it beats working in the iPhone factory where the only way to leave work is jump off the building during lunch break.
I found the choice to make the star bonus based on Wild MMR alone to be very strange. If New Age was chosen as the first ruleset to be “more accessible” why make standard players struggle against each other in bronze until they get squashed by decks full of old cards they don’t have. I wouldn’t say that twist as a whole got old after a day or so - the “New Age” Stormwind Questline meta did. Twist has the potential to become popular every month as long as the actual twist is compelling.
In the future Twist star bonus will be based on Twist, it was just based on Wild now because no one has a previous Twist rank.
Of course. It’s just a complete slog right now for standard players. I hit D5 every month on standard ladder but on twist I was playing for hours to make it to platinum 10. I don’t think I have the patience to keep pushing - for this format at least.
You must be kidding. You are playing format that is simply fast solitaire 7 minute per game and progression is too slow?
He could be using a "Battle Ready" deck. Those decks include cards that throw the game.
For instance, Quest Druid has Guff Hero. If you play Guff Hero, how do you complete the quest when you no longer have the attack hero power? You probably don't. What do those Groovy Cats do if you get rid of the attack hero power?
I bought the Druid Battle Ready deck with my Battlegrounds pile of unusable gold. But I did it seeing it had 4 legendaries that I could immediately dust making on par with buying a miniset.
(I then proceeded to craft some stuff for Wild and played some of that with a funny idea for a deck, the funny idea worked and got bored of Wild around Diamond 5. But it wasn't the Twist level of boring. The Wild meta only sucks, the Twist meta is the same game over and over and over).

It is slow if you only play a few games per day, yes. I play my own version of otk mage, with spellpower and the legendary that doubles your arcane spells. Can sometimes get wins on turn 5 or 6. It's usually a loss to mages that play the dragons, or to decks that build a big board too soon, but wins against most other things. Even with ~70% winrate, it takes an ungodly amount if games to reach legend in a format that changes every month. Having said that, it's good to hear we get a more reasonable star bonus from next month... Still doesn't change the fact that this month sucked for the grind.
