this is not supposed to sound like "they shouldn't have changed anything" - because I think they needed to change a lot, as HS wasn't in the best state when I left. But I really have to ask: Am I the only one who thinks the game took a, kind of, weird direction in the last few years based on removal, boardclear and especially swingturns and powerlevels of cards?
I actually only came back to play a bit of oldschool miracle rogue (I know, I know... complaining about swingturns and playing Rogue... xD) and I did that, hit diamond in 2 days and it was really fun for a few days, but then I realized that I encountered a lot of bots so I checked if there is a good rogue deck right now for standard. I found something from Casie which seemed kinda cool, so I crafted it and enjoy it so far. I feel like I have a lot to learn still, so my very bad successrate has definitely something to do with me not piloting the deck too well, don't get me wrong. But there is a feeling that I can't really shake off... The feeling that sometimes It doesn't really matter how good I play and especially how oppressive my board state is, the opponent does what he does anyways. I can have the most ridiculous board, and the opponent is able to clear It in turn 7 and build a board up himself in the same turn. I also recognized that a lot of the old cards got buffed, I goes to keep up with the crazy power level of the newer cards, but it seems that nobody plays the old buffed cards anyways because a Flamestrike with 5dmg is just a joke these days. I played a lot of hearthstone back in the days and have something around 3,5k rogue wins in standard, so in general I understood the game and also know about when to play for tempo and when to play for value etc.. But as I said, I am quite confident that I don't pilot the new miracle rogue deck perfectly of course and have a lot to learn about the new decks and classes.
With this post I really only want to get a feeling about how the community sees the game right now... Am I crazy?
English isn't my first language, so if you recognize some sloppy grammar, that's why :)
Came back for DK, got bored after about a month and went back to playing battleground and arena. Right before Deathknight was release the game was in a good state in my mind - control decks and long games seemed to be the meta at that point.
After DK the meta was getting established and Deathrattle rogue was horrible to play against untill they nerfed it. I have no idea where the game is at now. I still win a couple of games with blood dk, but not enought to tell what is in atm.
No, you´re not crazy... the game downfall was when ben brode left it, from there is a endless decline and I'm not even one of those people who repeats and defends this thesis vehemently, but nowadays I can see that, it was a long term impact.
I don't like to talk about it too much either because most of the time I'm going to come across as arrogant and boastful but this game was much more about strategy and skills than copy paste the most lame deck out there and spam it on ladder 24/7 while youwatch netflix or make a poop. (you gonna encounter a lot of dks that does it or even bots from what i heard)
The game is not worth it playing anymore, thats sadly the truth... i still do because i´ve been playing card games since i was 7 yo and the other options we have are just straight up garbage imo, even marvel snap (which btw is the new ben brode´s project) i dont get the joy of it. Basically im constantly thinking hearthstone can get better but it only get worse , thats the scenario for me.

I am in Marvel Snap since November and I love it. I come here to read the complaints. It is fun.
