every month 5 most played cards in previous season are banned, and 3 random allready banned cards are unbanned... and this every month... that would change the meta over and over...
Ok, but what about the people who like their decks and don't want to change them up every month and relearn a whole new meta? What about people who crafted a card they thought they would be able to use only to find out it gets banned for a month? You know, most people who play the game. The amount of arrogance on this site is astounding...
damn that is some solid what aboutisme, sound like you lack real world expirence. there are downsides and upsides with everything
You mean whataboutism? No it's not because I'm not deflecting to a different issue. I'm addressing the argument and assessing it's viability. Please learn the definition or words you are using.
Do you mean experience? I don't know what your argument there is other than attempting to offend me. Do you just not like when people point out problems with your way of doing things? Maybe you need some experience in dealing with viewpoints other than your own.
you are deflecting to a different issue but nothing productive will come out of a conversation with your attitude so end it here
I didn't deflect anything lol. I responded to the guys idea and addressed it's viability in both cases. You have not yet once said anything about the argument and have simply dismissed anything you don't agree with.
I'm very flattered by your attention, but how about addressing the ideas rather than me. Maybe learn about ad hominem as well as whataboutism while you're at it.
At least I play wild to have nearly every card available, I already disliked blizzard banning cards (but that’s a necessary evil since they won’t nerf standard cards before rotation for wild purposes). Your idea leads to some cards (wild exclusives) being literally unuseable for a month. Cards some people paid money for. The whole rotation thing is a rip off in the first place
That is why we should have access to the whole collection, even in standard. And no, not like Wild is now.
Basically you can always "access" all/any of your cards like this:
- wild stays the same, all cards, all expansions
- standard gets a rotation of available expansions, like arena has now
- these rotations change after 2 months or so, or any interval deemed appropriate to not get bored and shake up the meta, irrespective of other releases (like minisets and such)
- probably the idea of a miniset becomes a bit redundant too, in this context
- this also means that an "expansion" doesn't need to have 130+ cards out of which 90% are almost useless. Maybe expansions should in fact be limited minisets, with fewer released cards.
The problem is the financial aspect for blizzard. They release huge (useless) expansions to justify the cost of the bundles and such.
Hearthstone as a game needs to grow in order to continue to make profit and for this reason it needs to print new cards, there are some issues with this when it comes to completive play, especially when it comes to some card design choices which I will attempt to clarify below, this post has the goal of setting the ground rules for a format of hearthstone which I believe will be what old school hearthstone players like myself, who is often unsatisfied with the game seek from the game. The format will consist of a selection of cards where certain card design choices will be banned while others may not even if they consist of the same keyword.
Every single one of your complaints has appeared in this and other forums multiple times over many years. Bundling together your personal list of peeves isn't helpful, and it won't really grab the attention of Blizzard. It's more productive to discuss one topic at a time ... but it still won't change anything.
Take mana cheat, for instance. Everyone knows it's a problem, and some very lengthy, very well-thought-out essays have been offered on the subject, but Team 5 keeps on designing those mana cheat cards! Why? Because Team 5 sucks at differentiating between what people like and what people play.
It works like this: They design a card with mana cheat, knowing it will be too strong. People use that card because it helps them win (despite the fact that it makes the game overall less fun). Team 5 assumes that if we are using a card a lot, we must really like that card, so they design more cards like it in the future. You can't argue with a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I think it is helpful to setup a clear consensus of what is believed to be good and bad design for the game so i don't agree with you at all. it all fits together in a holistic manner so keeping them separate don't make sense

You don't have to agree with me. I'm just explaining to you why your thread will go nowhere productive.

IMHO, considering that Hearthstone is a F2P game and keeping in mind all issues that unavoidably come with it, Hearthstone is a very good game, one of the best in it's genre. Main problem is that we players look at the game only from our point of view and forget about other, more important POV and main reason why the game is out there - business & profit.
I'm with the game since beta and I've seen a lot worse than we have now, so I can safely say that current state of the game is about as good as it gets. Things may improve slightly in the future or they can be even worse - both is equally possible, but all in all I think that Hearthstone team is doing pretty good job last few years.
How to make Hearthstone more enjoyable? Don't get overinvested in it. Take a break. Don't netdeck and grind. Making your own deck, testing and improving it is the most fun you can have. Try other game modes. Try other F2P card games.
There is nothing wrong with "ban everything I don't enjoy losing to" posts, half of the game is losing so it should be a somehow barrable experience and with the introducing of mechanics such as those iv stated in the post the most crucial aspect losing is lost, the evaluation. here begins thoughts like, "should i tech vs aggro" "is the deck too greedy" "do i need more draw" without the evaluation part of the game it is just a glorified slot machine, and not everyone enjoys being a mindless fiend,, so please be considerate, as a reminder this post is not about banning anything from the current standard format, it is about setting up a separate form of hearthstone without all the mindless fiend mechanics that a lot of people don't enjoy
side note, discover is in no shape or form a skill intensive mechanic, what metrics are you even considering?? sounds to me like regurgitated fiend nonsense
It's simple.
Ban Rogue.

kind of a high standard to expect something "productive" from a fan forum, so no need to tell me that other than being negative for no reason

In death, I exact my revenge!
Oh my good word, it’s another “please ban everything I don’t enjoy losing to” post.
Discover is a super skill-intensive mechanic.
Also, I think “feel free to go play Classic” is a GREAT suggestion in this case. 🙄

Refilling your hand is the real problem with mana cheating.
Look how busted Auctioneer became at 5 mana.
I'm okay with double innervate coin Oger
