For those of you who have been around for both the launch of Demon Hunter and Death Knight, which class do you believe was executed better?
From a gameplay standpoint, I believe without a doubt that Death Knight did it better. There is so much variety from the class, and I find it a lot more fun to play. As a wild player, I can also really appreciate how Death Knight can actually utilize Genn Greymane (unlike DH). I haven't played much standard ladder since the launch of this class, however, so I'm not sure how much more balanced it is than DH was upon release.
Additionally, I believe the class identity is a lot more present than Demon Hunter's was. Corpses are a more sound mechanic than Outcast in my opinion.
What is the general consensus on this so far? I know it's only been a few days, but that's more than enough time for opinions to form.
I like the corpse mechanic. With how insignificant most hero powers have become nowadays, something new to differentiate the class is nice. Balancing corpse generation with spending creates fun deckbuilding and gameplay.
I don't like the Rune mechanic, at least not right now. It limits the card pool so much that you can't differentiate your deck from everyone else. This is further compounded by the fact that DK cards are so powerful that you don't really want to run many neutral cards.
The gameplay of DK has very little that's new, we've seen similar gameplay from other classes in the past. But as a fan of control decks I'm very happy to have Blood DK.
And for DH:
The outcast mechanic is pretty boring, and very underutilized.
The hero power is quite interesting since it costs 1 mana, making it actually useful.
From a gameplay and theme perspective I think DH falls completely flat. The aggressive playstyle has been done dozens of times before, and the slower playstyles don't really have a clear identity.

Overall I think DK is the more interesting class, even if it's far from perfect.
DH at the launch was more a super Aggro class that dominated and killed everything by turn 4-6... It is not my play style. I dislike the class and didn't play it so often until DH started to diversify to slower decks like Big DH, Outcast DH, Relic DH, Spell DH, OTK DH, Midrange DH, etc.
Launch of DK was executed better IMO as it promoted different play styles (not necessarily competitive yet but they can support more in the future) from Aggro to Combo and Control. Blood DK decks are fun and it reminded me of classic control decks (Priest, Warrior, Paladin) in Hearthstone.
This is kinda an unfair question. Demon hunter absolutely dominated when it came out to the point where no one could claim it was balanced at the start. So, yes, the launch was worse.
However, if you look at how the DH class plays and the versions of it that have existed, I think it has a lot to offer. Some of the most fun decks from recent expansions have been Big demon hunter, relic demon hunter, and the combo decks that used lifesteal or attack. On release, Altruis the Outcast, Kayn Sunfury, Imprisoned Antaen, Priestess of Fury were all super fun - they just were also completely busted.
Corpses might make more sense thematically, but I'd argue that outcast makes for more interesting deckbuilding and in-game decisions. I wish there were more viable outcast cards currently.
The other factor is the hero power. DK hero power feel like one of the clunkiest hero powers in the game in my opinion and I much prefer demon hunter's power.
What is a better class in terms of gameplay or winrate? Because For me the fact that DH has lost the identity of the class (now is just pseudo-mage with more agresive minions and access to weapons) kinda tells me what class i prefer. Death Knight for now is the most well constructed of the two. I want to play Death Knight because it fun for me to play Death Knight. i Find Demon Hunter boring from my personal experience i dont really like mage so a more aggresive version of Mage that wants to play the most boring kind of deck (spell-only with very aggresive focus) its kinda a no-no for me.
But even if we go back and talk about other Demon Hunter decks there are maybe 2 that really catch me like Big Demon hunter for example. Or the midrange version of the aggro that was more challeging to play with waaay less reach.
