I’ve been having fun with off meta decks that I craft myself, but at diamond 5 it just becomes unplayable because of Theotar, the Mad Duke. That card is in every meta deck right now, it has no downside in any slow deck. All board based decks need to keep pushing earlygame to make sure they don’t fully heal up again withSire Denathrius. Theotar just stops your momentum. It can always steal your best card. I’m doing my daily quest and then play battlegrounds, hopefully the mini set will give some buffs to board based decks…
You can have fun with homebrew decks, but you are unlikely to have fun and climb. D5 is where it's competitive and Enrage Warrior is just bad, Theo or not.
The deck doesn't suck because there is a one-of that could potentially hit your best card if you happen to have it in hand.
You can play homebrew decks if they counter a specific target audience.
I have made control decks that are favorable both vs fast aggro AND priest at the same time, but they lose 100% to midrange decks (like hunter and secret mage) and combo decks. These decks usually get me to legend a little after the decently skilled netdecking players get there.
Remember that Theotar gives the opponent 3 choices, not your full hand. Keeping a hand of 8-9 cards decreases the chance that Theotar hits. In example, I used to play Schooling in many of my shaman decks simply for Theotar reason (the card isn't that bad anyways).
However, considering that Mutanus is also a card, playing a deck that relies one 1 specific cardthat is played after turn 7, as only win condition, is a very bad idea.

See, this is your problem.
