So last announced for blizz is runestone ,and they said they wanted to give smal bundles and offer bla bla bla.
Thing is this is not true ,if you see there announcements you will see they forced it to every other mode in the game, so problem was not battleground ,if you don't believe me check the mini set you , now you either buy it with gold or runestone ,and the decks they used to offer . What blizzard is doing now is simply trying to make huge money before Microsoft takes it all , I believe we should not buy the runestones , nobody should steal our money and honestly they should see how that reflects bad for them greedy people
Yes they are obviously trying to cash in a lot in order to increase the stock value in order to complete maybe the acquisition with Microsoft. In order to be, in future, maybe, saved by them from all this shit.
Anyway, for me, it is an easy “Fuck your crap! Go to hell!”
It is so fun to watch all this vortex of madness that Blizzard is creating. 80€ for 8k Runestone, an in game currency for an 8 years old game always bugged, when a new fully developed Triple-A costs 50/60€.
Do you not understand just how many people play this game? Most of them do not frequent the forums or Reddit either, so of course the majority of posts are the ones that dislike it. It will be successful, and many many people will buy them. Calling it stealing though, is just weird, you don't have to buy anything.
You do know that most people do knows of this websites cause of decks.. etc that's . 2nd yeah it's called stealing ur money by force or liars , when they say we are implementing something so we can offer small bundles , and mainly it was for battleground, but then you see that alot of things is using it instead of money that's a lie and stealing ,it's not bout buy or not it's about respecting our minds , we pay because we like the game or have fun , but forcing me to buy in a different way that's not correct .and trust me the game is losing alot of people .
LOL we will see if people will be so dumb or if they killed HS because most of the people will drop out the game, and it will be out of the major 30 games on Twitch.
Because it makes a difference to buy x stones for 15$ and then use x stones to buy a mini set? That you have to explain to me, since if you look at the available packages of runestones there is one that is exactly! A mini set. And packs and pre order still go by cash…
Because now you have also to pay (you cannot use the gold anymore) for BG if you want to choose between 4 characters instead of between 2. For this reason people are complaining that BG is now P2W because indeed you have an higher chance to win when you have 4 characters. You can only not purchase anymore adventures with gold and you cannot purchase “other products” (we will see the meaning) with gold. Anyway, everything is also disappointing because this is the same strategy of Diablo Immortal, which is to hide your in-game expenses with an in-game currency in the middle.
Even more disappointing is to see a rise in overall cost for a game 8 years old that is loosing public since years.
It's not "stealing", if people willingly buy their products. Sure, the prices in HS are too high, but it's not like in many p2w mobile games, which basically force you to pay money. In Hearthstone you can still get most of the cards without paying any money and cosmetics are purely optional.
Just to clarify, I still think Blizzard's business model is corrupted, with all the scandals around the company and they definitely are very greedy with microtransactions in their games. All I want to say is that people on this forum often claim, that Hearthstone is p2w, which it isn't.
It makes a difference if you bought stuff with amazoncoins. You always get more coins as you paid money for. F.e. you get 10k coins which is worth 100€ ingame stuff and you just pay 82€.
Now you are forced to buy the miniset for gold or buy runestones. This means you have to pay exactly the amount of money to get the same amount of runestones.
So you are getting less by buying runestones than amazoncoins.
The main issues with runestones are really the fact that the whole idea is intended to generate "dormant balance". Essentially, hope for players to buy a big amount "for later", that they then never really spend because they forget, have leftovers, or don't see anything they want etc. This is essentially allowing them to sell bundles of Nothing™ "for future stuff".
And the second main issue is that currently they are saying that bundles will match exact prices, which is good, but the very obvious long term objective (because literally there is pretty much no point in doing this otherwise, otherwise they could have just pushed for Blizzard Balance instead) is to eventually start introducing small products that won't actually fit any bundle size - it will start with one of the "small items" they talk about, i would imagine, being cheaper than the smallest bundle, maybe with a "-20% price" tag on it -, which means you'll eventually be forced to purchase more runestones that you need for the purchase you want, and from there you'll always have leftovers that kinda push you to get more when there's another purchase that interests you "because you're already kinda almost there, might as well pay a little extra" but then you'll have extra again, etc.
It's a hallmark mathematical and psychological tactic in mobile games to get players to pay and fall into the sunk cost fallacy easier, and there's not a single doubt in anyone's mind, i think, that this is 100% their long term objective with this addition, and it sucking fucks, and i really don't think it will backlash much, because as people said, there's too many players who don't really care that much, aren't following forums and stuff, and, more importantly: that kind of tactics works very fucking well. And you kinda only need to look at diablo immortal to see a very glaring example of how absolute trash publicity still very much does not prevent the success of that kind of things...
LOL we will see if people will be so dumb or if they killed HS because most of the people will drop out the game, and it will be out of the major 30 games on Twitch.
Obviously at the end of the day the consumer has to vote with their wallet.
If everyone stops feeding in monetary support, only then will they begin to adjust... and adjust .... and adjust.... hopefully it will be too late because Hearthstone will just die out, but even then, WE the gamers lost because Bobby already leeched and sucked out the "Juice", the gluttonous entity that he is, will just let the lifeless corpse rest aside and just open a new source of Income. People like him are completely empathetically numb and ruthless. The dude wouldn't throw a coin to a Homeless guy ... really for Mr. Kotick one can only hope for Karma.
The greed is unreal. When I started playing 6 years ago it was only gold it was fine. You could earn an adventure eventually or buy it and that was fine. You would have a complete collection with an investment of a few bucks of saving up gold.
Today you can buy EVERYTHING. Not only that you can but you have to, just to be competitive and relevant in any game mode. New players have to invest money equal to 4 other perfect games just to get you going.
I bought the last 4 expansion bundles because I still liked the game and it's the only game I play kinda. But when is it enough? How many hero skins can you try to sell? We have 20+ skins for each hero, countless skins in BGs, mercenaries, etc.
The game is NOT developing. It's the same as it was 6 years ago. You only added some cards, effects, and a few new animations. That's it!
And that is not worth increasing the game price by 2000%. The only thing that did change is that Blizzard now needs more money than ever before. This is not game development. It is purely selling pixels that have no effect whatsoever.
Today you can buy EVERYTHING. Not only that you can but you have to, just to be competitive and relevant in any game mode. New players have to invest money equal to 4 other perfect games just to get you going.
No, you dont have to buy everything to be competitive. You dont have to play every meta deck to be competitive. You dont have to have extra hero choices in BG to be competitive. You dont have to have every mercenary to be competitive. You dont have to play every mode to be competitive.
There are lots of f2p and budget players who do just fine. They get off the hype train first of all. Then they learn to play the game and how to allocate resources.
Blizzards job is to make money and to create hype to make you spend more money. They are a business. Smart players understand this and learn to limit what they choose to spend if anything. You will not be able to play every meta deck you find, but find a good one and master it. A person playing a mastered deck will win against someone trying new decks over and over. While harder, learn the hero's in BG and how to play all of them. Focus in on the best mercenaries and build them.
You dont need everything. You also dont have to play everything.

You don't have to play everything. And that's fine. And f2p players can still play the game.
My point is when the game first launched from a game development point of view nothing changed, only the price.
It's a business and if they have to make money that's fine. But for the amount of new content, it's not worth the investment. You're better off trying different games than investing in this one if you are willing to spend money on games.
I was a f2p player when I started playing and reached legend 5 years ago even as a f2p. That doesn't change the fact that they are selling pixels and trying to monetize game modes without any actual improvement to the game itself.
Since the battle pass stuff came out I have not bought a single pack with real money and ended up with 50-60 packs from gold. Plenty to build a couple competitive decks day 1.
Also with the rotating core cards they give you complete core sets so entry to the game is cheaper than ever. If you don't play wild this is a huge change as you can dust cards without fear of them being needed again.
They also give away more legendary cards than ever between the pre-launch one and battle pass one(s).
BUT at the same time for completionists the game is also more expensive than ever. Battle pass, hero skins, BG advantages, huge ever growing wild mode collection. However, this is true of any collection based game or hobby...the further into its life the more expensive it is to "catch up".
For the average (and especially new) player though, I definitely agree the game is cheaper than ever.
Easy. You get a guaranteed legendary in your first 10 packs each expansion. You get duplicate protection. You get a competetive free legendary (like renathal) each expansion. You get more rewards from reward track then you ever got before. You are not caped to earn 100 gold a day by playing since you always get xp whereas there was a time where you stopped getting gold after I think 30 wins per day. You get a relatively competitive deck when you start playing the game/when you come back. There are still some cheap aggro decks like it was the case in the beginning. The core set is way better then the classic set was power level wise. At least some Bad cards get buffs now instead of just staying unplayable. The list can be continued. Sure, if you want to play 20000 dust reno priest in wild with no cards to start with it’s expensive. But less so then some time ago, where the only free cards were the basic set containing not a single legendary…
Stealing? What a joke OP. What a joke. Who is stealing from whom? Are they reaching in to your bank accounts and taking your money? No. They are a game company doing what every OTHER multi-player based game seems to be doing these days. Setting up a a premium currency to buy their products with. It wasn't stealing when you paid with a debit/credit card straight up, right? So how is this any different then there being an intermediary via Runestones?
