"mercenaries quest takes only 7 minutes" - maybe if you've already played that crap and have a bunch of leveled up characters.
They really don't take long and generally all mercenaries quests are easy to do.
However, you shouldn't be forced to do quests unrelated to Hearthstone to get Hearthstone resources. Battlegrounds falls under the same criteria but nobody complains because people actually love the mode, yet they should complain about that, too.
Why shouldn't you be forced to do quests unrelated to Hearthstone to get Hearthstone resources?
Just because Mercenaries packs have no value, and you can do Mercenaries quests in Mercenaries game mode. On my Asia server I didn't bother leveling up a single merc, so I cannot complete any of the quests. The fact that it's part of a chain of rewards makes it much worse. It can interrupt the chain for many players who have never had an interest in it.
it hasnt gotten worse, cough up half of your reward track bonuses then we can compare, devs said with the addition of track rewards yearly events will not be as generous as before, they literally said that so next time do some research before going on a boohoo rant on the forums :)

Explain how it can interrupt the quest chain when u can easily complete the first bountie Quillboar on normal with the free mercs. Even if ur mercs are lvl 1 they will be lvl 5 after the first bounty, then the repeats of the first bounty Will be even faster. All im hearing are PPL that have zéro Idea of what their r talking about.

Sure, you don't like Mercs, I get that. I don't like it either.
My question was less about whether or not OP wanted to play Mercs and more about the words "shouldn't" and "forced."
Quest chains that require you to play Mercs for 10 or 15 minutes (I don't know which figure is correct) are, obviously, intended to get you to try Mercs. I don't think this was ever a secret.
They're not obliged to give you any packs for free. If they wanted to do that purely as a goodwill gesture they could just stick the in-game currency straight into your account.
You're free to not do it, but you're refusing to do task that requires little time and no money, even though you do want the reward they're offering you for doing it. Which, again, is totally your call. But complaining that you didn't get the reward for the task you refused to do and that Blizzard are mean for trying to force you to play their game for free by offering you a free prize looks a bit... unreasonable, to me. That's childhood tantrum logic.
I don't play much these days and I stopped doing Tavern brawl over a year ago because I was finding it a chore. That means I get fewer packs. That's on me.
This community has the memory span of a goldfish...
When the rewards track was (very poorly) announced they said that there would be lots of events with extra loot for the players. However some people were concerned about the amount of rewards from the new system and that is when some YouTubers exploited their viewerbase by making unfounded claims that the new system was supposedly "much worse for everyone". After the backlash for the supposed reduced rewards, they integrated all the rewards from the extra stuff into the track so that people would stop raging.
So to recap, because of their very poor communication skills they ended up having all of the rewards on the reward track and having no room for extras.
I suppose the whole point with the fire festival is to make people play over summer. Maybe the weather is shitty world wide, maybe they don't need more to keep people inside playing.
Personally I don't feel the NEED for more rewards. The track was exactly made to give solid value all year. It feels pretty anticlimactic thou. People who remembers the first years may have looked forward to it and the team could easily have shined it up with a bunch of old packs or golden cards.
I love how most of the comments are like: "How dare they make us play the game to get the rewards?!". I mean, what kind of attitude even is that. Obviously, the rewards getting worse every year is a valid argument, but most of this whining is just annoying to read. At this point even if Blizzard gave everyone 100 packs for free, there would still be many players whining how they got scammed, because they have to open these packs to get the cards. Come on guys, it's just a video game. If you don't want to play it, you don't have to.
Bg's was already a stretch but i did that, even though it was boring. But mercenaries? no thanks, deleted the quest. I play this game for constructed HS and the occasional arena, not to play a glorified slots simulator or a terrible Gacha game.

Because people who don't play mercenaries don't want to play it. Simple. If you ask people to do 12 pointless fights in a dead game mode they don't want to play just to unlock a quest for a standard pack, it's just bad design. You can have mercs quests, but keep them in the mercs submenu for the 12 people who play the mode, or at least have the step skippable, and not break the entire chain. It was painful enough to siut through the tutorial on my main, don't want to repeat the process on my second account, and many people are in the same position.

Well it‘s the same for me with duells. I hate this mode and don‘t wanna play it. I was glad they didn‘t force me to play it this time. I use Mercenaries for some dailies like play 10 … spells to be honest. It is way faster then playing the other modes.
Yeah, duels/arena/bgs quests are also annoying when part of a chain. But at least the gameplay is somehow relevant to constructed, As for Mercenaries, they are their own terrible pokemon clone. They also have their own quest board, so what is an exclusively mercs promotional quest doing in the main quest tavern?
What I find most confusing about Blizzard's atitude to additional gold, is that the free gold would really result in nothing, or the equivalent of nothing for most players. The whole system is designed so that everyone ends up with the whole lot of rares each set, a few epics, and a smattering of the available legendaries. Taking away 500 gold or whatever from an event doesn't hurt their bottom line, because that 500 gold results in nothing very little...maybe one extra epic.
The only logic I can see to it, is perhaps they worry it might make people realise that a few extra free packs makes really no difference to their situation, so therefore purchasing a few extra packs, as many do from time to time, makes no difference either.
Since they removed the randomness of the packs (not complaining exactly, it just is what it is) the entire playerbase is just sat there with their bowls held out, waiting for their standardised delivery of gruel, that they will get, without fail. It's never enough, and many always ask for more, and yet at the same time it is enough, as 95% of the playerbase is in the same situation. Honestly at this point they could do away with the gold system/reward track and just give all players all rares, and let them pick a couple of legendaries of their choice... same result.

I do know this though. It's boring.
So they've added a bunch of gold sink mechanics into the game but for no real reason, cause gold is irrelevant?
If you want to play more than one game mode the extra gold can be the difference between having battlegrounds perks or not, playing casual or competitive duels, having access to the mini set or not, etc.
I don't believe for a single second that their marketing team didn't analyze this through and through and made the call that giving out 'locked goodies' instead of free spendable gold increases revenue.

Yeah.. ever since the rewards tracker released, it was VERY obvious that accumulating gold would take excessively longer. Sure, you get more gold at the beginning of the rewards tracker than the previous system of 80/100/150 gold quests, but from level 20/30 onwards, you get less and less gold, exponentially. Instead of getting 80-150g a day, you're getting a maximum 50g per day.
On top of that, the annual events have been seeing less and less rewards, and pushing quests that no one gives a fuck about. I only play standard and the occasional tavern brawl, with Arena rarely depending on what quests I have. Battlegrounds, I just launch and do something else. Mercenaries, I have to brainlessly attack, but I have to be their, which is annoying. I had way more fun actively trying to complete relevant quests, than what I'm doing today. It's boring tbh.
To give perspective, when I first started playing, when a new set is released, I'd have around 6k-8k gold saved up. Over the years it got less and less, especially with the rewards tracker. Now I can barely get just above 2k, as the miniset takes away 2k, and I play this game religiously, completing all weeklies and optimizing dailies.
Though, at least Tavern Brawl gives you standard packs now weekly, with the rare current set pack.
You had to play a lot of hearthstone to get 80-150 gold a day. The dailies gave 50-60 on average. You had to win 12 games to get 40 more gold than that (so 90-100 a day IF you played that much). And there were no weekly quests either (which give about 100 gold each on average). If you won 30 games, you'd get 150-ish gold a day I guess. But I don't think that was the amount the average player was getting.
I have a lot more gold under the new system than I did under the old one personally. But I probably don't play as much as others do.
It seems to me like this year's festival is more focused on cosmetic rewards, which is... unfortunate, but honestly for me, at this point in the game I'm sitting on a pretty big stack of gold and don't really... need packs.
I can't relate. I have every card in Standard. Perhaps if I could get packs for Wild that would be best.
Do you like Hearthstone? Come watch Tavern Lads!
I miss the double gold days, too.
Was a great feeling the hole time of the event. But now all is done in about 2-3 hours.
Doesn‘t feel like a real event. Just some extra quests. What it sadly is indeed.
Imagine 2x exp. Bli$$ard is getting way worse

Depends on what you are looking for. I personally value the unique skins higher than some extra gold/dust.

Event rewards were moved to the Rewards Track.
This is what I did, well I think it was actually the 3rd or 4th one but still super easy if you have leveled up your guys at all.
