Kind of salty, but im just really tired of this madness. Why cant blizzard make builds viable via idk.. good, overall cards? Rn im looking at Clownfish So here is the thing. Murloc shaman was unplayable garbage. They wanted him to be viable. sure i dont mind facing murloc shaman on ladder. But why the hell they hade to make it viable via suuuper high-rolling card. Turn 1 tidecaller into t2 coin clownfish x2 lushwater mercenary. GG BETTER PLAYER WON. I would rather see 2 mana 5/5 murloc than this highrolly shit. If they dont draw clownfish, their deck sucks. But if they do and have 2 murlocs to follow it means they are better players. Tidelost Burrower is great addition to the deck and it doesnt make u feel like shit when losing to it And it's pretty much the same with Chum Bucket deck is garbage if u dont draw it early enough. I hate aggro/mid decks that rely on drawing one specific card, otherwise their winrate is 15%. They are much much worse than combo decks that also rely on drawing specific cards, but their deck is designed to do so. Also Incanter's Flow. Deck was garbage if they didnt drew it early. And i know there are many other cards like them. Can't recall them now tho. It feels like blizzard balancing team is just super lazy and instead of brain-storming good cards/buffs they just add some high-rolly shit that will rise deck winratio but still leave the same problem - u dont draw one specific card, your deck sucks
they just wanna make the game fast, highrolley and no-planning-required so that it can become more of a mobile game. thats their consumer target nowadays so yeah...
The problem is that Blizzard often don't plan ahead. Murloc Shaman had almost no support going into the mini-set, so the only way to push it into viability was through busted cards.
The only solution is to plan ahead and release cards more gradually, if Murloc Shaman had been even a tier 3 deck then a card as strong as Clownfish wouldn't have been needed.
Another issue is that Blizzard is trying to cater to more decks than ever. For example originally Warrior was a pure control class, now it's also an aggro class. Hunter used to only be aggro/midrange, now it's also a control/combo class. Rogue used to be all about combo, now it's also aggro and midrange. Blizzard tries to support all of these strategies and there's just not enough cards to go around, so the only way to make everyone happy is to give everyone a small amount of nutty cards each expansion.
The original game has Died since the left of old devs that worked with Ben Brode. Now it's just a bunch of hipsters and alt ppl ruining the game like they are doing in League of legends and any game that has micro transactions in general. Don't bother, go do something better in your life if u start to become salty with this trash game. it's a very very different game nowadays. I just stick with wild here and there, get legend sometimes with some new broken stuff and get off of the game, is very toxic in general. if u don't buy x card u lose, cause there are lots of broken stuff and incompetent devs to address the issue. Be more happy, find a course, a job, a career and get out of this hell circle of life
You look for balance where the "main" mode, standard ladder, is the 3rd worst mode in the game. It's 3rd just because mercs exists and because classic has yet to be updated with another set, which would instantly shoot it higher.
Two options - play wild if you're that hungry for that meaningless achievement of legend (it actually HAD meaning once), or

I hate to break this to you but HS was a mobile developed game first and then a PC game second.
I agree with your overall point though. Combo decks are my all time favorite and most are unplayable on mobile. That and the old infinite druid/warrior decks that took opponents turns due to animations. Lmao.
At OP murloc Shaman has always been a good deck and fast on ladder before this card. Don't kid yourself. Agro is a staple in all TCGs and so are hirolls. You win some you lose some.
If you really think HS is bad try Yugioh now that's some degenerate play right there.
I'm climbing ladder right now with a midrange naga quest priest and having lots of controlling style games against hunters and warriors. And fast games against mages and rogues. You get what you play and play what you get.
It is a fair point, forcing a high-powered card like clownfish might shore up the archetype a bit FOR NOW, but it could easily become broken as soon as a bit more synergy OR consistency gets thrown in with follow-up sets or mini sets. Does seem like a gamble, design-wise. To be fair, the minisets are fleshed out long ahead of time, not like they're tailored 100% to the meta present at their launch.
I do hate persistent mana cheats a lot tho, discounting hand OR saving discounts past the current turn like clownfish seems like a bad idea.
Same can apply to Hero Cards, they are almost auto include in every deck. I had to craft severals of them just for the sake of having this mandatory huge swing.
I really don’t like this new way of balance. I find it hard to create decks out of the ones the team wants to be competitive.

NO, one of the best hunter decks in classic was control hunter. also pirate warrior has been around for a long time.
Another pointless salty thread.
