I've been here since the very conception of this game and this has to be the best thread I've have ever had the pleasure to lay my eyes on. It's the one the reaches insanity the furthest. A fine critique of capitalist society spawned from blame shifting to the company the fact that you don't have a niche legendary card that you really want, but don't have the means(yet!) by calling it p2w(and it is not)
Why are we discussing the différence between communism and capitalism on a digital card game?
Also the use of the Word 'fair' by OP seems odd since there isnt any 'fair' card game that exist. There will always be RNG BS that shifts a game in one direction or another. Yogg is 1 of the best example of this.
Also if u think not owning Finley is problematic imagine us who dont have Cariel and r playing against her. We dont complain about it, we deal with it.
i was about to say "difference with Cariel is that you cant buy her" but since you can buy legendaries directly (lol) or golden pack to craft her... even RNG does not make it fair while its supposed to be.
i guess HS is def into P2W genre, thats the critic it receives regarding new players (pay2play as well) and i must say its def true.
Replacing those who spend the most money on the game with those with most free time to grind stuff doesn't really sound like a surefire way to make an equal and fair environment. Some people spend time and others spend money. I personally spend both, in varying amounts depending on my interest. If someone wants to throw crazy amounts of money at the game so they don't need to grind and have instant gratification, that's ok. If someone wants to play 10 hours a day and get all the cards I do without spending a cent on the tavern pass, that's fine too. It doesn't detract from my experience, since I have found my own medium and am happy with it.
Bro, once you understand that time = money, you will probably get less butthurt. You can literally get the tavern pass in 1-2 hours of your work (in most developed countries) instead of grinding several hours as F2P.
I'm playing since 2014 and probably "invested" over $2-3K - mostly on pre-orders and packs in past. Now we get a tavern pass which is the best value for money ever since in this game and it's overall so much easier for new or returning players to get relevant decks without paying a single cent.
I'm spending less money on Heathstone recently - skipped probably 2 expansion pre-orders, not buying packs with real money anymore and I'm still able to have almost any deck I want. But this expansion actually got me hyped and I bought a pre-order and I'm not regretting it.
Try Battlegrounds mode if you want to play for free, as there is no need to have any cards and the only downside is that you get to pick 2 heroes at the start instead of 4 heroes. And even if you decide to buy the Battleground pass, you can buy it with 2000 gold and by the time the next expansion comes, you will definitely have another 2000 gold from playing regularly (but still just for fun - no grinding).
If anything Hearthstone is not a P2W CCG as you have means to unlock cards by investing time into the game. Take MTG for example, your only chance to have a competitive deck is by paying real money. Don't play CCGs if you can't deal with the system.
Hearthstone is digital, so you don't have physical copies of your collection but in the age of BTC it shouldn't bother people too much.
And as others have pointed it out, the BP is ridiculously good value for your money. I don't think the regional equivalent of £16.99 (which is £4.25 a month) is a harsh paywall.

15 EUR is not a paywall. thats for the principle.
time is money ... with such principle 95% of your lifetime brain computing power is used on making money. what a waste.

If you would invest your time to making money instead of commenting on this website, you would have your Tavern Pass already :D
