When Blizz sold me 130€ pre-order for mercenaries, without fixing it. Then I started feeling really screwed.
This was for me the biggest turning point. If the game company that I pay in order to have fun fuck me it is not fun anymore.
Lol that was 100% your own fault for pre-purchasing content u knew nothing about. U essentially bought a promise that wasnt at ur personnel subjectif standard.

Sorry but no. Has HS duplicate protection? Pity timer? Use of the resources that we don't need with dust?
Yes. So why Mercenaries should not have them?
I purchased because I had faith in the games of the company that I am playing since I am kid. You know how much is 130€? The cost of 3 Triple A. It is a lot in the game industry. What Blizz offers us for this price? Shit. So how can you say that this is a consumer's fault? This a company policy to screw consumers. My turning point.
Blizz changed. This was not acceptable before. They are thieves now.
Barrens wasn't perfect but it all started going downhill with stormwind. I never felt as bad about the game until then. I believe this expansion is a step in the right direction though and rotation will help massively so it's not all doom and gloom. I won't shit on the game until I feel it truly has gone too far down unlike some people here
I think it was when ben brode quit, like after gadgetzen the expansions became worse and worse.
I personally didn't like him too much. But I have to admit that after him the game went in shit. Always always down in quality. HS was far better with Brode. We had the biggest idea with him.
The only time I ever thought, "this isn't fun, and I don't want to play anymore," because of the game itself (as opposed to just getting bored) was during Knights of the Frozen Throne. I think I was a mostly f2p player at that point, and I remember thinking, "this is stupid. Anyone that has the hero card wins. Anyone that doesn't loses." That was the first expansion with hero cards for every class. I suppose I could've just aggro'd them down, but it wasn't my style, so I got frustrated. I didn't quit though, and have had ebbs and flows in my interest level. Still f2p though. I don't mind not getting higher than gold 5 on ladder.
I think Hearthstone is still fun. The problem is some people take it too seriously when it is just a game (and I used to be guilty of doing such a thing in the past).
Ok, ok, I'm not going to deny that it could be better, but we are talking about a video game that was released 8 years ago.
In most situations, Mr. Smite is just a Leroy. I'm most decks where he's run, e.g. buff paladin, there are no other pirates that he can grant charge. Only in quest warrior does he do anything really impressive, and that is usually when he's randomly summoned.
Mr. Smite is not really a problem. He's just a glorified fireball.
I JUST came back about a month ago after leaving a little over 3 years ago. But already I've found it's a cesspool of OTK decks. I HATE "I win" cards/combos and right now this game is littered with them. The priest who can hold on then OTK, the shaman who can freeze to delay and delay and OTK, the warlock...and the WORST of them all Kazakusan. That card is WAY overpowered even with them nerfing it!
NOTHING feels worse then outplaying your opponent. Heck for example the other day I was sitting with 30 health and 48 armor! Got OTK from a Shaman from never ending 0 spell for 4 damage cast a billion times! Stuff like that SHOULDN'T happen!
when the deckbuilding became a braindead-easy thing in this game. the meta is like already determined at the day1.
they should lower the power level of synergistic cards.
think of the old hearthstone. handlock, miracle rogue, midrange decks, etc. all those decks did not come out day1, people played with cards more and more, and experimented with different play tactics. then a strategy came through. a deck was born then.
however, nowadays most decks are pre-determined even before the expansion is out. Quest decks, pirate decks, libram decks, handbuff decks, etc they all are super easy to put together. no need to brainstorm at all. just search "pirate" and put almost every card and you are ready. search "libram" and you are ready. this is dumb. destroys creativity and makes players only play with stratagies that are preset by a company.
I can only wish they let the playerbase find the best combos and synergies on their own. But no, really dont think so. Because if they control the meta, they can basically control the sales. if they create some new crazy strategy, they know what you need to have in your collection to play with those strong decks.
When, as a mobile player, battlegrounds became nearly unplayable because of the lag, freezing and crashing on mobile. By far my favorite mode other than traditional and it has gotten a little (little, little) better so I can at least struggle through loosing 15-30 seconds a turn, on average. Obviously can not play apm builds at all (wasn't very good at them to begin with so🤷).
That's all to say late 2020 is when it got unbearable for me.
Honestly? Probably some time between Karazhan and Knights of the Frozen Throne.
Karazhan denotes a wild step up in RNG and a lack of willingness by the devs to implement promised game modes (remember tournament mode being promised? Well the closest we got was Heroic Tavern Brawl... which was terrible for the normal Brawl playerbase)
Meanwhile, Knights denotes a wild step up in class power disparity, one which we still kind of haven't recovered from (see also the "A History of Official Meta Snapshots" for more clarity)
Went all Downhill the moment the entity of Greed (Buttsmell Bobby and Company) took over.
Compare the reasonable HS Shop section of 2014-2018 to what you see nowadays, and you'll find yourself in the Circus we have nowadays.
I'am not even concerned about the State of the Game as much as I'am about the State of abusing old and new players.
Activi$ion are pure Leeches feeding off on the Addiction of HS Nerds and forcing to spent insane amounts of money on Microtransactions, and that's all there is to say about the sad, sad State of Hearthstone, really.

If Mr. Smite gets banned, which it should, we could in for an insane year.
But I made a post about this already. The warrior colossal minion, with how common smite will be discovered, is going to ruin launch day. Still calling it now.
My personal turning point was Ashes of Outland. I had become disillusioned with standard. I took my first lengthy break from the game. I wasn't sure if I would return, or if I did for very long despite having a large & healthy collection.
Thankfully we got Duels which saved my interest in Hearthstone. Duels has been my main mode ever since and the reason I keep this game installed.
When the 3 expansions that are rotating were in standard.
Excessive draw, global mana reduction, reneging on the Leroy type burst from hand. Combos were specifically printed to OTK on turn 8 or earlier.
IDK if power level is the issue. Frozen Throne was awesome even with Raza Priest. Cause Raza Priest was not online turn 6 like the combo stuff is now. Hearthstone will be great again with draw that isn't insane, cards need to cost appropriate mana. I think Hearthstone is really close to being great again with these 3 expansions leaving standard.
I think this comment sums it up for me. The excessive card draw has really taken a lot of strategy out of the game.
Yes. I also don't see the issue with card draw. Probably most of the people don't like it because with high card draw means less time to find the combo to OTK the opponent. But these are two separate issues.
When Blizz sold me 130€ pre-order for mercenaries, without fixing it. Then I started feeling really screwed.
This was for me the biggest turning point. If the game company that I pay in order to have fun fuck me it is not fun anymore. My pocket will be closed forever for Blizz, at least I don't see astonishing thing.
thats me, i didnt spent more then a battlepass since 2016 and mercinaries gave me so much hype... and then there is not even duplicate protection for coins???

Just kidding. :P

Hearthstone is fine. People suck the fun out of card games by playing only the absolutely strongest meta decks.

I think that the main issue with this guy is that is also so costly to kick him out. Even though things about him in the newspapers are very heavy.

Out top decking your opponent isn't strategy. Card draw helps strategy
