I’m curious what other people think. I think they have shown that they don’t have a problem strongly supporting decks like quest hunter. Which I feel is going to set the stage for non-interactive decks to flourish.
It's looking to me like OTK/burn will continue to dominate, but there are quite a few different cards being released too. It could all change if they'd bring in some cards like Dirty Rat or Loatheb, since those really punish heavily spell-based decks.
They need to take care of Shaman, it's an out of control class and they keep supporting it, Highly OTK potential with the new Bioluminescence and Bracing Cold and non-interactive stuff with the freezing effects.
Also, im almost sure the Shaman Colossal will be a Spell damage minion.
Heavily doubt it unless they change the Core set heavily..
From the cards revealed so far, Aggro Token seems to be still dominating along with Control-ish OTK Combo Burn decks... giving no room for board-based Midrange decks
DH: potential for midrange Deathrattle/Rush decks, but if failed, will go back to OTK Quest decks...
Druid: same old Rush Tokens and Aggro Beast decks
Hunter: same old Face Hunter and Quest Hunter
Mage: potential for midrange Mech decks, but if failed, will go back to Wildfire Hero Power / Hero Mage decks...
Paladin: potential for midrange handbuff Holy/Elemental Taunt decks, Im not sure which other directions it can go
Priest: probably Spell-based Tempo Minion decks, but that has never been successful, will prob go back to Aggro Shadow or Quest/Deathrattle decks
Rogue: potential midrange/tempo Pirate decks, but if failed, will go back to some kind of Miracle / Thief Rogue
Shaman: most likely OTK Burn Freeze deck because none of its tools is leaving
Warlock: uncertain, only 2 cards are revealed... not sure if Quest / Handlock Warlock can still carry on after the rotation
Warrior: prob midrange Quest Pirate decks again with some late-game values...
I think that the main question is if we believe (like now) that it is a good expansion and it is worthing of the pre-purchase.
Short answer: No.
Long answer: If the game is board-based or not I think it is quite a general question. Anyway, quest hunter seems very strong (maybe with Nagas, and not only the Face Naga) and the priest mass removal is not encouraging a board based game. The issue for me is in the design and the idea, as always. I have generally appreciated (and I am appreciating) the effort in this expansion but we are very far from what I would like to see. The expansion, for now, is not bold. Anyway, there are more ideas in this expansion than we have seen in the past expansions, but it is still not sufficient for me.
Colossal is a new keyword and it is interesting (even though limited because of its nature, it is in all high-cost minions, therefore if the meta is/will be fast no Colossal will be played)
Dredge is a non-keyword because it is simply a discovery from the bottom of the deck
There are some cool new cards with new mechanics but it is still not sufficient
Overall, considering the loss of interest in this game, and considering the price of the pre-purchase, I would like to see much much more in order to justify this expense. So, for now, there is no justification. We will see at the end of the release.
I mean OTK and burn decks aren't really that dominant now. Aggro decks are, and those are taking a huge hit from rotation. Quest Hunter is a combo/burn deck, but it's really not that uninteractive, you can outheal or out armor it's damage fairly simply if you know what you're doing. Will the new tools it's getting throw that off? Maybe, but a lot of those are minions and make the deck slower and more interactive anyway.
Priest has a lot of card draw, but priest also... doesn't really have combos from hand. Mage is losing a lot of card draw as is Warlock.
So I guess if your question is, will OTK and combo decks continue to be uncounterable by control and midrange? No, I don't think so.
Will OTK and combo decks continue to be fairly strong and intense match-ups FOR control and midrange decks? Then yes.
But honestly literally every deck I've seen complained about lately is taking a hit. Face Hunter, Kazakus druid, Kazakus priest, Pirate Warrior.
First of all rotation and core set change coming up, which means none of the current good decks will be same or will even exist after rotation. So it would be really unfair to assume current decks will keep dominating the meta.. We can't know for sure yet but hs developers said they want to implement more more based cards and more board based gameplay this year, we will see...
Blizz should just admit defeat with the quests, rotate them early and refund everyone the dust. They were the worst thing to happen to the game since Baku/Genn and not much will change with them still around.

The two most degenerate quests (Warlock & Mage) are getting hardcore nerfed by the set rotation (so far). Why would they rotate them?

Bruh Loatheb is the ultimate aggro denial/lockout tool against removal, have you not seen enough of Cult Neophyte?!! Aggro becomes a larger problem if Loatheb is around…

That's the point... Guess which type of deck runs the most removal and no taunts, rush, etc. Hint: it's not board-centric decks.

Another degenerate quest is Hunter, and it looks like they are still supporting it hard with this expansion.

So u want an aggro meta with 20 IQ plays…
Sorry but i rather have back and forth aggro/midrange meta than uninteractive race to busted Kazakusan , boring as hell removal only do nothing for the entire game Control or OTK decks that just kill you from hand when you least expect it and there's nothing you can do. (I did a quick search and realized that these are your favorites, unlike you I will not try to offend anyone who likes this style because I think they are necessary in the game, all archetypes are as long as they are balanced)

There is some effort with this expansion, incentivising spell-heavy decks to run more minions such as Nagas. Things might improve but I worry about Shaman (and it's a class I play a lot of), just looking at the released cards and I think there is a burn OTK in there again. Perhaps there needs to be, 1. not all players like to play for board exclusively, 2. these types of decks keep some decks in check but suffer against others (try to win with Burn Shaman against Ramp Druid, for example). I do not like rock/paper/scissor (polarised) meta and I hope that incentivising a good mix of minions and spells will help alleviate that somewhat. We will only know for sure after 12 April.
Looks like a no to me dawg.

I wish they would bring Lorewalker Cho back to standard. That card could have made a difference for the latest spell heavy meta.

So much hate for quests, even tho most are not even competitive anymore. At least wait for rotation before going on a riot.
Just consider each quest for balance on its own, asking for all of them to rotate seems way too broad a reaction.

If quest line are still in then no if there are new cards to counter the quest yes .
