If the point was to start playing dragons, there would be other, better dragons. If you are playing this like elysiana, then you are missing the point of upgraded tools and fatigue isn’t an option anymore. Control decks are no longer boom warrior elysiana. I stand by it, the treasures aren’t OP because of the conditions to meet it and their variance. Embers of rag and locusts hit like a truck, but if you let kaz decks go that far, that’s what happens. The other treasures are highly situational, with some costing a ton of mana and not winning. They shouldn’t touch this card and if you are having trouble playing against it, change your strategy. There is finally a control deck that is relevant, Hunter isn’t going to work.
The point of Elysiana was to be an anti-fatigue tech, not to prolong the game almost indefinitely (otherwise they'd not have bumped it to 9 mana).. Many times before have devs overlooked stuff and cards ended up not being used for their intended purposes, I believe Kaz is another such case.
Also the bolded sentence is just.. WTF? Bolner/Quest Shaman? Ramp Druid? Questlock? Fel DH? Those were all relevant control decks seeing play b4 the miniset..
Bolner/Quest Shaman and FelDH and Questlock are all OTK Combo decks, not Control decks.... They try to control the board but their win conditions is to kill the opponent in 1-2 shots by turn 8-10 with their Burn Spells (Shaman), Hero Attk (DH), and stupid fatigue (Questlock)... Former control decks use big minions and their board for the win conditions. Only Ramp Druid is the closest to that.
Eh the only issue I see with it is the obnoxious face damage cards. Book of the dead is questionable, but locusts is outright horrible. The fact that it does 14 damage to the face and then your opponent has to deal with the 2/2 board, AND somehow gain health to survive the next wave and recover is just stupid, especially since there's two of them in the deck. Removing locusts ability to target the face would be a good first step imo. When you get a deck of locusts, book of the dead, ragnaros embers etc the level of face output is something no standard deck can deal with.
Unless you play face hunter/pirate warrior and just kill people on turn 6.

Its 2022 man, that definition of control doesnt apply to HS anymore, its changed. Nowadays every control deck has something to close out games instantly if the game goes long enough, the difference being that they dont need that to win the game every match, its more of a plan B.
Mozaki Mage is a combo deck, why? Cuz it must draw its key pieces and perform the combo every match in order to win, theres no plan B.
The decks I mentioned all fall in the control category. Questlock kills you with big boards way more often than with combo dmg. Same with Bolner/Quest Shaman. Fel DH cant even perform the Kurtrus otk every match, so they burn you down with fel spells instead.
By your definition quest priest is a combo deck, cuz they can win by completing the quest and kill the opponent in one shot..
I can’t even begin to think about what might be a good change to this card’s meechanics when Locusts is in the pool of treasures. It needs to go, and once it’s removed we can talk about what other tweaks it may need.
Id be super chill about Kaz if all means to tutor it would rotate in April, but Capture Coldtooth Mine is staying. Druid will always have ramp cuz its part of their class identity, being able to tutor Kaz in the same class that can play it 1 or 2 turns earlier is just too insane to see no changes in the long run imo.
At the very least they will remove the twinspell keyword from Locusts, cuz at the moment the card reads "win the game over two turns".
I've been playing a Demon Hunter Kazakusan deck and don't find Locusts to be one of the stronger cards. Dealing 7 to all characters for 0 mana usually feels a lot more powerful to me.
Anyway, Kazakusan might be the card that's pushed druid over the edge of being OP, but their ramp and draw abilities are what brought them to the precipice.
I think games are feeling unfair to many players right now because of the amount of mana cheating and card draw that almost all decks have. Pretty much every class is "unfair" to play against at this point because they all can greatly reduce the costs of their cards and/or hero powers.
Kazakusan Should be removed from the game! Such a stupid card.. druidstone !!! Playing 3 of the 7 dmg spell in one turn is stupid, followed by double 8 dmg and freeze to face the turn after… OP!!! Hope they nerf it, or i really hope we Can come up with a counter to this madness
Your suggestion makes no sense as any kazakusan deck only runs dragons. But I remember people used to whine about highlander cards for the very same reason. Funny enough the devs never changed the condition and do you understand why? Shuffle 2 copies of a card into your opponent's deck and their highlander cards are useless. There was no reason to change the condition just to stop those 2 off meta decks that drew 30 cards in 10 turns and had zephrys active meanwhile the actual strong highlander decks would've got a huge buff. The same story with kazakusan, shuffle one minion that's not a dragon into your opponent's deck and watch them hold a dead card in hand. I know it's not currently possible in standard and if kazakusan becomes problematic I can see the devs bringing back Bad Luck Albatross or print another card that shuffles minions into opponent's decks. So instead of complaining about cards that were released not even one week ago, how about you enjoy a meta that is not hyper aggressive and wait until rotation?

Im not familiar with any DH Kazakusan decklists but i’m gonna assume that Locusts would actually come down closer to turn 10 with that deck, which is fair in comparison to what Druids are pulling off. I frankly don’t think Kazakusan is an oppressive card in any class except Druid right now, so if they got the Rogue treatment the next round of nerfs i’d be happy to see that as well
What about replacing/converting every dragon in the deck into a treasure (discovering each one), being 10 the maximum amount of treasures.
This way you cannot play it again. And also you going to need to have plenty of dragons in the deck.
I don't really see how that effect would be beneficial at all. There aren't a lot of dragons you want to put in your deck that you are going to later want to replace even with the treasures. It would only work if there were some kind of agro dragon deck playing cheap dragons.
As to Druid, the problem isn't even Kazakusan. It's that Druid can reliably draw their whole deck. With rational card draw, Kazakusan probably isn't busted. But there's a million and a half draw cards.
To the extent this is even a problem. We've had meta after meta where there's been no hope for grinder decks. We now have a grinder meta. This is the best Hearthstone has been in like two years. The game isn't braindead aggro and non-interactive OTK for once. Time to actually enjoy it for a while.
Don't want to play long grinder games? Just queue aggro and be prepared to bottom-right when you know you won't have the reach.
The biggest mistake the HS design team made was eliminating grinder decks in favor of active win conditions. We got so many toxic OTK decks that didn't care what the opponent did, most notably in the Stormwind Meta. Instead, they ought to have taught folks to understand when a game is lost before being reduced to 0 life.
The meta you’re talking about doesn’t actually exist. Looking at the most effective Kazakusan decks out right now, when does their boss card come down? Out of all the games i’ve been playing, the average is turn 5 and the latest is turn 6 (just saw someone summon it on turn 4 but i’ll chalk it up to them drawing the nuts). This deck would have had a good chance against unnerfed quest warlock and quest mage because it’s basically just as fast right now. I would categorize these new archetypes into same category of “brain dead” netdecks as what United in Stormwind had to offer at the time
As usual, the forums are filled with bad players crying for nerfs to a card that doesn't need nerfing yet. The nerf discussion can be had when rotation comes around, but until then, y'all should consider learning how to play the game and build decks that counter this strategy if you hate it so much. Because, you know, that is entirely possible.

To me, the card should read:
- if your starting deck contains at least X dragons, .... (so that the requirements are harder to met)
or
- ..., Replace cards in your deck with random treasures. (to make the treasures way less consistent)
or
- *remove locusts from the pool*

Im LOVING it right now. I'm 4k legend and climbing with spell druid. It does the make thames longer and more enjoyable so far.

Druid beats literally every other control deck except for some Shaman decks that can counter with Lightning Bloom + Mutanus.

I love Kazakusan druid actually. So many free wins for my burn shaman. Helped rank up a lot.
Sure, mindless people love mindless games. Play Kazakusan turn 5, win turn 6-7. Great games.
