I hope when the new expansion come out and they announce the many nerfs, that they touch up on some quest final rewards. I don’t think they all need to be 5 mana 8/8’s. And unless they make a quest disrupter, mutanus isn’t good enough. most quests can be finished pre turn seven and even if it’s post turn seven everyone (excluding priest, and some of the time DH) can finish the quest and play the reward turn 7+ so there is no chance to even stop it. I’m not saying mutanus is bad but it very very rarely works on and quest reward.
Guff is the only 8/8, the rest are 7/7. They also aren’t that relevant right now. Warlock sees play of course, shaman is decent, DH is okay for combo enabling, Rogue is meh, but Warrior, Priest, Paladin, Hunter, Mage, and Druid are bad. Did you lose to the only quest Druid on ladder and get salty?
I brought it up cause I read some info on doing large scale nerfs and rebalancing when the next expansion comes out for the new year.
I also didn’t say they all need nerfs. I just hate knowing that i can’t interact with anyones quest, and the only reason that is is “irrelevant” right now is that it’s a 80% pure aggro meta. Where you don’t get to turn 7 to even think about playing the mutanus you probably haven’t even drawn.
Do you believe they won’t support the quests at all with the next expansion?? Cause despite the current meta situation, you're probably going to say “why the hell is that pally quest reward a 7/7 for 5 mana and I can’t stop it” when they inevitably print supporting cards that gives pallys 6 dudes for 3 mana, or a new vine cleaver that’s a 2 cost 1/3 weapon summon 2 dudes each attack.
the problem isn’t today, it’s that these quests are in the standard game for at least 1 more year. When they get popular again, there needs to be something that interacts with the opponents quests cause mutanus can’t cut it when the rewards are 5 mana 7/7’s with game breaking effects that it, in practice, can’t even target.
Lol play diamond rank and every 2nd game is quest priest. Its not good but its also not fun to play against. Quest need to be removed, they are just not fun to ply against at all.
The meta currently isn’t pure aggro, it’s balanced and fairly diverse. There are competitive decks of each archetype right now, if you are queuing aggro decks, warlock, warrior and shaman have some great answers. If everyone at diamond is playing quest priest, then enjoy the wins with any deck that has inevitability built into it, quest priest is tier 4.
The quest lines won’t just be popular again without significant support. With the exception of demon seed, all of the questlines get outpaced and out powered by heroes and other strategies. There’s never nerfs at rotation because it such a huge change, especially with core changing. The last thing blizz needs to do is print a destroy opponent’s quest tech card, having a neutral tech card define a meta is never healthy.
Also, mutanus isn’t best utilized as anti-quest reward tech. Sure he can eat a quest reward, but that rarely happens once you hit platinum. Mutanus is like dirty rat, he’s anti-combo. You’ll lose plenty of games waiting to eat tamsin, but owl warlocks have a hard time coming back from him eating tamsin or the owl.

This is... not strictly true.
It's accurate for Standard, but standard isn't the only metric at play here.
In Wild, the only two* Questlines that see any play are Hunter and Warrior, and even then, post nerf they're not the dominant meta defining powerhouses, anymore, they're just... "kinda alright". I think the most recent stats I saw said they were at like... 50.1% winrate? Which is good enough to climb with, but not really anything outlandish.
Arguably, Warrior Questline is a problem in that it still has a massive representation, but it doesn't seem like a balance issue and more a "stale metagame" issue.
That basically points to the Questlines being... fine for the most part? Not really in dire need of nerfs, since their impact is felt, but is relatively minimal in both formats.
*There would be a third playable questline, if it weren't banned, and the fact that Warlock questline is banned is arguably grounds for some hardcore nerfs, but Blizzard seems reluctant to admit that questline in general was a mistake.
You know that there are other ways of beating quest decks than having Mutanus eat their reward. Like for example having a deck that has a specific plan and win condition and playing towards it (just like quest decks do)
I doubt they will do that immediately , rotation means a lot of card gone , new expansion means new cards in , but like every expansion they will look at it for few weeks before doing anything ^^
