At least once every expansion, after a round of nerfs, Hunter comes out on top. People want to talk about Blizz having favorites, but don't think Hunter gets special treatment.
Leave hunter alone, they only have 1 playable archetype... maybe stop playing beast cthun vandaar warlock with 10 late game win conditions if you want to win games.
I was watching a high legend streamer who commented that aggro archetypes (Taunt Druid, Elemental Shaman, Face Hunter) do well after nerfs because they’re taking advantage of people who are refining new decklists. Basically they’re farming free wins until other decks become efficient enough to squash them.
Personally speaking though, i just hate the way face hunter works. So many other decks have came and gone while Demon Companion and Intrepid Initiate turn 1 is still the foundation of damn near every game against these guys. Don’t even get me started on the Rhino.
Face Hunter absolutely gets special treatment. It's been Tier 1 or Tier 2 for months consecutive. No, it's not just unrefined metas, Face Hunter still escapes nerfs after the meta settles. No, it's not that it only has one viable archetype, because lots of classes get their only viable archetype nerfed. The only way to thoroughly read the past dozen Vicious Syndicate Data Reaper reports and not come to the conclusion that Team 5 has a bias in favor of Face Hunter, is to have the same bias yourself.
You need a good aggro deck to keep in check stupid solitary otk decks. Face Hunter is the perfect and much needed counter balance otherwise the meta would definitely be messed up.

Maybe half true, probably mostly false. Face Hunter was strong against Mozaki Mage and Poison Rogue pre-nerf, but that wasn't enough and the decks were nerfed anyway. Face Hunter has bad matchups against some OTK decks like Bolner OTK Shaman and Quest Lifesteal Demon Hunter.

Scavenger's Ingenuity, Kolkar Pack Runner, Irondeep Trogg... all found play in face hunter, and all were nerfed. And in wild, Rapid Fire got nerfed. No special treatment.
And if face hunter weren't a consistently strong deck over the last year, the class would have seen zero play. "Special treatment", to me, would not look like garbage legendaries (3-mana Tavish, Ichman) and uncompetitive archetypes (token, DR, big), in a meta where Blizzard consistently doubles-down on discount- and card draw shenanigans for repeat offenders like warlock, mage, rogue, druid, and demon hunter.

Good point... unless they get rid of the mana-discount mechanic, Aggro playstyle is always there to have the Combo/Midrange classes in check...
Face is almost always too strong, it always will be and hunter will always be the best or close to the best face deck. I just played a game where I removed every single minion the hunter played every turn without 1 hitting me in the face. Still died turn 7 just from hand damage and hero power. You only survive if you are a faster deck, which is hard to be, or you are one of the few classes that can add 50+ armor/healing. I don’t even have decks with 7-8-9-10 cost cards cause this game is almost always over turn 6-8.
But don’t worry there is no power creep or balancing problems in the game. /sarcasm.

I doubt they will ever get rid of mana-discount, its been a part of the game since its inception with Sorcerer's Apprentice. At most they might blunt it over time with more cards like Summoning Portal where cost reduction cannot dip below 1.

Hunter doesn't get any special treatment, it's just a cheap and fast aggro deck that can easily punish unrefined metas.
Throw things on the board, go face, press hero power.
You must not have played during Gadgetzan.

This. Fast aggro decks are always easier to figure out, most cards in their decks remain the same regardless the meta changes.
Slower Combo or Control decks take longer time because they need to assemble cards to deal with whatever meta figured out by those aggro decks.
