I dunno how everyone can keep saying this expansion is so weak when literally the entire meta has changed and practically every class has at least one new viable deck.
But ok yeah weak expansion cuz they saw Trumps review videos or something. Good sheep.

There are currently 17 decks above 50% winrate, 4 of them are new. The tier one decks have changed maybe 3 cards. Quest warrior isn’t running any new cards. Priest and mage don’t have viable decks. Deathrattle demon hunter, which isn’t new, is barely viable. Don’t be so edgy, the data is showing Blizz overtuned the questlines and as a result, Alterac is weak. It’s not a weak expansion on its own, but when placed next to stormwind, the strategies and cards just don’t hold up. Blizz is going to have to do something about the power level of stormwind or next year will see three weak expansions.
This is far from the "weakest" expansion and as someone who plays ccg's they could do a million times worse there is a lot I hate about balance from this set but knowing blizzard I have full faith it will be looked at then ignored so I'm happy

What questlines besides Warrior, Rogue and maybe Warlock are even seeing play?
Also the Warlock questline is taking a huge hit at rotation, and the Warrior quest is taking a significant one too.

I think instead of weakest, look at it as least impactful. This is a strong set, but stormwind was the most powerful expansion of hearthstone so there is little room for alterac to make an impact on the meta. We have to talk about KotFT and KnC to even come close to the power level of stormwind, and I think stormwind even beats them.

as a VERY common trait in card games overpowered sets happen and there not liked being de-leveled next set but that's better for the health of the game I'll take meh sets for a while as long as they can fix their kinks like the Owl/OTK and stuff making me feel like saying blizzard test cards is the biggest lie ever told.
I love dumb Jank combos but what we have aren't dumb combos their DUMB combos and just make you feel nasty playing and worse receiving it and that's unhealthy for the long haul like since the start it really seems like blizz just makes cards that make them go "Cool me like me are card maker cool card best card" then just let the players find these massive issues the game has after set launches and degenerate combos
Usually the last expansion of the year should make the most impact with the most powercreep (LoE, MSG, K&C, DOD, and MDF).... but this year of the Gryphon broke the tradition as they "accidentally" gave too much power/impact to UiS that it overshadowed FAV.....
There have been a few 2nd expansions that made the most impact, for example take Frozen Throne, and scholomance. Both of these sets defined the year, this one is defined by UiS as well. Just wait till the rotation maybe some of these cards will pick up after Scholomance and Darkmoon rotate
Half of the class sets (hunter, priest, DH, mage and warrior) are officially dead, not a single new class card being played in those classes. To correct the OP, this is not a weak expansion, but a VERY disappointing one.
My biggest disappointment was DH, I rly thought Kurtrus would make the class relevant, it didnt. And the reason is super depressing.
Kurtrus biggest selling point, the 26 dmg combo at turn 9 with Felfire and Performers requires your opponent to have a board, in other words, interaction.
I-N-T-E-R-A-C-T-I-O-N
A very powerful hero card, that can almost OTK your opponent from hand on turn 9 with only 2 cards sees zero play cuz it requires interaction with the opponent. If thats not a sign of how degenerate the game has become, I dont know what is.

Maybe the meta has changed in the past couple of days but I took big demon hunter to legend. That almost otk combo was a frequent way that I won the game.
Mage plays siphon mana, priest plays many cards from this expansion. Still even if other cards are not played now, they might find use in meta after rotation.

A lot (about half) of what I'm seeing is non-board decks - lock, mage, druid etc.. Also any combo that's requiring 10 mana is useless, since most of these decks will kill you before then. The rest are pallies, which are generally favourable but not enough to countact such a high amount of non-board decks. Also been bricking a fair chunk, but that's sketchy combo decks for you! (I'm not on big DH, rather something sketchier).
Also not much combo can do when devolving missiles hits a 1/8 chance to never hit the buffed trogg on T2.
It kinda seems Rastakhan's Rumble tier. Looking at previous 3rd-in-cycle expansions, Descent of Dragons had Galakrond, and Darkmoon Faire had corrupt and the new Old Gods, and both of those had what feels like a lot more of an impact on the game and the meta. Going back further, Kobolds and Catacombs just had a lot of strong cards. Rumble followed the potent Mechs of Boomsday, and the game-shaping Genn and Baku of Witchwood.
Alterac comes on the heels of Stormwind Questlines, and it just doesn't stack up. These questlines have got to be just about one of the worst card cycles Blizzard has made, since they've been very powerful, as well as very repetitive. Boring and predictable gameplay that often wins is just about one of the worst things for a card game. Blizzard had better rotate them early, like Genn and Baku (again, that combination of powerful with repetitive and predictable).
If the order had been flipped, Alterac as the 2nd expansion in the cycle, I think it'd probably have fared better. The hero cards are kind of interesting, but they aren't as game-winning as the questlines, so who cares?
All this discussion is fine until more people discover Freeze Shaman.
That deck will be the new cancer, forcing an entirely combo meta, since it destroys every board-centric strategy while being a burn/otk hybrid, therefore also beating slower control decks.
You people pay real money for a free game? Pfff, hahaha

This is not even close to the least impactful Hearthstone set. Not even close. And I wouldn't even say Stormwind was the strongest.

Sorry for semi rant

it's just the newest in peoples mind they don't recall when we DH came out a year ago or when we got the death knight hero's

The expansion is fine, the problem is Warlock, its healing and removal is out of control. Fix that we may have a game again.

its weak as hell, Pirate warrior still dominating this meta.......
