Hi, I have already claimed my season rewards, but would it be better next time to wait (when it falls within expansion release) when the new cards hit to get rares and epic?

Expansion release is never so close to the end of a season, it usually comes out on the second week of the month so no, waiting is a terrible idea. Getting some rares (which you should get every new rare if you open like 60-70 packs anyways I think) and 1 epic is not worth losing a week's worth of XP.
