So I’m playing since Blackrock, after a while i had a break, came back the expansion before ungoro and had a blast of time with HS. Ever since Ungoro i preordered every Expansion until Stormwind. Stormwind had some lazy cards, a boring Herocard and everything felt off, just like the meta nowadays, just like many many things, that are going in a wrong direction with HS, but still my heart tells me, that the new Expansion will be a blast of fun, somehow. The Herocards remind me of KOTFT and damn (!) that was a great time, a fun time. So now i‘m in a 1v1 with my heart and my brain. I need some other opinions and not just „hah you whale go spent money dumba$$“. No. I need some serious opinions.
I'm playing since Vanilla. Pre ordered every expansion. Just do the math. Was it worth it ? It was not. But now it's an addiction. Don't be me. Don't pre order.
stopped buying packs when they went to 3 expansions a year, never looked back, never felt bad about it. Giving this company money to develop more shit like mercenaries and reward team 5 for balance like DH and the quests is not something I want to do.
I only preordered once (Barrens) and I've played since beta. I'm also on the fence with this. I feel more psyched than usual on this expansion and the extra stuff might make me play a bit more mercenaries, but I also know that the joy/€ was higher for the battle pass and I also like to buy the smaller bundles during the season. Barrens had a terrible meta in the first weeks and the weather was too good, so maybe I've judged the preorder badly? I've got more cards from Storm wind just from playing so maybe these preorders don't do that much in the end?
I did preorders for every expansion between Whispers of Old Gods and Madness of Darkmoon Faire.
Until this year of the Gryphon, I have not done a single expansion preorder for neither FitB nor UiS. Why?
- lots of gold and dust collected since they revamped the Core set, card rotations, and the expansion tavern pass. I always have at least 15k of gold and 10k of dust before any expansion launch.
- no interests in any new hero portraits included in the preorder
- in my own gameplay experience, year of the Gryphon has been the worst one yet since the start of the Standard year.
Year of the Dragon - Mammoth were the best, Year of the Kraken - Raven - Phoenix were also good.
I usually preorder, but sometimes skip the December expansion due to Christmas and all the extra expenses for gifts etc. This will be one such year. I don't mind too much though - Warrior is my least played class, so I don't mind missing out on the portrait, and I have enough gold to open 160+ packs and dust enough to craft all the legendaries I want. I'll probably buy the tavern pass though, that shouldn't break the bank.
If you decide to preorder, the smaller bundle is IMO the better deal. If I was preordering, that's the one I would get.
I am going to mainly because I am low on dust -- I was able to pass on the last 2 expansions and only craft the cards I wanted for the archetypes that I play. Hopefully I will get the handful of cards I want and dust the rest after a month or so in case of nerfs.
How people keep pre order this game, even after this meta? How people can pay more then 100 euro without get the all expansion in hand? Blizzard knows how to take your money.
This will be the first expansion when I won’t pre-order or buy anything. I am not enjoying the game in its current state and doubt anything will change with the new set being added to the game, unless they reveal something that can slow down meta a little bit. Not a big fan of 2 minute games, so I’d rather play casuals or BGs
I've been weighing this exact decision. I've been playing since beta, have bought all preorders until now, and the meta is so absolutely dumpster fire in both Standard and Wild that I think I might be done. I think the power creep on cards has just hit an unsustainable level, and there's no course-correction for that like they kind of had with Rastakhan's Rumble, where it brought things back down to Earth for awhile.
And it isn't even about the financial costs for me, as that isn't a factor for me. It's more that I'm about done supporting this company financially for just how BLATANT their cash grabbing has gotten. I can't start the client without 13 more things dumped in the shop that I have to click on once so it stops displaying the "!". It's reaching that same frenzied, desperate pace they had with Heroes of the Storm towards the end, where they seem to think the interest is unending. It's just exhausting now...
At the risk of getting some "no one cares if you are done, blah blah" responses, that's how I'm seeing it. :-\
I'm actually kind of excited for the new cards, but... man, the cheap bundle is $70 CAD in the shop.
I just can't justify that right now...
I might go with the Tavern pass again, because I think I got good value out of during this current expansion. But that's probably going to be it this time.

If you've already broken your streak I don't see any special reason to preorder although I probably still will out of habit.
The new set has a lot of cool cards but I can see half of them being unplayable because they just die to quest warlock.

Just craft Cariel hero card and win the game.

I am not pre-ordering any more, if you play enough then all you need is the reward track I've noticed, you can farm the gold for the packs instead
"I come here for the salt and I stay.... for even more salt" - Me, 2022
Don't. It's becoming too expensive at this point, however I do suggest buying the Tavern Pass, so you can farm that Extra Gold.
Paladin and Mage are looking gorgous thus set, my two favorite classes, so I'm pre ordering
I normally pre-order both bundles. I am not pre-ordering this time. Here's why:
"Why, you never expected justice from a company, did you? They have neither a soul to lose nor a body to kick." -- Lady Saba Holland

Never.
Always dawg
No need to preorder. Battleground is F2P and constructed is a meme mode. You need to be somewhat degenerate to play constructed atm

I am usually pre-ordering. This time I am so pissed of with Blizzard that I will not.
They sold mercenaries and it is a disaster. They already received my money for that incomplete shit. They will not receive anything more.
I am also disappointed with the new expansion. It seems like a reprint of old cards to me. I like very few cards.
50€ pre-order for reprints? No Blizz thank you. This is the cost for a Triple-A game and not for a shitty reprint.
I am very very very pissed of with Blizzard for how they are managing this game.
