These were only promises for the future there were no dates given for these updates. Today everybody gets 5 packs for free, but I don't think they rolled it out yet
Didn't they say they were going to change mercenary stuff? extra coins? changes to the mysterious stranger? buildings?
No. We received very cool nerfs instead in order to play only pirate war.
Blizz said that they have to sell before Deadmines. They need more money in order to adjust mercenaries.
They said that the research and development for mercenaries are very expensive. Big math behind and very very skilled developers are required. So, what can we do.
Mercenaries is a flop, in my opinion, primarily because of the crafting system. Players have almost no agency in which Mercs they can unlock, because they need to collect specific coins.
Obviously, the current HS crafting system is very bad, but at least you can dust cards in order to craft new ones. Mercs is another level worse.
wasn't expecting any in-game changes today (except the free packs), but I was kinda sorta -hoping- we'd at least get more -info- about their plans for things.. particularly maxed coins and/or duplicate protection

Good news! That's one of the features they are working on.
It's a good time to remember that constructed didn't have things like duplicate protection at launch. It takes a bit of time to figure out all the quality-of-life features players are going to want, and then implement them.

WTF dude, i read three or four post of you in other threads and you are always on the company side, whats you f***ing problem? Are you from blizzard or are you the worst grandson of Stephen Candy??
Theres no difficult in figuring out that duplicate protection its the best for the players, they dont need feedback, they dont do it because they are just pigs who want to swim in money like if were mud... and they not need feedback about excess coins, they know from the beginning that no player wants to receive useless tokens, why you are always on the side of this monkeys?
People like you, who just love and defend to be robbed, its disgusting

Post Was Warned for Flaming.
I do feel like this time they should have thought on something about those extra coins in advance. I mean... they did learn about getting duplicates, and it isn't rocket science that some random will spend a gazillion bucks on maxing out mercenaries, and generating a fuckton of extras in the process.
Not gonna say this is cash move, because I think this could be poor planning actually (I mean, this company is known for missing on obvious things). Anyways, the fact they are correcting a fuckup does not take from the fact they fucked up in the first place, and didn't take inmediate action either. Something like making portraits apt for crafting, or some sort of way to convert merc coins into other merc coins should have been in action by now.

I know a lot of people around here like to bash the hell out of Blizzard and Activision but I think it's important to always have multiple perspectives on all issues.
Yeah, they maybe could have prepared for this better, but you have no idea how the process actually went down when they were putting it all together. It's easy to say they are greedy pigs and there is no excuse for this - but once in a while, try to see it a different way.
It's like, when you go to a grocery store and there is a long line up to check out, you will wait a while, and it makes you mad. But do you need to yell at the cashier for wasting your time? No, you don't.
I see the cashier as the Hearthstone team. The store manager is Blizzard. You're free to yell at the manager if you really feel the need to, but I think the cashier is just doing the best they can with the resources they are given.
I could be wrong - maybe the Hearthstone team has all the time and resources in the world and they are purposely doing all this stuff wrong to intentionally make the players upset. But I like to believe there's a good reason for everything and most of the time, companies are in fact trying to make a product that pleases their target audience.

Most of the time.
when those devs takes out in record time hotfixes that only benefit the company but keep bugs unattended during months and their only explanation its: we want you to have more "engaging experiences", dude let me tell you that they are laughing at your face

So the defense is that they are more likely super incompetent than super evil? Either way, fuck em.
WTF dude, i read three or four post of you in other threads and you are always on the company side, whats you f***ing problem? Are you from blizzard or are you the worst grandson of Stephen Candy??
When you have some kind of bug up your ass about making sure the world knows a company is "evil," I'm sure it can look like an objective voice is actually taking the company's side. But that's not what I'm doing.
I have been very critical of Blizzard on many occasions. A couple of years ago when they were taking more than six months to nerf obvious problems, I complained about them on a regular basis. I have taken extended breaks from Hearthstone several times and skipped entire expansion cycles for that exact reason.
Similarly, I've mentioned many, many times that the random-pack business model is predatory and too expensive. When it only applied to Hearthstone cards, people would just shrug and say, "That's just how collectible card games work." Now suddenly when the exact same system is used in Mercenaries, people act like the it was invented by Satan himself. So while I do agree that the monetization is not great, I am bemused by the hypocrisy of criticizing it in Mercenaries while having ignored it in Hearthstone for the past seven years.
However, I do not mind pointing out that the act of offering products for sale is not inherently evil, that luxury items like video games are not a human right, or that no company wants its paying customers to be unhappy.
On the other hand, I will always admit that Blizzard definitely wants its free players to be slightly unhappy -- because that is the how free-to-play games make money. If you want to be treated like a customer, you must first become a customer.

lol mercenaries dead as duels. Team 5 is incompetent and Activision is a shitshow.
