Not sure why certain people on here can’t allow someone celebrate something as inoffensive as hitting legend but i guess the name “CaptianTrollalot” gives away the intentions to begin with. Congrats OP
It just requires a vast collection of cards and, thereby, being a whale. Or a nolifer. Or a nolifer whale.
First time standard legend whale out.
There is this misconception that if you don't own all wild cards you cannot be successful. This is very wrong. You just need the 30 best cards in a deck, which often overlap a lot with standard, due to power creep. Then, you need to add 1-2 cards every expansion to your best deck. You can disenchant 99% of your wild collection, if something is not in a tier 3 deck or above now, it will never see play again.

There is also a misconception that you only need one deck to succeed.
One needs a set of decks to cover most archetypes to handle local meta fluctuations. Or the grind to the legend will be slow af and very frustrating. I'd say one needs 90+ cards with most of them being epic/legendary (hello highlanders).
Well, you can also stick to your words, I don't care - if they are true it only means the wild is stale.
People talking about skill in a game a dead cat on the side of the road could play. You people are funny.
And congrats getting to legend with a deck that requires an IQ of -45. What's next, you're going to pat yourself on the back for tying your fucking shoes?
Looks like we have an einsten here! Sorry next time I'll try the legend with an Even Quest Priest.
You don't have to be a genius to play any deck.
Arena in my opinion is the mode where you prove your true skills, and 12 wins I have many.
I just switched to wild with Reno even warlock and hit legend for the first time. I am a multi legend on standard, but boy wild is so much fun and variety.
I jumped to standard again to try a few matches but first 2 matches were ql mage followed up by ql warlock. Went back to wild again.
Do you know who else hit legend with a deck like Quest Pirate? My ******** ADD neighbor who drools on himself.
And you?? Share your high-level experience with us. Maybe we can get smarter with your gameplay and techs.
l don't play kiddie trash decks (aka Quest Pirate / Quest Hunter / Quest Mage, etc) copied from the internet that requires nothing but vomiting every card in my hand while my opponent has zero ways to stop it just to high five myself for hitting legend. I don't care about legend. If I did, I would craft one of those shit ass noob decks a dumb fuck turd on stick can pilot. How's that for a high level experience?

Man, I'm not even going to argue with you anymore. I thought you were a real player... But from what I saw you're just a frustrated person. A.I player detected.

More like I'm a realist. Brode leaving was the worst thing to happen to Hearthstone. There is a reason it's lost popularity. The power creep has completely ruined the game. The only thing you see in Wild now are these dipshit Questline decks as they have taken over. Odd Quest Hunter and Warrior are basically bot decks. My dead grandmother could pilot them. Hitting legend with them is the equivalent of being handed a participation trophy. The game has gone to utter shit.
After 5 years of playing, I took courage and decided to get out of diamond 5's mediocrity and tried the legend.
Pirate Quest to D1 EvenRenoLock D1 to Legend (Insane Games, I appealed because I hate Warlock)
I just wanted to share this with you!!
Congrats!
I also managed to get to Legend today for the first time. I'm also playing since 2014 and my best result was in the old system Diamond 2. This month i flew to D5 and thought i'll give it a try. I was D1 with 3 Stars and dropped down to D3, got back up to D1 with 3 stars and lost again, but finally managed to get through. Played Quest Rogue for the final push with a 9-2 score, because it counters Paladin and Warrior. Feels really good and now i never have to do it again.
Except there's only a handful of people who play ranked wild and they all only play the same deck so... No... It's very easy to out play your opponent when you know literally every single card in their deck. But congrats still OP. Legend feels good wherever you are, and I'm glad you got there buddy.

Actually, quite a few people play wild and there is considerable variety with regard to decks. In fact, there is quite a bit more variety in wild than there is in standard. I say this as someone that has achieved legend in wild and standard multiple times in recent months and is currently legend in wild and standard. If you don't believe me, feel free to check each formats respective meta and how many classes each consists of on hsreplay. Also feel free to take note of how there are often 3,000 to 5,000 plus players in wild legend at the end of each month in NA, which would indicate that at least 600,000 people are participating in the format in NA alone if Blizzards cited figures for the statistical percentage of players in legend is even remotely accurate. So to sum up, if this quote is any indication, you know very little if anything about wild.

This is an unsanctioned use of statistical energy.
You extrapolate statistics valid for Standard mode to Wild. I'd say percentage of legends is higher in Wild at least by an order of magnitude, with Wild legend players at 2-3k rating having to play Diamond or even Platinum players. This means there is a way more opportunities to play positive-sum game in Wild in general - where players can get stars without making other player lose them (cuz they are legends already and don't care lol).
Proof: https://youtu.be/ovvrC5SF-cY - here is an abomination of a Wild player (Ignite APM OTK mage) at rating ~1500 having to play vs Diamond I player.
Currently in Standard one cannot get a Diamond opponent even residing at 20k legend.
Last month - seemengly not a popular one - I could have been easily matched against low Diamond when playing at 15k legend.
So: if your extrapolations are correct - and they are not - there are like 12-15 MILLIONS of standard players. Which is probably bit far from true. But even if not - well, Standard still vastly outnumbers Wild so it is not be considered seriously from a financial standpoint.
I too made legend today for the first time (In standard with a deathrattle priest deck). Just ignore the haters and enjoy your moment (and free legendary!).
Contratz on your first time legend! I have tried it a long time ago in with the former system. I got 1 star away from being legend 5 times in standard mode but every time I got kicked back and eventually stopped trying.
I quit the game like a year ago and picked it up again last week. As I am now missing too many pieces for standard builds but have a lot of cards in Wild, I am now trying it there. So far I went from bronze to Diamond 8. I don't think I have enough time to get legend this month but at every star I get now will help me try legend next month.

This thread is fun. Lots of very nice, reasonable people here.

Seems like you're still stuck in mediocrity. Now you can try to learn to build decks maybe.
Take a walk on the wild side...
