FINALS
We're finally to the very last week of Murloc Madness! After weeks of voting we're down to our final two participants and ready to crown the champion of our legendary card competition. Cast your vote this week to determine who will be Hearthstone's favorite legendary card of all time!
It probably would have been interesting to do this double elimination style after a certain round. I have a feeling a few cards would have gone a lot further if not for running into unfavorable matchups early.
Rag is a better card, Reno is a better character. My vote goes to Rag.
huh, funny. I feel the exact opposite way.
Ragnaros is an important lore figure since the early days of World of Warcraft. First end boss of the first Raid. One of the four Elemental Lords.
Reno is basically just comedy relief.
Rag's card is just another late game game ender, and not even that great since you often had to pray for RNG to hit the right target. Rag is only played in Classic these days.
Reno on the other hand was responsible for the start of the unique Highlander/Singleton deck archetype and made it wildly popular, to this day. He still gets used a lot.
And I voted for Reno, cause his combination of being a great and unique and still relevant card and a uniquely Hearthstone exclusive lore figure makes him the best choice for this competition.

We just clearly like different things in the game :) I guess it's because I came from poker, and you're from WoW. For me comedy relief is way more nice and suitable in such a game, something what I like to see after a long day at work. Lore matters very little in HS, for me it's even negative, some thing which is exists and the reason why characters can't shut up in single player adventures, slowing down my progress through levels. For you it's probably called a story and I think both points of view are valid. It's just looks a little bit silly when they are trying to be spooky or epic in this environment. Rag was pretty good card during his time of glory and example of good RNG, you couldn't guarantee anything but you always felt like he did something for you even if he missed. The "I'll either kill him right away or destroy his last defender" situation was so enjoyable. Reno was basically a control spell on stick, Tree of Life level of entertainment. I'm saying "was" because now both are not standard so basically irrelevant. I had some fun trying to make Tempo Highlander mage work, but that's about it, so archetype became interesting for me only when Reno gone and Dinotamer Brann, real king of Highlander decks (just kidding, it's Zephrys ofc, but for me he is!) came. Rag was a legit card for both control and midrange. Boom would be more fair winner than Rag (It was hard to expect Loatheb or Thalnos actually win, they did even better than I expected, so I was rooting for Boom to win entire thing), but at least Rag is not control only card.

English is not my native language, so, with a high probability, mistakes were made.

Fun fact: Dr. Boom was the first card we picked when we did the initial rankings for Murloc Madness.

Makes sense, Dr. Boom, Reno and Yogg are the first three that come to mind to do well in such a competition in any case.

You mentioned Thalnos. He and Mankrik were probably the most overperforming cards (or if you want to think of it that way, the cards that we missed on most when making the initial Rankings.
We had 8 Tiers of 16 cards, and we assumed that cards within a Tier were of equal class, and that cards in Tiers adjacent were relatively close. Most of the cards that got to the Quarter Finals and beyond were Tier 1 cards, but Thalnos was a Tier 5 card and Mankrik a Tier 6.
We just missed how popular they were to the general community, even if we realized they were good cards in a vacuum.
On the flipside, we had 2 Quest Cards in Tier 1, and we also failed to see how little people cared about those cards, even though they remained strong cards with some cultural impact.
I think that's 4 of our Top 5 misses with Murloc Madness.
Our no. 1 miss was not cheating the system and forcing a Murloc to win it all. Murlocs ALL lost in the first round. Complete and utter failure on our part!

Thalnos is a surprise for me as well, I thought he should do worse than he deserves, since he is small and not that flashy, despite of hanging around forever and being useful at least in one decent archetype all the time. I underestimated the community's ability to respect "normal" cards here. As for Mankrik, it's not surprising to me at all, it's a great card for many decks and have some WoW drama understandable not for WoW players attached on top of that. Shuffling orc's dead wife into your deck is what people would really remember and vote for. Sounds like easy top-20 to me. Quests, yeah, no one even remembers how they called, all of them are just "x class quest" for most of the players, so I personally didn't even tried to remember which quest it is and just voted for their opponents all the time. Murlocs failure is sad, well, Sir Finley's failure is sad, one of the most pleasant characters, so nice and polite. Others are cool only when they get together and mrglglglgl.
I hoped for Yogg vs Lich King in the finals, and both got eliminated. Anyway, I like Rag more, he just feels powerful, thanks to lore, art, voice lines, animations and effect. I like Reno because it's memeish, but that's about it. I hoped for Yogg's win, because it has all the things I mentioned about Ragnaros, plus it's heavily memeish.

We're always going to be rich.
I'm saddened that Yogg didn't make it to the finals.

TIL Reno is actually an insect.
Oh no, master of madness didnt get in. :(
It's all about MA-GIC, getting rich, and saving the world now.

Can't add anything to this.
Ragnaros is a real surprise. I wouldn't have predicted him to even make the Elite 8.
But now my boy Yogg is out I'll vote for him to complete the Cinderella story
The only cancer in Hearthstone is its community.

I was hoping nexus champion Saarad would make the list and then my boy Yogg was beat out by Rag. I voted for Rag it was my first craft in Hearthstone.
