yo this is crazy, just realized that they changed the algorithm that checks the daily quest completion. I played many games in casual mode just now and I am still not sure how the new algorithm works.
at first I thought they changed it to "below 10 health+armor" from "15 and below health+armor" because in my 7-8 games that I hit 15 and below, only the ones that I hit below 10 health+armor counted as "playing a game".
but I just played a game with suicide warrior deck, got down to 8 health at turn 3, conceded, it did not count.
so my guess is that with the new algorithm, you have to get below 10 health+armor, and be around turn 5 at minimum before you concede.
I really dont understand why they attacked the players using the method of getting down to 15 and below. Like why? What did we do to you blizzard??
I believe it's a bug that came with the latest patch. I just tried some games of casual for the Nozdormu quest but it didn't progress, but in previous months I could complete it in casual without any issues.
Gotta put your marbles on the table if you want those sweet, sweet achievement points. (and sometimes exp)
It's worth noting that you can also complete achievements in casual duels, if you prefer. Sometimes it can even be easier to do this way.
That absolutely has not how "its always been". Before the battle pass system, the only benefit to playing ranked over casual was a monthly collection of cards and a cardback. Quests could be done in any mode, you'd get 10g per 3 wins in either ranked or casual. Hell, even the ranked rewards were introduced well after release. At release, the only benefit to spending your time in ranked over other modes was a cosmetic.
Please stop playing with your "marbles" and realize how much Blizzard built the "progression system" to force players into ranked to drive monetization. Fuck, it took them months not to literally lock you into the highest reward quest specifically being "play ranked you plebeian."
Considering that I managed to get 2/3 on Noz Q in casual before the game decided I shouldn't get any Q progress in casual - and I've had progress in casual recently - it's almost certainly a bug.

Oh, my bad... I thought OP was talking about achievements, not quests.
I completely misread the whole topic.
Yeah, of course quests should work in casual. Must be a bug, as others mentioned.

Haven´t played in a while, but is this a feature or bug to not progress quest in Casual mode? Thanks for reply.

yup im having the same problem doing quests
As a workaround, if you don't want to complete quests in ranked, go to casual duels. Quests still work there. I completed my Nozdormu quest there.
