I have a question - and I couldn't seem to find an answer when I Googled it. So I come here to ask:
Is there a way to see if I have previously owned a card and then dusted it?
You would say: "well, if you used your brain, you could remember such things, and this wouldn't be a problem."
Well, my brain doesn't always work that way.
Long story: I just opened Jace Darkweaver, and I thought it would be cool to try out Fel Demon Hunter, but I am missing both Il'gynoth and Zai, the Incredible, which both seem to be useful in that deck. so I thought I might try a few packs from Darkmoon Faire instead of crafting them first.
The thing is... I think I had both of these guys at one point but I can't for the life of me remember if I did have them and dusted them, or if I'm totally imagining it.
Currently, my collection achievement is showing that I'm missing two legendary DH cards from Darkmoon Faire, which would lead me to believe that I never had them... but it could also be that the achievement doesn't count as completed unless you have them all at the same time, as opposed to checking them off one by one as you get them indefinitely... (can anyone confirm or deny this?)
Final thought: if you were only missing one or two legendaries from a set, and duplicate protection was going to guarantee that you'd get those (if you pull a legendary), would you throw some gold at packs, or just craft them?
I THINK the Collection achievement section will show if you've gotten the achievement for having, say, "All Demonhunter Legendaries". That score doesn't change if you dust a card, so I think it'd show you the information you need?

Thanks for the reply! I suppose if the achievement does track the cards even if you dust them, then this would be the perfect way to narrow down what I'm missing and make a better decision based off that.
As an update: I went ahead and bought 5 darkmoon faire packs to give it a try... and sure enough, I did snag Il'gynoth out of one of them... so, that's great :) Kind of crazy luck, to be honest... I've gone way more packs than that without a legendary, so I think the game was speaking to me this time.
Not sure if I should push my luck and try to get Zai next... but there's a good chance she'd be my next legendary. That or G'huun the Blood God, I guess...

That only works when you had actually collected all cards at once. If you dusted one, then got the remaining, it would not show as it is tracking full completion.
For Barrens I'm "missing" the recently nerfed Kolkar, Stealer, Perpetual Flame and Kargal:
Well, in my experience, once I dust a card while not having the achievement for completing the class' collection yet, it will not count as owned, which means that you need to have the cards at the same time to count. This happened to me recently when I went to my Warlock collection and saw that I was only missing 2 cards. One I knew it was The Demon Seed, which I never cared to craft, and the other one I figured it was the also recently nerfed Runed Mithril Rod, which I had three copies that obviously got dusted. So yeah, it's possible you owned these cards before, disenchanting them is not allowed if you want to complete the achievement system.

It's still within the two weeks of nerf! Go craft both for the achievement, then dust again.

So, that's what I thought originally, as well... dusting a card before getting them all for the achievement would set you back. Therefore, not a great measure for which cards you never actually had before.
Looks like I just got lucky with pulling Il'gynoth (and I really didn't have it before), but I still think I did have Zai before... so I guess that's case closed as far as that is concerned. Probably my next legendary would G'huun the Blood God, because I'm pretty sure that's the only remaining one from Darkmoon Faire that I never had at any point.
Perhaps the main takeaway will always be... don't dust cards unless you absolutely have to - and cash in when they nerf stuff.

Well yes, but actually no.
My understanding is that since the launch of the achievement system, ALL cards collected, regardless if they are dusted or not, are ear-marked in your collection. So for this, you could scroll down to the specific class in question. And if you have one or two cards missing for a specific class, odds are that it's an epic or legendary. And you should be able to compare to your list to see where the pocket lays.
This differs a bit from cards collected BEFORE the achievement system though, like in my screen shot. There's no guarantee that those missing cards for each class are ones I had before or not, so that's up to me to have to remember if I dusted them or could still pull them from packs.
Edit: Actually, re-reading a couple of the above replies, I may be wrong on that. That really flies in the face of how such a system should function, IMHO! Huh.

Yeah, that's actually what I did once I figured how it works. Still important to say it for more people to know about it.
